Chapter 4 - I really despise him

"So let me get this straight… YOU… Clara Lovesteen, have a DATE!?" Emily screeched through the phone. "I thought this day would never come! Is he hot!? Details! I need the details!"

Clara thought she might give Emily an aneurysm if she excited her any further. "It's no big deal Em, chill out. Actually, the guy is kind of a jerk." She rolled her eyes and stretched onto her bed lazily. Emily didn't seem to hear any of that. "Ok but, you didn't answer the question *gasp!* Oooo! Then he must be EXTREMELY hot if you aren't saying it!" She gushed and screeched again. "Ok That's it, I'm hanging up!" Clara joked, disgruntled noises came from the phone . "Good niiiiight!". She shook her head, still smiling as she plugged her phone into the charger. She admires the way Emily sees the world. Soulmates and fate, how every single person on this Earth has one person that they are destined to be with and by some magical force they meet and automatically fall head over heels and live happily ever after. "Maybe I'm just too much in my head my for my own good. I wish I could believe in magic and fairy tales." Clara pondered for a moment. "That girl is crazy'' she thought, ".... or am I the crazy one for taking this dare?"

The next morning Clara felt pretty good. She had pushed all thoughts about the silly date to the back of her mind and focused on her studies. It was Friday and that meant no classes with Emily as Emily has her "Self-care Focus Friday". Clara had no idea what that entailed, but it seemed to be Emily's day to blog and take yoga pics at insta-worthy backdrops like botanical gardens and a golden sunset beach. Clara didn't mind the solidarity, in fact she had grown to love it. This was the time that she was able to be in her head all day and have some mental "self-care" of her own.

On her way to one of her classes she was so deep in her thoughts that she accidently bumped into the person in front of her. "Oops, I'm sorry. I wasn't looki…" the person turned around and she saw it was Cyra. "Really? Are you like, stalking me now or something?" She raised an eyebrow, her slender pale arms crossed against her chest. "I attend this school as well, remember Clara?" he teased. "I'll see you on Sunday Princess." he smiled and gave a sarcastic faux bow. Clara didn't like the mock in his voice whenever he said the word Princess. "I really don't like him" she thought as she released a huff of breath.

Sunday morning, Clara woke up early as usual, and went for her morning jog. After a shower and an unavoidable call from Emily, Clara found herself staring at the mirror and frowning. She usually loved her plaid red dress and how it complimented her pale complexion. It had her favorite neckline, a heart shaped halter that made her large breast look like the gods themselves were gently holding them up, and it also paired perfectly with a denim jacket and her favorite strappy nude heels. Only, she had no idea what Cyra had in store for her because [of course] he wouldn't tell her. She turned around to look at herself from behind, lifting her long blonde hair to get a better look. She sighed, defeated. "He'll probably want to do something stupid like walk a million miles to a dumb hipster bar across town" she shuddered. She let go of her hair and it cascaded down her back like a golden waterfall. No. Stop that, I'm not going to let a dumb boy ruin my day, this is the first outting I've been on in who knows how long. I'm going to enjoy it!" she nodded at herself and slipped out of her heels into a pair of sleek black combat boots. "There, much better. Stylish, functional,.... AND tough enough to kick a hipster's ass if need be." She sprits herself with sweet smelling perfume, threw the jean jacket over her shoulder and pocketed her favorite red lipstick before heading out.
