Chapter 99 - [84] The Second Sword Impales the Lung

A/N: Yo, Shonpufi Here!

Damn! Y'all DESTROYED last week's goal. That means that you all get the guaranteed double chapter this week. The next chapter should be coming around Friday or Saturday.

Also, just a little secret. A lot of the stuff I've been writing about Otto's and Welt's lore has been a lot of on-the-spot stuff. I'm kind of proud of myself for that.

I already planned to have Otto kill the Pendragon clan since they killed his parents and shi, but I hadn't fleshed out the story AT ALL before.

Also, seeing how many people have been waiting for my return in writing these chapters, I've come to realize how many loyal readers I have.

So I was wondering if y'all wanted to have a Q&A?

You know, maybe ask some questions about future plans on this fanfic, stuff that you were curious about, or perhaps even ask some questions about me (As long as they aren't super personal like asking for my address)

What are y'all's opinions?

[Type Opinions here]

Anyways, Enjoy the Chapter, AND GIVE ME YA STONES!!!!

-3rd POV-

In the dead of night, the halls of Pendragon's castle were filled with the yells of pain, anguish, and despair.

Piles of bodies that were lit in fire resembled bonfires being fueled by the corpses of the rebellious lower houses.

And in the middle of that chaos, a boy with indigo hair and dark blue eyes ran through these halls, attempting to avoid the fights that were occurring throughout the castle.

"Damn it! How the hell did they find out..." Welt Joyce muttered as he held in his arms a newborn baby.

The moment the plan to rebel started, everything went to shit.

Ambushes were prepared beforehand, and all those involved were slaughtered.

And it didn't help that they sent people to the homes of the Kaslana and Apocalypse, as well as every lower house that was involved.

Welt himself was a loyal servant of the Nokianvirtanen house. And in his hands was its heir, Joachim Nokianvirtanen.

The head of the Nokianvirtanen house, Elias Nokianvirtanen, had instructed Welt to take Joachim and run in case things didn't go as planned.

And that foreshadowing paid off, as he was able to prepare to run away.

But you may be wondering, why would the world run through the Pendragon castle when it's the main base of the enemy?

It was because there was no other way.

The homes of all the members had been swarmed with the Pendragon, the streets were filled with knights ready to kill him, and all teleportation magic was jammed beforehand by the Pendragon.

Well, except the teleportation gates that reside deep in the Pendragon castle.

That's why he was here. To sneak in and use one to escape.

"There's one here!" A person suddenly shouted behind him.

"Shit!" Welt said as he noticed a Pendragon Knight pointing at him, telling his other buddies his location.

He began to sprint as fast as he could, but he couldn't outmatch the speed of a trained knight.

Welt felt a light grasp on his shoulder, which tightened a second later. Before he could react, he was thrown to the wall.

*BAM!*

"GUH!!" Welt grunted in pain as he crashed into the wall, his arms tightly wrapping around Joachim as he tried to protect him.

"Hm? Oi, he has a kid," Goon No 1 said as he noticed the baby wrapped in its blanket crying aloud in Welts' arm.

"A kid?" Goon number 2 sighed.

"Kill them both, hurry." Goon 3 said coldly.

Goon 1 and 2 looked at goon number 3 and sighed. They didn't mind killing Welt, but a kid was a bit much. But what could they do? Orders were orders.

"Kill All Rebels"

Welt attempted to get up, but a stinging pain shot up his spine. The wall slam had caused significant damage to his spine.

"Sorry, buddy, but I'll guarantee that I'll make it painless for him," Goon number 3 said as he raised his sword, ready to strike them down in a single cut.

'Damnit!' Welt cursed in his mind as he couldn't get up. All hope was lost.

'I'm sorry, young master...' Welt apologized as he looked down at the crying baby in his arms.

He closed his eyes and held him tight, awaiting their doom.

But it never came...

"Lost hope already?" A deep voice suddenly asked.

"Hm?" In confusion as to why they weren't dead yet, Welt opened up his eyes.

"L-lord Apocalypse!?" Welt said in surprise as he looked up at the current head of the Apocalypse house, Nikolas Apocalypse.

He was a man who appeared to be in his late forties. He had verdant green eyes and a signature golden hair that was tied into a side braid. Basically, an older Otto.

Nikolas smiled as he kneeled down to his Welt's Level. Placing his hand on his shoulder, a verdant aura began to emanate.

'So this is lord Apocalypse's sacred gear?' Welt thought in awe as every wound in his body was healed in a second. Lord Apocalypse was rather famous for his incredible healing abilities due to his sacred gear, Twilight Healing.

[A/N: Just to inform, Twilight Healing IS a rare, but not unique, Sacred Gear, and that there were several other wielders besides Asia. Meaning that there are other ones besides the one Asia wields. Just saying so that y'all don't flame me in the comments.

"Get up, boy, you have to take little Joachim here to safety," Nikolas said, his face turning serious. There were still many Pendragon knights roaming the halls.

Welt's expression turned serious once again.

"Thank you for saving me, Lord Apocalypse." Welt bowed to him in gratitude.

Nikolas chuckled and waved his hand. "If you truly want to thank me, then take care of Elias's boy." Elias was a good and old friend of his, so seeing his son alive despite all the chaos was a godsend.

"Of course, I'll protect the young master with my life!" Welt declared.

Nikolas smiled, a bit jealous that Elias had such a good servant. All he was stuck with was his bratty cousins.

Why couldn't they be as nice and well-mannered as the young boy in front of him?

"Well, that's enough chitchat. Take the corridor to the left and then down the stairs. After that, just go straight and you'll arrive at the teleportation gate. I've already taken care of the guards there, so it should be no problem to reach them," Nikolas informed.

"I see, thank you!" Welt said once again in gratitude.

He then began to sprint down the corridor at full speed.

But before he left-

"Welt, my boy!" Nikolas suddenly called out...for the last time.

Welt stopped in his tracks and looked back at Nikolas.

"My son...Otto. He has already escaped with a trusted maid of mine. But I still worry for him... could you rendezvous with them?" Nikolas asked. His son should be safe and out of harm's way by now, since they had already left via the teleportation gates...but the maid he sent him with was completely trustworthy, but wasn't combat-oriented at all. Or at least not strong enough to face low-level thugs of the Pendragon family.

And all other Apocalypse house members right now were either fighting the Pendragons or running away.

That's why he asked Welt, hoping to add protection for his son.

And Welt wasn't weak at all, actually, he was just unlucky to have run into high-ranking knights of the Pendragon earlier.

Welt raised an eyebrow in surprise.

"O-of course!" Welt said. Honored that Lord Apocalypse would trust him with his son.

Nikolas reached into his pocket and took out a folded paper. With a flick of his finger, the paper flew to Welt's hand.

"Go...and don't look back," Nikolas ordered.

With a nod, Welt turned back and began to run as fast as he could.

Nikola sighed, "Thanks for letting me finish...Uther" Nikolas said with a sad smile.

From the shadows, Uther's figure appeared. His expression was cold, but Nikolas could tell that he was equally sad by just looking at his eyes.

"Why, Nikolas?" Uther asked, sounding betrayed.

"You should know already, Uther. The lower houses have endured enough, and you've let the abuse directed towards us go on for far too long...." Niklas said as he began to unsheathe his sword.

Uther looked at him coldly as he began to unsheathe his own sword as well. But it was no ordinary sword... it was the holy sword Caliburn.
