Sirus continued carrying Enopy down the long spiral staircase. The stone steps wound endlessly downward, carved roughly and unevenly, as if someone had etched them in haste. Each echo of a footstep whispered secrets from a time long gone.
After what felt like a thousand turns, they reached flat ground. Sirus gently placed Enopy on his feet.
"Lead the way," Enopy said, pointing down the pitch-black passageway ahead. It exhaled a cold, damp wind—like the breath of something ancient.
Sirus didn't respond. He simply began walking, his heavy steps oddly silent against the stone.
"Grrrrrr…"
A deep growl slipped out from the shadows. It was low, guttural, vibrating through the ground and into Enopy's bones.
"What was that?" Enopy tensed, immediately sensing danger. He placed his hand on his weapon, his instincts screaming at him to prepare.
