Chapter 13 - Space-crack and Demons

Steve was surprised at the fact that Icy just suddenly returned to her monster card. Thinking about that, he remembered the question he had in the morning about whether Icy's ability to go in and out of the monster card by herself was unique or not. As he thought about the question, he started to think that the ability maybe was only partially unique and that only monsters who turned themselves into monster cards could go in and out of their monster cards without needing the monster tamer to do anything.

Steve thought about summoning Icy out and then ask her the question but then rejected the idea. Icy had just returned to her monster card, and Steve thought that it would be awkward to summon her out just a few moments after she returned. Steve decided to summon out the new girl instead. He took out the monster card, but before he could summon the girl out, the girl got out of the monster card herself. Steve was surprised, but he thought that his guess was probably correct.

"What race of monster are you?" asked Steve.

"I'm an Aquamarine Python Emperor," the girl replied.

"Aquamarine?" Steve looked at the girl closely. Shiny, long black hair tied into a ponytail that ran down to her chest, aquamarine blue eyes, sapphire blue dress, white gloves, white knees socks, and glacier blue shoes. "Yeah, seems like aquamarine blue. Well, at least your eyes do. So, what's your name?"

"My name is Aqua," said the girl. "Also, I originally had different clothes, but someone gave me these clothes to wear. That's why only my eyes are aquamarine-colored."

"Wait, so you're saying that when your transform into human form, you can change the clothes you wear when you transformed and it doesn't affect you in any way?"

"Yes," said Aqua. "But I can also just choose to change what my clothes look like instead of wearing actual clothes."

Some time later...

Steve, who was laying down comfortably in a fetus position and having a nice nap, suddenly opened his eyes and sat up. As if on cue, Icy came out of her monster card and stood right next to him.

"Master," said Icy.

"Do you sense it as well?" asked Steve.

"Yes, master," said Icy.

"Do you want to go check it out?" asked Steve.

"Yes, master," said Icy. However, a tint of determination flashed through her mind as she recalled an event from the past.

----------

Some time later...

"So this is it, huh?" said Steve. "A crack in space. But why... why do I feel like I've experienced this before?" Steve shook his head. "No way. I just came to this world. There's no way I've experienced this before."

There was literally a crack in the space in front of them. It was small and was only about half a meter tall, but it was getting larger by the second. Steve put his hand in front of the crack, but he couldn't feel anything. Then, a few sparkles came out from his hand that flew to the crack. The crack mended itself and was slowly getting smaller and smaller, and disappeared after some time.

Steve retracted his hand and looked at it in surprise. "What the heck?" Steve was sure that he had never done something of this sort, but when he placed his hand in front of the crack, he subconsciously did something he didn't know he could do and repaired the crack.

As Steve thought about what had happened, Icy came up next to Steve and said, "Master, do you think we should go back to school now?"

"Yeah, probably," said Steve, turning to leave. Suddenly, he stopped in his tracks and spun around and punched out behind him.

Behind him was something that looked just like a shadow- except that it was 3 dimensional and could actually be touched- at least spiritually touched.

The "shadow" dissipated into the air, but before dissipating into the air, it could be heard saying, "How...?".

"How?" said Steve. "Even though I've never really battled before, I'm still a Half-step Immortal God. If I can't even sense a weakling like you, then I've painstakingly cultivated all that time for nothing."

(Author: Steve's painstakingly cultivated= Cultivating 8 hours a day during sleep and slacking off during the day.)

(Author: Oh, and he only cultivated for like 2 years)

"However, that somehow looks like a demon that just suicides and disappears in the air for no reason whenever they get close to me," said Steve. He then turned and looked at Icy. "Icy, do you know what that was?"

"Yes, master," said Icy. "As you've said, that was actually a demon. However, it was probably a different kind of demon than the one you talked about. These demons rarely appear and are very weak physically compared to us. However, the demons are really strong at spiritual attacks and can even possess some people who have weak spiritual strength.

"However, even if the person has a large amount of spirit power, they are still prone to demons' spiritual attacks and possession if they have weak mental strength. Also, if the person has a tiny amount of spirit power but high mental strength, they can avoid being affected by demons. Of course, they have to have really high mental strength to make up for the tiny amount of spirit power they have. Even if they have high mental strength, demons can still affect them if they don't have enough spirit power."

"Sounds like something straight out of a novel," said Steve. "How often do they appear?"

"Not sure, but they seem to come every time there is a crack in space. They might have been the ones responsible for causing the cracks in space every time just so they can come here," said Icy.

"Every time? You mean this has happened more than once?" asked Steve.

"Yes," said Icy.

"Then how come no one has any idea about these cracks in space or demons?"

"That's because someone would always repair the cracks and deal with the demons before anyone finds anything out," said Icy. "After that person disappeared, someone else took over the job."

"And this time?" asked Steve. One couldn't blame him for asking. After all, if they did the stuff before anyone found out, then shouldn't he have seen someone here when he came, or shouldn't he at least feel that everything went back to normal before he came here?

"That person may have just retired recently," said Icy.

"Retired?" repeated Steve. "Then who's taking over?"

"I don't know," said Icy. "But master, maybe you could?"

"No way," rejected Steve. He still had to take school. There's no way he had time to go around and take care of all these space-cracks (let's just call them space-cracks for now) as well as those stupid demons. Nah, someone else can take the job and do it if they want to.

"Master, if you don't do them, the cracks will affect the human society and eventually affect your school life," said Icy.

Steve thought about it for a while and then nodded his head. "That does seem to be the case," he said.

"Ahhhh, stupid demons and the space-cracks!" said Steve. He sighed. "Well, I guess I'll just deal with them when needed."

"Anyways, master, don't you think it's time for you to go back?" asked Icy.

"Yeah, I guess," said Steve. "Let's go."

----------

School grounds...

When Steve arrived outside of the school property about 5 kilometers from the school fence, the school gate was currently closed. Although Steve could easily get past the gate and the other securities, he chose not to. After all, it would be very annoying to explain how he got in the building since the school tracks everyone that goes in and out of the school gate, and since they had recorded he walked out earlier, it would be seriously weird to find him inside the building without having records of him going inside. Plus, it would also disrupt his ordinary school life if the school finds out he is strong enough to bypass the school fence and the guards.

Plus, the school also records if a student is in a dorm or not and in which dorm they are in, apparently to prevent, you know, early romantic love and everything. It wasn't really extreme since they really meant no early romantic love because apparently boys and girls could be together in high school and experience love as long as their romantic love doesn't disrupt the class. They have special sensors for the jobs that are extremely accurate, so even if he dealt with the school records of him going in and out, sleeping in his dorm was completely out of his option.

So, Steve chose the alternative option: just stay outside and wait for the morning and for the gates to open before going to school. Steve chose to be somewhere out of sight. And what better place could a hiding spot than right outside the school property in the back. That's right, Steve walked all the way around the fence and followed it to the back of the school. Well, more like run, but of course, he made himself invisible and hid from view.

The fence covered that area as well, of course, but there were no guards. After that, he lay down right next to the fence and laid on his right. Of course, he kept himself invisible all this time. He also put up a barrier around him so that people would just for no particular reason come up with random logical reasons why they want to avoid going this way and just go another way.
