Chapter 29 - Drag and drop

"Well, what you think we do now?" Callahan was perched by a pillar in the lobby, and of all people, he was talking to Jerry, hands in his pockets.

While Jerry was chatting with his colleague, he was looking through one of his own books. "I think we're still of use around." He gave him a quick glance and back to his reading. "I think they're past the threshold, like, 'Sorry, but we don't need you.' thing."

Minutes later, busily engaged in small talk, General Nowak, Dörk, and Nyx cut them short by exiting the room. "Gentlemen, please.." The general hinted to follow, armor clanking as he walked.

A tired look was on Dörk's face, where Nyx couldn't help the cringe on his. "We're set on it boys." And took off down the hallway after the general, waving for the rest to follow.

In the complex's courtyard, soldiers were already darting inside, either at their scheduled posts or on their sleeping hours.

Evening was almost over, with the sun turning the sky orange. We chatted for a while, really. Nyx thought about the time spent with the general. And cringed about the end of the discussion, concerning more precisely about his first task. Thanks to Dörk. Disposing of corpses... outside the city.

Just when Nyx glanced at him, brief but sharp, was cut short by Nowak. "Greetings, and thank you for deciding to join us." getting the eyes of the Skybinders. "Though late, I hope some of you, especially the physicians are willing to help in the med recovery area."

A few murmurs between the wizards and exchanged glances, many nodded in agreement, making the general smile softly. "Thank you very much. But first things first. As you know, a horrible siege has taken place. Many wounded and unfortunately many more dead. A large majority of our citizens have migrated north, so that leaves many vacant homes to choose from. Please pick a place to stay and those who can help in the infirmary, report as soon as possible. From now on, I will communicate with your comrade here." Nowak pointed to Dörk. "Various necessities you will have to decide internally." At that, the General bowed his head. "Again, thank you and make good work."

Finishing his brief speech of gratitude, the general withdrew from the attention of the group and met by his personal officer, Lenny at the far end of the courtyard. "Sir?"

Looking to the sky, Nowak simply stated simply with a sigh. "I'm tired. I'll talk to you tomorrow.." and left Officer Lenny behind, he nodded. "Just wake me up in case." And the officer nods again.

---------------------------------

Dörk briefly pulled on his beard. "Ok. Everything's fine." And glances at his sexy cement-built companion with boulder tits. "What?" he raises an eyebrow realizing Nyx was looking controversially at him. "Don't be angry girl, so at least you can ... you know.. feed while you're around here."

But anything else he had to say was cut off by Officer Lenny, the clink of armor automatically making his presence known to the group. But somewhat surprised. Glancing quickly between the wizards and the company girl. "What was that?" He exclaimed startled and slightly irked at what Dörk just suggested to the girl to do.

Ah... We got busted. "Oh, sorry to dillydally... we'll get through as soon as---"

"That's not what I meant... What did you say? Her to feed? With what?" his frowning tone changed radically compared to the general demanding an answer.

The elderly wizard frowned, wryly giving a quick glance towards Nyx, sharing the same reaction. "You see sir..."

"Lenny. Go on..." he narrowed his eyes.

"Officer Lenny sir, I created her... it. But she works on blood... But don't worry! It's completely safe to be around it!" for some reason, Dörk didn't lie. Idiot!!

"A golem? Eh... so you have complete control over her?" The officer eyed the stone construct from top to bottom, analyzing the shapes, the voluptuous shapes... the visible muscles and amazing features of the girl's face. Definitely built after a pervert's dream... He frowned but didn't say his thoughts aloud. Answering his question... Nyx denied it, giving Dörk the middle finger. "And with a sense of humor." He raised his eyebrows.

The wizard just frowned with a slight tinge of embarrassment. "Just like I built on it!" he chuckled nervously. "'She's very independent! Thinks very fast, learns faster. She can use 1st level magic, and commensurately powerful... noticeable after..." As Dörk explains and explains the advantages of 'his' so called '6 foot tall construct', Nyx grew bored and, turned and left.

Little surprise on the faces of the men engaged in the small chat, but Dörk opened his mouth first. "Eh... No, no! You stay with me for the moment." He exclaimed, holding a firm stance, somewhat to show his 'authority' over Nyx. To which Nyx just rolls her eyes and mimic a sigh, after the latter stoping.

"At least listen when you talk to her. Watch what she does, you'll be directly responsible!" Lenny says cynically. Taking another look at the rest of the wizards, he exclaims. "Those who need to come to the infirmary, please be back here in half an hour and I'll direct you on your way."

-----------------------------

"Well this is a cool place!!!" says Dörk, happy that he and the rest of the skybinders have found a whole cul-de-sac all to themselves! Nyx thought alike. Although with only a ground floor, the attic has been converted, with no walls and with a heavy-wood stairway from the house's kitchen connecting them directly, with beds and to Dörk's happiness, a pantry.

"Dear, oh, dear... please let be some goods left." Searching through the small space, a hollow rod hung against the wall. "Eh... no meat..." he followed disappointed, though expected from the ex-family home to have no 'protein' after running out of the city to save their lifes. The wooden shelves were also empty except for... "Aha! Nyx! I found... a crate of bottles of tomato broth...?" Dörk raised his right eyebrow. "Well maybe the rest of the boys had better luck. Maybe we can cook something tomorrow."

Pushing the crate next to the missing wall, Nyx just grabs it from the ground floor. "Heh... well... I think this house is a little small in stature for you. Wanna move somewhere else?"

Surveying the room, the hallway and rest of the rooms had ceilings a little over her head, but for Dörk it seemed enough, as he was shorter. Definitely designed for short people. Dwarfs maybe? Yet everything was neatly arranged. The entire picture just felt snug and homey.

Nyx merely waved her hand at Dörk's question, dropping the topic. "Well, thanks. I dig it here too." Giving a quick look over his shoulder, Dörk turns back to his sexy companion. "Mind if I sleep up here? There's a room down the hall where you can rest." With that, the wizard turns back into the room, causing Nyx to dismiss the chit chat. "Oh! I found a jar of peppers!! Jackpot!"

Entering the room, Nyx noticed the bed stayed neatly laid out from the previous owners, but the closet was left wide open along with a mirrored dresser to which has been emptied. His anoxic biology was helpful in many cases. No need to breathe when running. When fighting. But at least he could fake a sigh for the family, with hope deep in his soul, that had escaped with their lives.

Looking through the closet, they were left with just a few embroidered blankets and messy white sheets. By reflex, the living statue closed the doors and just lay on the bed. Nothing else to do but rest. Eh... nice bed.. Mimicking another sigh .Taking a more natural position, yet not needing to, he's stopped from falling asleep by something crashing above, in the attic.

"Sorry! That was me! Sorry" Dörk is heard shouting from above.

"Dörk! I can hear you, dickhead! Shut the fuck up and get to sleep!" a skybinder yelled from somewhere outiside.
