Chapter 1 - Who is our main character?

"I don't want to sound cocky, but with that kind of power, you could never dream of beating me." Ogosawara uttered softly yet full of confidence, "Wha- GOD DAMN IT!" I thundered full of anger.

"I know those movements… ZAKOU DON'T DO IT." Jonetsu yelled, gripping the metal railing that separated him from a few meters away from what can be called a mark in history. As the adrenaline took over my body, I pushed it to its upper limit in an attempt to match Ogosawara in raw strength.

"ART OF THE ASSASSIN: BODY AUGMENTATION!" I invoked, "Fine." Ogosawara sighed, "This might be worth the effort...'' He hushed as his nails grew into razor-sharp claws.

"GRAAAAAAAA!" We growled in unison, leaping at each other in a frenzy.

To understand the situation at hand, I will have to explain the events that led to this point in my life...

A few hours earlier…

"Mom, Dad, I'm off to take the entrance exam!" I exclaimed running towards our exaggeratingly large front door, "Alright sweety, see you later!" Mom yelled from the kitchen while brewing coffee, "Wish you good luck!" She cheered.

"Wait." Yelled my Father from across the hall, "Come here and pay attention to what I'm about to tell you, you have been getting ready for this moment ever since you have had reasoning and I know the journey has been harsh getting where you're at now, if things don't go your way it's never wrong to take a step back." Dad said with his hand on my shoulder, "Dad, you know I will do my best; the reason I'm able to run towards my dream is thanks to your guidance and training throughout the years." I said with a smile, "Well, I shouldn't expect less from you, son, go ahead and break a leg!" He exclaimed with a smirk, "Will do." I said, smiling from ear to ear.

I ran outside, making my way through our lush garden filled with greenery that caught the eye of any commoner. Flowers stretched from every inch, radiating colors and powerful pleasant odors. Making my way out of our front gate, I slowed in pace to conserve as much stamina as possible, since I'll need it.

"Hey, Zakou!" Yelled a familiar voice from behind, "Hey, wait for me!" He repeated in my direction, causing me to wonder who it was, until, "Oh, Hey Jonetsu!" I blurted out.

"We gotta hurry, if not we will be late!" He flew past me leaving only a gust of wind, "Huh? But what time is it- AGH, CRAP, WE'RE GOING TO BE LATE!"

"Come on!" He quickly responded, "It's easy for you to say! You can fly!" I answered dashing forward, matching his speed in an instant.

"What do you mean? You should be capable of doing so, don't blame me for your lack of practice, the only thing you've bothered to hone is your skills as an assassin." He sighed with disappointment, glancing back at me. "I was able to practice this one move-" I said, looking back at Jonetsu, who waited to hear what I had to say. "Never mind, let's focus on getting there!" I shrugged.

My name is Soshikabe Zakou, and this is a world full of 'Elemental' Powers!

In this world, everyone is naturally born with an element or two. My best friend Jonetsu can control wind and ice, but I, on the contrary, can control five elements! I have the ability to create, control and manifest fire, water, wind, earth, and lightning! However, the only one I can currently use is wind. It's a rare phenomenon that doesn't commonly happen, but I manifested my 'Element' at the age of fourteen, which makes me the worst case worldwide. But having all this power never made it easy growing up.

I was born with a very rare yet deadly heart disease that makes me physically incapable of doing any form of physical activity, world wide no one has lived longer than a few years after being born. The doctors said I wouldn't get past five years of age, but I never gave up; the same went for my surrounding community. I was bullied a lot at school due to this, which made it hard to go on with my daily life, but thankfully, I was blessed with a great family and best friend who helped me push forward to who I am today.

My father took note of the fact that no one could tell if I had an element or not, so he tried his best to train me as an assassin, which seemed impossible for how fragile I am, but that was only the start of my success. After eight years of intense training, I am now able to move faster than any normal human being could, I have senses no other animal could fathom having, and I have the strength that surpasses that of ten professional bodybuilders combined.

