Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: The Strange Grave

At the Burial Mounds, Ji Youbo pushed his older brother to the edge of a large pit.

Ji Youyuan, who usually kept his eyes half-closed, suddenly widened them.

"Fourth Brother, light the torch!"

Ji Youbo, though usually a man of few words, always obeyed his older brother. He immediately lit the torch.

Ji Youyuan pointed at the center of the pit. "Go stand there."

Upon hearing this, Ji Youbo jumped in and stood in the middle. Instantly, he was struck by a palpable killing aura.

Elder Brother... is furious... Is it because of this pit? Or...

"You can come out now!"

Ji Youbo obediently did as he was told. Just as he stood behind Ji Youyuan, Wang Dongxue, dressed in black, approached, carrying a person in each hand.

THUD! THUD! With two sharp sounds, the Li family's mother-in-law and daughter-in-law were thrown into the pit!

Ji Youyuan and Ji Youbo looked into the pit. The two Li women lay motionless.

"Did you knock them out?"

Wang Dongxue nodded. "They thought I was a ghost and were screaming their heads off. I knocked them out to avoid any further trouble."

After speaking, she turned and asked Ji Youyuan, "Should I just bury them now?"

Ji Youyuan shook his head. "Wake them up first!"

Wang Dongxue, who had been about to act, looked at her husband in confusion.

"I have questions for them!"

"Alright!"

Wang Dongxue acted decisively. She jumped into the pit, grabbed Zhao Chunxiang by the collar, and SLAP! SLAP! SLAP! She delivered several hard blows to her face.

Each slap was delivered with force, as if collecting some advance interest for Suisui.

"Ah..." Zhao Chunxiang awoke in pain. The first thing she saw was Wang Dongxue's murderous face. She trembled and fainted again.

Seeing this, Wang Dongxue slapped her even more fiercely. Zhao Chunxiang's face was visibly swollen.

Zhao Chunxiang only regained consciousness when Wang Dongxue's hand began to ache from the repeated slapping.

Seeing that she was about to faint again, Wang Dongxue barked coldly.

"Faint again, and believe me, I'll cut off your dog's head!"

Zhao Chunxiang shuddered violently. Feeling the dampness beneath her buttocks, she went cold all over. "Wang... Wang Dongxue, wh-what... are you... d-doing?" she stammered, her words disjointed.

Wang Dongxue shot her a cold glance, shoved her aside, and then hauled Old Mrs. Li up. SLAP! SLAP! SLAP! She struck Old Mrs. Li repeatedly across the face.

Zhao Chunxiang watched, dumbfounded, the throbbing pain in her own swollen cheeks intensifying.

Old Mrs. Li screamed, spitting out several teeth. "Which damn scoundrel... who dares... dares to strike... this old..." Her words whistled through the gaps where her teeth had been.

SLAP! Wang Dongxue's blow cut off Old Mrs. Li's tirade.

"Behave, you old hag! If my husband didn't have questions for you, I'd have buried you alive by now!"

Wang Dongxue's towering rage terrified the Li women, making them feel as if their souls had left their bodies.

"Ask... ask what?" Old Mrs. Li stammered. A wet sensation seeped from beneath her buttocks, and a putrid stench spread out from where she and her daughter-in-law lay.

"Who told you the location and dimensions for this grave pit?"

Hearing his question about the grave pit, Zhao Chunxiang's heart pounded. Could Ji Youyuan have figured something out? Impossible. Although Widow Ji had seven sons, they had all left the village long ago to drift aimlessly, and none of them had amounted to anything. That's why, after all these years, the Ji family was still destitute, living in Ling Village—the most impoverished village in the entire country! He's just a cripple, what could he possibly know? No, it can't be. A cripple could never uncover my plan. The mysterious person did say that very few people in the world knew of this fortune-transferring ritual, unless the National Master himself were to appear!
