Chapter 39 - My Life, For Weed

I, Kyoka laments within the (relative) safety of her mind, am not nearly high enough to deal with this. Has she done enough drugs to make that determination? No. Has she ever taken any drugs before? Also no. But Kyoka is of the firm belief that insignificant detail doesn't make her assessment of the situation any less accurate.

Yes, the three of them were at least aware that Izumi is still alive after running into Emerald back at the beach, which was confirmed when she showed them the video of her sending All Might into the fucking sky! Emerald told the three of them that she'd essentially gone into hibernation for an overly complicated reason (she did try to explain, but Kyoka lost track within a minute and the other two weren't much better) and that she'd let them know as soon as she could after Izumi woke up. They didn't like that she refused to tell them where she actually was, something about them not being 'proper property', whatever that meant, but they really had no choice but to accept it.

They talked about it a lot that day at a nearby cafe -which only got customers because Emerald had apparently made some kind of air purifier that kept the smell from the beach full of garbage from leaving the boundaries of the beach. And she does mean all day because All Might never showed up for their 'training'. (They were later told that, after not finding them at the entrance to the beach, he'd gone walking through the piles of garbage to find them and stepped on a trap that launched the hero out into the distance above the ocean. He then proceeded to panic and called in a bunch of aquatic heroes to search the area because he thought they were also launched into the ocean, which… What the hell. Emerald is scary!)

Anyways, the three of them talked a lot about Izumi; how her 'power' (Emerald threatened to set them on fire if they said Izumi has a quirk. Again, scary) developed, why she never tried to get back in contact with either them or her mom, and what prompted her to yeet All Might into another city. Well, knowing All Might it was probably justified so they didn't spend much time questioning that too much. Mainly, though, they wondered about how their inevitable reunion would turn out. What they would say. What Izumi would say. What the situation would look like.

Alarmingly, Yui is the one who got it right, claiming that Izumi would appear in front of them covered in the blood of her enemies. Thankfully, she did not guess correctly about what would happen next or else they would have had to question whether or not she has a second quirk that has to do with seeing the future.

After landing on the leader of the foreign villain organization (Kyoka thinks they were speaking Arabic or something?) and tearing their fucking head off Izumi ate it! Then she threw the several meters long body into the air single handedly and burned it ash! She flapped her wings hard enough that the wind force generated not only made Kyoka stumble back, but also dispersed the ash so far that there's absolutely no doubt in her mind that nobody would be able to confirm the villain's death if it wasn't for the blood splatters left scattered on the ground.

…Except that Izumi proceeded to breathe out fire hot enough to melt the road in order to erase any sign of existence the villain had in the area!

...As well as giving Kyoka her gay awakening, but she would take how hot she found Izumi's savageness to the shared grave of her and whoever finds that out.

Anyways, she licked all their injuries which somehow caused them to heal (Kyoka decided to just say fuck it and stop questioning things at that point. Licking a bone poking out of a person's skin doesn't set it! What the fuck) and waking up Hitoshi the four- five of them left to go eat. She has no idea when Emerald showed up, but, again, she stopped questioning things. It's better for her sanity.

She briefly feels a faint flicker of sympathy for Detective Tsukauchi for having to deal with her and her friends' antics. Maybe she should send him a gift basket?

(Said gift basket put the man on edge for several weeks, worried about what the trio had gotten up to that constituted such an apologetic thing when they've never apologized for their antics before.)

At this point they're all waiting outside of some buffet place that caters to those with carnivorous quirks, waiting for one more person… And trying to ignore the fact that Izumi is completely naked and looks like a total bombshell. Kyoka can't help but look at her out of the corner of her eye, trying to seem nonchalant while leaning against the wall with her arms crossed.

Really, her hair is the most familiar thing about her, just as wild as it was back when they were kids, though the two horns rising from the sides are, obviously, new. The most stark difference, clearly, is the fact that she's completely naked, as previously stated, and completely unconcerned about it. Back when they were kids Izumi was a shy and awkward mess, she never would have been able to go around with everything on display. Not that Kyoka can see anything -not that she's trying to!- all of the important bits hidden behind scales protruding from across her skin along her sides, sort of looking like a skimpy swimsuit that leaves her stomach, most of her cleavage, and her back exposed.

Oh, and let's not forget the fact that she looks like she could have walked off the page of a playboy's centerfold! Seriously! She easily looks like an adult despite Kyoka knowing for a fact that they're the same age! And those curves! That chest! Kyoka wants that chest! Give her some of those curves, dammit! She wants to be able to go to a clothing store and say "Damn, I need a bigger bra"! Or even a bra at all! Cheater! Genetics my ass, genetics can't do shit like that!

