"So your name is Axel, what a fine name.
This boy here is my grandson, you and him have been friends since you were young."

"What was his name again?"
Before Axel could answer, the loud buzzing of an alarm clock woke him up.
Today was the day that Axel was finally able to receive his first pokemon. He was 16, had received the local professor's blessing and most importantly, he received his mothers permission.
Axel looked over at his alarm clock and checked the time
"06:30, I don't get my pokemon until 08:00, I thought I was going to be late." -Axel
Getting out of bed, Axel quickly shouted good morning to his mother then proceeded to take a shower. Once done, he went towards his closet and pulled out the clothes he bought for his journey.
He decided on a white shirt with a black jacket over it. He pulled on his black jeans and his black and white shoes. Finally, he threw his black messenger bag over his shoulder and placed his black cap with a white pokeball logo on his head.
Heading downstairs, Axel was greeted by the sight of his mother.
"Axel, hurry and have breakfast, you can't leave on an empty stomach" -mom
"Thanks mom, I can't wait. I promise you, I'm going to become the best pokemon trainer ever." -Axel
"I know you will sweetie". Tears begin to fall down her cheeks. "Just promise me that you'll be safe" -mom
"Of course mom, I promise that I'll come back home stronger than I am now" -Axel
With that, Axel left his house and ran down the dirt road to the professor's lab. When he arrived there, he was greeted by a boy his age with spiky brown hair.
"You ready to become the greatest trainers in Kanto Axel?" -Blue
"You know I am Blue, let's go." -Axel
The two boys enter the lab and are greeted by the sight of an old man standing next to a large machine. What caught their eyes instead were the three red and white devices sitting in the machines. Those pokeballs held what would become their greatest friend.
Axel and Blue listened to the professor speak for what felt like years, their eyes not leaving the pokeballs.
When the professor finished speaking and the boys had been given permission, the two boys approached the machine ready to make a decision which would change their entire lives.
Axel looked over the three options.
Bulbasaur a grass and poison type
Charmander a fire type
Squirtle a water type
Before Axel could decide, a hand shot out and grabbed the pokeball holding squirtle.
Axel looked up and saw Blue whisper something to the pokeball before lowering it to his belt.
Axel stared ahead at the two pokeballs before reaching forward and choosing charmander.
"Let's work hard and become the greatest, I'm counting on you Charmander." -Axel
Having made their choice the two boys left the lab and stopped at a field.
"Axel this is the first battle me and squirtle have ever took part in and we don't plan on losing" -Blue
With that said, the pokeball was thrown and a blue turtle appeared, looking around at its new environment.
Axel grinned and also threw his pokeball, staring in amazement at the orange lizard which stood in front of him.
The two boys stared at each other and both began to issue orders to their pokemon.
Charmander growled, startling squirtle who proceeds to hide in his shell with its tail sticking out.
Seeing this, Charmander followed his trainers orders and ran over scratching at the tail which was too big to retreat in the shell.
Squirtle came out of the shell and jumped back before charging at Charmander slamming into him.
The battle carried on like this for a few minutes but finally, squirtle fell, exhausted.
Blue returned squirtle and ran to the lab to heal squirtle while Axel had used a potion on charmander.
Together, Axel and his new friend Charmander headed towards the exit of Pallet Town.
Staring at the wilderness of route 1 in front of them, Axel let out a chuckle.
"This is where it all begins, I swear I will become the strongest." -Axel
