I ran out of the building and into the central courtyard where most of the important facilities were. There was smoke all around me that seemed to be coming from all over. The courtyard wasn't on fire, but it looked like a lot of the base was.
Most of the people around here had assembled and were getting armed. There was no sense of organization and everyone was running everywhere. The smoke and dust filled the air and made me choke.
I made my way through the crowd of soldiers and finally saw Rime. I called out to her.
"Rime!"
She didn't look my way.
"Rime!"
Then she heard me. She turned my way and looked at me. I expected to hear some orders from her mouth, not to see blood spurt out as she coughed.
All of a sudden, I felt it. The Presence.
Everyone around me must have felt it as well, Some exploded into pieces, sending internal organs flying. It landed on my face and one very bloody fragment landed in my mouth that hung open.
