Chapter 22 - Chapter 22 — Kaguya-san, Kindergarten Level

"Draw a blind box!"

I have to say, Fujiwara-san is quite tough. She was so scared just now her eyes were filled with tears, but in the blink of an eye, she was back to being excited.

"Let me tell you, I've always had good luck. A few days ago, I bought a drink from a vending machine and won a hidden prize."

"What's the hidden prize?" Amamiya Natsuki asked curiously. He really didn't know that an ordinary vending machine could have hidden benefits.

Fujiwara Chika put her hands on her hips, raised her chin proudly, and revealed her slender, snow-white neck.

"Hehe, another bottle, yes."

What kind of hidden prize is another bottle? If you're really lucky, you wouldn't be chosen as the unlucky one in the first place!

"You can only buy a blind box once a day." Shinomiya Kaguya folded her arms calmly, her tone cool and composed. "If Fujiwara-san wants to open one, go ahead."

Survival games are full of dangers. As it stands, permanent attribute improvements don't carry as much value as daily blind boxes. For example, the cat-ear hair accessory played a key role in dominating the Ghost Academy.

"Blind box, here I come." Fujiwara Chika's eyes sparkled. She glanced around to make sure no one was paying attention, then an ordinary blind box appeared in her hand.

She skipped all the usual rituals—bathing, changing clothes, burning incense, praying devoutly. Fujiwara Chika just patted her chest twice and opened the blind box without hesitation.

A faint white light flickered, and the blind box disappeared, leaving only a pack of unopened tissue paper.

[Name: Kleenex Tissue Paper]

[Attributes: A pack of ordinary tissues. If placed on the bedside in the dead of night, it may turn into a pack of smelly tissues, known as the Holy Shroud.]

"..."

Looking at the tissue in her hand, Amamiya Natsuki and the others fell silent.

Good luck indeed.

If the world ever ends, this pack of tissues might be an essential survival item.

"Why does tissue paper turn smelly if you leave it on your bedside at night?" Shinomiya Kaguya frowned and asked curiously.

Amamiya Natsuki looked at her speechlessly. You, Kaguya-san—with your thick eyebrows and big eyes—are you really asking this now? Are you kidding me?

Their eyes met.

The girl with long black hair had clear, innocent eyes, without a trace of guilt or playfulness, and a prompt slowly appeared above her head:

[Why don't you say anything? Is my question weird?]

Amamiya Natsuki was shocked.

This Kaguya-san isn't telling a dirty joke—she really doesn't know the answer.

You're a high school student and don't even know the use of tissues? Who would have thought?

Rumors say the noble lady has a messy private life and boys line up to lick her feet every day, but I didn't expect she'd be as pure as white paper.

He glanced at Fujiwara Chika.

The girl with a black bow tied at her temple happened to look over.

Eye contact confirmed.

Amamiya Natsuki understood: Only Shinomiya Kaguya is a special case. Fujiwara-san is obviously an old driver.

"Ahem, it seems my luck is very bad today." Fujiwara Chika coughed twice, placed the tissues on Amamiya Natsuki's desk, closed one eye, and said crisply, "Amamiya-san, this pack is for you. Take it and use it."

"I'm sorry, I can't." Amamiya Natsuki crossed his fingers and refused decisively. "Take it back and use it yourself."

Using tissues given by a girl for that kind of thing is no different from being a pervert!

"Girls don't need it."

"That's not necessarily true."

Shinomiya Kaguya tilted her head, confused. "What are you talking about?"

"Actually—"

Before Amamiya Natsuki could explain, someone suddenly grabbed his shoulders.

Fujiwara Chika leaned close with a bright, lovely smile, but somehow looked a little scary. Her warm breath was sweet as she said, "Amamiya-classmate, you mustn't lead Kaguya-chan astray."

Who led her astray? As a noble lady, she has no common sense and will be deceived!

After talking for a while, more students arrived, and the three returned to their seats.

As the bell rang, Amamiya Natsuki forced himself to focus on studying.

The day passed quickly.

In the afternoon, Natsuki Amamiya twirled a pencil on his fingertip, gazing out the window at the playground and sighed quietly.

The afternoon sun was bright.

A group of students sweating through their PE class were playing football, their friendship shining through.

What they couldn't see was the enormous ghost resembling a giant toad sitting in front of the football goal, mouth open, catching balls as its body occasionally phased through the goalkeeper.

It was obvious these wandering evil spirits weren't afraid of sunlight.

In just one day, three wandering spirits had appeared in the classroom, causing a headache.

"School's over."

Amamiya Natsuki withdrew his gaze and packed up.

"Amamiya-san, where are you going?" Fujiwara Chika's voice rang in his ears, clear and bright as ever.

"Home."

"I'm not going to club activities?"

"I didn't join a club."

"That's not good." Fujiwara Chika put her hands behind her back, leaned forward, and said, "If you don't join a club in high school, you'll regret it for life."

"I have no regrets."

Compared to Amamiya, Kaguya-san was much calmer.

She picked up her bag and walked out steadily.

Just as she reached the school gate, she met a woman covered in crawling baby spirits, exuding sinister malice. The cries and screams of babies echoed in Kaguya's ears.

Shinomiya Kaguya's pretty face paled involuntarily, and she stopped.

"Can you… see me?" the female ghost asked in a hoarse voice that made scalps tingle.

The baby ghosts on the woman's back crawled excitedly around Kaguya, like they had found a new toy.

Even the "Ice Princess" couldn't remain indifferent.

She gripped her schoolbag tightly, bit her lower lip, and mist gathered in her eyes.

[So scary, so scary, so scary, so scary...]

Amamiya Natsuki's gaze sharpened as he approached.

As the evil spirit halo activated, the ghosts screamed in unison, burning like snow meeting sunlight, and fled in panic.

"Kaguya-chan, are you okay?"

Fujiwara Chika rushed over, hugging Kaguya's arm.

"I'm fine."

Tears still shimmered in Shinomiya Kaguya's eyes.

"Before you say that, you better wipe away those tears."

"…"
