Harkons POV
Harkon was one of the adventurers chosen by Kerry the Slicer for the job of guarding the caravan along with his friend Reginold. He was a high rank C fire mage from Ring City who had experience with putting down undead.
His friend Reginold possessed blessed armour and a blessed sword that protected him from curses and other dark magic. He also had experience in dealing with undead.
Right now Harkon was inside one of the carriages with his friend Reginold. He was reading a spell book in order to learn the theory behind invisibility and use it as a spell.
He was constantly trying to learn new powerful spells in order to break into the class B.Perhaps then he would be able to join the Ring City mages guild in order to gain access to further spells and improve his power.
"When do you think something is going to happen Harkon?."asked Reginold curiously as he sharpened his blade against a whet stone.
"How should I know and be quiet I'm close to learning the invisibility spell. It would honestly be better if nothing happened so we get a free reward."Harkon said angrily as he continued with his research.
"It's just I have a bad feeling something bad is going to happen."Reginold spoke softly as he was wary of the possibilities of this task.He was a man who trusted his gut and his gut was hardly ever wrong.
The door to the carriage immediately opened and a scared merchant fell into the carriage. The adventurers within the carriage all looked toward him with surprise. Was something happening?.
"We're under attack by ghouls, ghosts and a skeleton. Most of the guards have already been killed."exclaimed the merchant as he stared at the adventurers with pleading eyes.
The adventurers including Harkon,Reginold and everyone else all immediately stood up and brandished their weapons. They knew what had to be done and they would do it as perfectly as possible.
They all exited the carriage and bore witness to a chaotic battlefield. There were multiple corpses strewn about the ground with multiple undead feeding on their flesh or remaining life force. As expected regular humans stood no chance against creatures of the dark.
The adventurers were shocked at first but they quickly accepted the grisly scene as reality. They quickly got to work charging the enemy undead and casting spells at them.
The few melee fighters engaged the ghouls and overwhelmed them with fighting technique. They didn't allow the ghouls superior physical abilities to hold the sway of the battle and also dealt rapid vital strikes to bypass the ghouls accelerated healing and kill them quickly.
The ranged spell casters attacked the ghosts who were fewer in number then the ghouls. This didn't make them any less dangerous however as they ducked and swerved around the spells attempting to get close to the spell casters to sap out their life force. The spell casters however worked as a team and when a ghost got near one of their comrades they would attack the ghost and force it to retreat.
The ghosts were quickly dispelled in no time flat and the mages and priests proceeded to deal with the ghouls. The ghouls were incinerated and scorched which weakened their accelerated healing and allowed them to be killed quite quickly.
Harkon was one of the mages who had gotten out to late to do anything much however he saw some ghouls and a skeleton in the distance.Harkon rushed towards them hoping to do something.
The ghouls noticed his approach and proceeded to charge towards him.Harkon simply used up some mana and incinerated them with the flamethrower spell.Harkon immediately noticed an incoming projectile and quickly cast the flame wall spell.
The projectile which was a ice stake melted against the wall made of flames.
Orions POV
Orion immediately cursed inwardly as he had hoped to take out the fire mage whilst he was busy fighting the ghouls. The fire mage however had noticed the projectile coming and blocked it.Orion debated internally on whether or not he should have used more mana. That was in the last however and what mattered was the present battle in front of him.
Seeing that the ghouls were dead Orion ran around to the side in order to fire an ice stake at the fire mage past the wall made of flames. This time he used up more mana to try and pierce whatever defense the fire mage might throw at him.
[100 mana has been used up.490 mana remaining.]
The fire mage seemed to have a surprised expression seeing Orion using magic but his expression quickly returned to normal. The skeleton might be able to use magic but his mana capacity was clearly nothing special.Overwhelming an undead with such a pitiful amount of mana would be easy peasy.