Not knowing if I had an element or not was the main reason why my father trained me, but little did my family know that I did have elements, but it was little to impossible for anyone to notice. The signs were very small and were visible only in my day-to-day life. When my mom cooked there were occasions in which I would get angry and the flame on the stove would rise, or there were times when It was raining and as I got very happy or excited a lightning bolt would strike nearby and rarely the light bulbs would cut out, but as I said, it was nearly impossible to notice these signs as they were very dim.

But to be more perspicuous, my powers are controlled by my emotions! And this is the story of how little by little those powers changed my life…

"YES, WE MADE IT. O-Ok Jonetsu, l-let's go in, and take a break b-before we take the exam." I panted.

"Alright." He answered as he slowly levitated towards the ground.

After a few minutes, we went inside, but… everything was straight chaos, we could see people either arguing or cheering, angry or laughing, happy or crying, this was nothing like we thought it would be.

"W-Well, let's head to the queueing area-" I pointed out as we were stopped by a man.

"Excuse me, you two." He said to us as we turned around to look at him with puzzled expressions.

"I am one of the Receptionists running the front desk. I can clearly see you two are overwhelmed with everything going on, but if you two are taking this 'Test', then I'm going to need your names so I can check the applicants list." Said the friendly Receptionist.

"O-oh yeah, my name is Soshikabe Zakou and he is Konetsu Jonetsu." I answered after coming back to my senses.

He took a while looking through the list, until he finally found us.

"Ah, yes, you two are here in the queue list, you two can proceed to the queueing area." Said the receptionist with a smile, "Thank you very much!" We bowed in gratitude.

The test Jonetsu and I are taking is to attempt to get accepted into Elemental Academy Corporations, or better known as E.A.C. which is an Academy that teaches students how to properly use their 'Elements' to be able to become a Guard. Guards are the people who keep the world in peace, from things such as natural disasters or 'Anti-Guard'.

As we walked around, we were amazed by the shocking types of 'Elements' some of the people had. We saw people growing plants from the ground, people who could bend the ground into pillars of earth, and we even saw a guy who wielded a 'Dragon Companion'.

After a while, we found a spot that wasn't very crowded, which was perfect for us to sit and wait for the test to start. As soon as we settled in, we started discussing some strategies and things that could give us an advantage throughout the test.

"You have the advantage when it comes to range attacks, you can use your Ice from afar, and-" I was explaining until I was interrupted by a rather peculiar girl.

"Hiiiii, can I sit here with you guys?" She asked from behind me, and as I turned around, I could kinda imagine myself looking at her in amazement. She is a slim but attractive girl, she has long orange hair that flows down to her back and crystal blue eyes.

"My name is Todomaru Misaki. Nice to meet you!" She introduced herself while bending closer to my face.

I never spoke to many girls- actually, aside from Jonetsu and my family I didn't really speak to other people, which made girls a different thing to me, but HOLY SH*T IS SHE HOT, JESUS. I assumed that she was a goddess sent from the heavens telling me to try my hardest.

"Hey, snap out of it." Jonetsu said as he waved his hand in front of my face, "A-AH, s-sorry I kinda got lost there." I mumbled in embarrassment.

"And you guys are?" She said as we left her waiting.

"M-M-My name i-is So-Soshikabe Zakou, n-nice to meet you!" I stuttered with a blush.

"Zakou-kun huh, I like the name. It sounds cute." Misaki complimented as her face glowed in cuteness.

"M-My name, c-cute?…" I thought to myself in absolute shock.

"My name is Konetsu Jonetsu. It's a pleasure to meet you." Jonetsu introduced himself with a calm and dull expression, "Nice to meet you Jonetsu-kun!" She answered

Once we got to know a little bit more about her, we came to realize that the test was about to start as we heard the loudspeaker go on.

"Uhh, hello hello, testing. One two three." Said a man who blasted through the loudspeaker.

"Alright, good afternoon folks! I hope you are all doing great! And welcome to ELEMENTAL ACADEMY CORPORATIONS!"
