After obtaining the chip, William glanced at the still unconscious Arthur, lifted him up, and tossed him through a portal into an abandoned mine pit over ten kilometers away from the castle.
This completely sealed-off mine pit had essentially become William's personal garbage disposal site, where he threw anything useless.
Looking at the unconscious Arthur sprawled on the ground, William chuckled and said, "I told you long ago, don't end up in my hands. Goodbye, old bastard."
After closing the portal, William asked Sunday, "Can we use this chip to track other people who are being controlled?"
"SIR, that requires additional equipment."
"Heh, tell Catherine whatever you need. She'll handle it. Oh, and make a detector for Catherine that can detect the chip signals. We have to return the favor after taking her stuff," William said with a grin.
"Understood, SIR. The equipment will be ready in about two hours."
"Good." Two hours later, several large trucks arrived at the castle. William received the delivered equipment and servers, spending two days installing and testing everything. After powering it on, Sunday reported, "SIR, server diagnostics are complete. No viruses or malware were detected, and no surveillance devices, trackers, or bugs were found."
William nodded in satisfaction, realizing Catherine had been thorough. "That's good. With these new servers, by how much does your computational power increase?"
"By 2.1 times."
"Excellent. It's already the third day, and since we've taken her favor, it's time to show some results." William, bringing along the detectors Sunday had made, drove back to London. When he called Catherine, she asked him to come to the Counter-Terrorism Command Center.
Upon arriving, Commander Richard Bloomley personally greeted William in the underground parking lot. "Good morning, William."
"Good morning, Richard." William exchanged pleasantries with Richard Bloomley before they both took the elevator to Bloomley's office. As soon as they entered, they saw Catherine sitting in the boss's chair, looking a bit frustrated.
After greeting her, William handed Catherine the box he was holding and curiously asked, "What's wrong? Haven't you caught the people behind the bombing?"
"No, it's been three days, and all we know so far is that a group calling themselves 'True UDs of Ireland' is responsible." Catherine opened the box, revealing 12 small devices that resembled chess pieces. "How do you use these?"
"Just press the button in the middle. The detection range is 20 meters, and it can be used 100 times before needing a battery replacement. Considering the hefty price you paid, I'll give you these for free. If you need more, I'll send you 100 more boxes like this one," William said with a smile as he glanced at Bloomley.
Catherine, understanding his implication, took out one of the detectors and pressed the button. After about ten seconds, the button lit up red, which made her instantly tense.
"Relax, relax. Bloomley's fine. I did that on purpose. Red means everything's normal; blue means there's a problem," William explained with a playful smile. "We all know red usually signals danger, but for the sake of our future safety, I decided to reverse the meaning."
Catherine's tired face finally showed a hint of a smile. "You've thought this through. I haven't slept well for days because of this. Do we have any concrete leads?"
William nodded, then turned to Bloomley and asked, "Is this place secure?"
Bloomley rolled his eyes at William. "Of course it is. This is my office, and this is the Counter-Terrorism Command Center. What do you think?"
Despite Bloomley's assurance, William used his psychic abilities to scan the room several times, ensuring it was indeed secure. He then placed his phone on the desk. "Sunday, bring up the data."
"Understood, SIR."
A beam of light shot from the back of the phone, displaying the brainwave control chip in midair. Before Catherine and Bloomley could voice their surprise, Sunday began explaining, "Ms. Catherine, Commander Bloomley, this is the brainwave control chip that was implanted in Arthur Kane.
The chip itself cannot fully control a person's thoughts, but it can influence them, amplifying their desires or obsessions and continuously affecting their thinking. Over time, those influenced by the chip are likely to become fixated on a certain obsession."
"For example?" Catherine asked, puzzled.
"It's simple," William jumped in. "For instance, if you are an environmentalist and believe that humans are destroying the planet, the chip would amplify your worries about the environment and deepen your fears. Over time, you might become an extreme environmentalist, and the idea of eliminating humanity might slowly form in your mind.
Once that idea takes root, the chip would further reinforce it, until you might actually start taking action. And there are many people in the elite class, who have no financial worries, with these kinds of extreme ideas. Controlling the elites means controlling society."
Catherine nodded. "So, you're saying that wealthy individuals or scientists who are unusually focused on certain issues could be the masterminds behind all this?"
Bloomley, who had been listening but still hadn't fully grasped everything, chimed in, "That's a pretty broad category."
"Indeed, it's way too broad," Catherine said, massaging her temples. "God, how am I supposed to investigate this? And now with these bombings in London, I've already been summoned to Downing Street three times in the past three days. If there's another bombing, I might be out of a job."
"William, do you have any suspects?" Catherine asked.
Suspects? William knew very well who the mastermind was, but there was no benefit to revealing it directly. So, he pretended to think for a moment before shaking his head. "There are too many suspects and too many facts to go through. We'll have to investigate them one by one. The only good news is that the enemy hasn't made a move yet, and we've caught wind of their plans early.
Catherine, your task now is to keep using the detectors to monitor the people above you, to make sure no one takes control of the country."
"Yes, I understand," Catherine nodded.
Just then, the phone rang. Bloomley glanced at William and Catherine before pressing the speakerphone button.
"Hello, who is this?" Bloomley asked.
"Sir, this is reception. That Asian man is here again. What should we do?"
Hearing this, a frustrated look appeared on Bloomley's rugged face. "Didn't I tell you to let him know we're working hard to catch the murderer? I promised him we'd catch the person who killed his daughter. Coming here every day is just hindering our work."
"Sorry, sir. I've told him that at least ten times, but he insists on seeing you. He said if you don't meet with him today, he'll come back again tomorrow. So, sir, you'd better meet him."
