Lily Smith looked up at Amanda Smith and then, after thinking hard, said, "I hate you."

Amanda Smith watched her, amused and at a loss for what to do.
She placed her hand over her heart and gazed deeply into Lily Smith's eyes, speaking softly, "Lily, look into my eyes now... tell me, do you really hate Sky?"
Amanda Smith had gentle eyes that made it hard to lie to her when she looked at you.
Lily Smith instinctively replied, "Of course I hate..." She choked up, a voice inside her stopping her from continuing.

She bowed her head slightly, looking at her heart where, at this moment, there was something bubbling, boiling, as if something wanted to burst out, yet something was frozen.
She lowered her eyes and shook her head gently, "Mommy, I don't know myself."
