Chapter 306 - Chapter 307: Jungle Adventure (Part 4)

After defeating the Pinsir, Chimchar panted a few times, eager to keep fighting, but its injuries made each step painful. In the end, it had no choice but to return to Rex's side to seek treatment.

"Well done, Chimchar."

Rex patted its head, praising the little fighter.

Chimchar beamed with pride at the compliment, waving its arms excitedly—only to wince in pain as the movement tugged on its wounds.

"Mii!"

Without needing to be asked, Shaymin released a vibrant green energy, infused with life and nature's essence. The moment it touched Chimchar's body, the healing began. Even Rex felt mentally refreshed just from being near it.

The green light quickly mended Chimchar's injuries, and in no time, it looked like a completely different Pokémon from the battered one just moments before.

"Chichi!"

Realizing how much better it felt, Chimchar cried out gratefully to Shaymin, then turned and prepared to jump back into battle.

"Alright, Chimchar—just stay put and watch, okay?"

Rex stopped it just in time. While its wounds were healed, the energy it had used up during battle hadn't fully recovered.

Chimchar's swift victory had clearly hit Bagon hard. Bagon and its Pinsir opponent were still locked in a power struggle, both being brute-force fighters. Neither could overpower the other, and that left Bagon frustrated—it felt like it was losing to Chimchar again.

That frustration turned into fuel. Bagon began trading blow for blow with Pinsir, taking hits without hesitation and countering with relentless aggression.

In battle, strength mattered—but so did morale. Seeing Bagon's fearless, reckless style, the Pinsir started to falter, growing hesitant in its attacks.

It wasn't that Pinsir was a coward. It had come to avenge its injured comrades, not to gamble its own life. As a wild Pokémon, it knew how dangerous the jungle was. Suffering serious injuries could easily mean death.

Bagon, on the other hand, had no such concerns. With Rex as backup, it didn't care how badly it got hurt. In fact, it hoped it would take more damage—because being healed afterward might boost its strength even more.

In this battle of attrition, Bagon finally landed a crushing Headbutt and brought Pinsir down.

But the victory came at a price. The adrenaline wore off, and pain flooded in. Bagon broke into tears and ran to Rex, sobbing and looking pitifully up at him, pleading for treatment.

Luckily, Shaymin was quick to help again. Once healed, Bagon stopped crying and roared at the Pinsir leader in the distance, trying its best to look fierce. The result was more adorable than intimidating.

Watching this emotional swing, Rex couldn't help but wonder if Bagon had just used the move Fake Tears on him.

With both Chimchar and Bagon victorious, only Breloom and Gyarados were still battling the Pinsir tribe. The situation was finally turning in their favor.

Rex wasn't too worried about Gyarados—it was overpowering multiple Pinsir at once. With its size and raw strength, it had inflicted heavy damage on the attackers.

Breloom, however, was in trouble. It was visibly weaker than the Pinsir leader, and as the fight dragged on, its injuries grew worse and worse.

Driven by the will to protect its tribe, Breloom continued to hold on. But seeing its side losing ground, the Pinsir leader intensified its assault, clearly intending to finish Breloom quickly and then focus the tribe's efforts on Gyarados.

"Boss, please help Breloom—it can't hold out much longer!"

Yui tugged at Rex's sleeve, unable to bear watching any longer.

"Don't worry, Yui—I won't let anything happen to it."

Reassuring her, Rex sent out Swellow to support Breloom.

Swellow didn't launch a surprise attack. Instead, it positioned itself directly between the Pinsir leader and Breloom, preventing any further harm.

The instant the Pinsir leader saw Swellow, its eyes narrowed in alarm. A shiver ran down its spine—it hadn't felt this kind of fear in a long time. Somehow, this Swellow felt even more dangerous than Gyarados.

Overwhelmed by Swellow's aura, the Pinsir leader hesitated. It glanced toward the ongoing battle with Gyarados, then made its decision. Things were turning against them—continuing the fight could mean the end of its tribe.

Resolute, the Pinsir leader backed away and called out to the others. The rest of the tribe, still locked in battle with Gyarados, began to withdraw in an organized retreat.

"Return, Gyarados!"

Seeing the Pinsir tribe pulling back, Rex quickly recalled his Gyarados, who looked like it was about to charge after them in a frenzy.

The Pinsir leader gave Rex a cautious glance, then lifted a fallen comrade and helped carry it as the group left Breloom's territory.

"Jumpluff, use Grassy Terrain!"

Looking at the battered Breloom tribe, Rex decided not to ask Shaymin for another healing. Instead, he sent out Jumpluff to create a healing field.

As the Grassy Terrain spread, its soothing energy began to close the wounds of all the injured Pokémon in the area.

"Wait… One of the Shroomish is evolving!"

Yuli gasped.

A bright white light had begun to glow from one of the Shroomish in the healing field, outshining even the glow of the Grassy Terrain.

Moments later, a small but proud-looking Breloom appeared. It had clearly evolved after experiencing two consecutive invasions and realizing how helpless it had been. That awareness had pushed it to grow stronger.

With one more Breloom in the tribe, their strength increased noticeably. The other Shroomish danced joyfully around the new evolution, cheering its transformation.

After witnessing the brutal clash between the Breloom and Pinsir tribes, Yuli and the others no longer felt like exploring further. After saying goodbye to the grateful Breloom, they made their way back to the beach camp.

Their hours spent adventuring in the jungle had left a deep impression—especially the bloody conflicts between wild Pokémon. If not for Rex and Shaymin's involvement, the outcome for the Breloom tribe would have been devastating.
