It's been a little over a week, and the snow is finally melting to a point where travel isn't impossible.
May, of course, is devastated by the loss of the snow palace she's been meticulously carving out of the snow.
"Noooo! My! Mansion!" May wails, pointing outside at her masterpiece - a hollowed out mound that looked vaguely like a tower - or had at some point. Now it was a melting cavern not long from collapsing in on itself.
I gently pat her head.
"It's early winter, May. You'll have plenty of time to build more." I assure her.
"But! But it took so longggg!" She groans.
"Mmhm. Well, I'm sure there will be another opportunity for you to make a bigger snow castle than that."
She puffs her cheeks and scowls at me. "Fiiiiiine!"
I smile. "Now be a good girl. Auntie is packing so she can head to town later."
She brightens slightly. "Town...!"
Ah, yes. Now she remembers she's supposed to be excited.
