The ride to the hospital was mostly quiet, the hum of the morning traffic being the only sound between Leon and Levi. As they took a bend down a street, Leon made a noise in his throat that made Levi look at him briefly before returning his eyes to the road.
"You okay?" he asked.
"I think you're going to the hospital I work at."
Levi furrowed his brow in recognition. "Yeah, it is."
Leon just gave him an odd look.

The waiting room was filled with quiet murmurs, ticking clocks, and the scratch of pens on clipboards. Kayden stood by the window, arms folded, eyes fixed on nothing. His jaw clenched tighter each second that passed without an update. It was the same hospital that Everette had been admitted to when this whole thing started. That fact made Kayden anxious but comforted him at the same time.
