Josh sat back a little more comfortably, one arm draped behind the couch, the other resting on his knee.
He looked at her out of the corner of his eye.
He didn't know why, but the thought had been in his head since she knocked on his door.
Could he trust her with the truth?
Who he actually was. Why he hid. Everything that could blow up the second it slipped out.
He didn't even trust people easily. But with her... something felt different. It wasn't just comfort. It was like she saw him , not the version he gave people, but the actual him.
He shook the thought off for now.
Instead, he said, "I've been thinking about getting a job."
Sabrina raised a brow. "Really? What kind?"
"Just something part-time. Im trying to keep things simple for now."
She stared at him for a second. "Why not go for something better? You're smart, Josh. Like... scary smart. You could do anything."
Josh smiled a little. "True. But simple draws less attention."
