As soon as the priest walked away, the woman who claimed to be Kimberly's mother stood frozen, her heart pounding heavily in her chest. She bit her lower lip and stared at the ground for a few seconds, lost in thought.
'How do I tell her?' she thought to herself.
'How do I look into her eyes and say… if she feels too much pain, if she loses Theo, she could become the very destruction she was born to prevent?'
She shook her head slowly and turned toward the vehicle where Kimberly and Theo were waiting.
Kimberly waved lightly at her through the window, smiling innocently unaware of the truth hovering like a sword above her head.
The woman got in beside them. Theo started the vehicle and they all drove off, leaving the sacred temple behind.
"I saw you talking with the priest," Theo said as he drove. "Everything alright?"
"Yes," the woman replied, forcing a calm smile. "Just blessings and good wishes for the journey ahead."