Kyoka doesn't have much longer to stew in her boob envy before she's pulled out of her thoughts along with her friends who were stuck in their own heads. Really, they've been standing outside the restaurant in awkward silence for twenty minutes so it's kind of a relief that something breaks it up. Well, silent apart from Emerald and Izumi talking fast enough that even Kyoka's enhanced ears have to strain to try and understand.

"Izumi!? What the fuck!" Said interruption takes the form of a blonde twin-bunned girl dropping from a streetlight in front of them and shouting, causing the three to jump. Emerald and Izumi don't seem surprised though, so Kyoka guesses they knew she was there? Could have warned them…

Said scaled girl tilts her head at the new arrival. "Yeah? Is there something wrong, Himiko?"

The now named blonde's eye twitches and she jabs a finger at her. "Why the hell do you look like that!?"

Good, Kyoka was a little worried that she might have been unreasonable in her sentiment about Izumi's looks given nobody else had said anything. It's nice to know that she's not alone. A quick glance around lets her know that both Hitoshi and Yui also find her appearance strange. Actually, the only ones who seem confused about Himiko's statement are the scaly in question and Emerald.

"Is there something wrong with my appearance?" Izumi asks with an air bemusement, getting a shrug from Emerald.

"No idea! I didn't think there was anything wrong with coming out like that."

"No! Well, yes, you should have put on something, at least, but that's not what I'm talking about!" Himiko waves her hand at Izumi's… everything, which, fair. "Why the hell do you look like a pervert's fantasy come to life!?" Also fair.

Said fantasy just looks down at herself with a confused expression before looking back at her. "…I don't know? Aren't perverts those people who want to steal little girls? But I'm not little?"

Kyoka slips off the wall at the partially innocent question, and she's not the only one taken aback. Hitoshi chokes on the air and Yui actually looks surprised! She didn't even know she could do that! Emerald is the only one who doesn't seem affected by it, just shakes her head and corrects her. "No, people who want to steal children are called kidnappers. Perverts are people who want to touch your body." …Mostly correct her.

Izumi's head tilts to the other side. "But don't you want to touch my body? You kept running your hands all over it while we were flying."

The pink haired girl ignores the various shouts around her and waves her hand dismissively. "Yeah, but that's because your scales are amazing for making babies! I even managed to use them to catch some of your fire while you were asleep for my flame spitting baby!"

Now, Kyoka is aware that she calls her inventions babies, but still. Don't question it, don't question it. Gods, is this why people turn to drugs? I don't think I can blame them if it is…

Before they can continue with… that conversation, Himiko yells, whips her arm forward and-

Kyoka moves before she can even realize the danger, her jacks shooting forward to wrap around the handle of the knife the blonde just lobbed at her pink haired friend. Feeding into the motion, she doesn't jerk it to a stop but instead circles it back and lets it go in her direction. Said knife-thrower lets out a yelp of surprise and deflects the blade with another knife that appears in her hand, catching it before it can clatter to the floor. She stares at Kyoka with wide eyes while the violette glares back.

"The hell do you think you're doing?" Her voice is cold, and she can sense Hitoshi and Yui tensing next to her, readying for the possibility of a fight. She doesn't care what this girl's relationship with Izumi and Emerald is, if she tries to hurt her friend then she will take her down.

Before she can say anything more though, an overwhelming pressure floods the area, weighing them down enough that they all drop to their knees, gasping for breath. It's a struggle to breathe not just because their lungs don't seem to want to cooperate, but because the air itself seems heavy, moving into their lungs slowly. The voice of the one responsible washes over them, stern. Not threatening, not cold, but stern, with maybe a bit of annoyance. As if they're nothing but children who got caught doing something they weren't supposed to and they should know better.

"I will not have those of my Hoard fighting among themselves, no matter the reason." Kyoka manages to barely lift her head, just enough that she can catch sight of Izumi's face twisted into a scowl. "You are all mine. I don't care if you don't get along with each other, but you will not try to diminish the others' value by showing your 'superiority' over them."

What's… she talking about? Sure, they call themselves 'Izumi's Hoard', but that's because of the promise they made about being friends when she gave them their gold pieces. Except… they didn't start doing that until after Izumi disappeared, but she immediately called them that when she saw them. Which means that there's more to their group's nickname and that promise than they thought?

The pressure loosens a bit, and Kyoka draws in a shuddering breath, relief flooding through her. "Is that understood?" There's silence for a moment as they all look at the girl (woman?) which causes her to growl. "I asked if you understand."

A round of affirmatives pop up from them, Himiko seeming the most eager to make sure Izumi knows she won't cause problems. Kyoka puts away the observation that she must have experience with seeing Izumi mad already before the pressure completely dissipates, the sudden loss causing her to sway in her knees unsteadily.

While they slowly get to their feet, Izumi beams a bright smile at them, her previous mood nowhere to be seen. "Good! Well then, let's eat! I can't tell you how hungry I am! That head was a good snack, but there's nothing like eating your fill after a long nap!" She skips through the doors while her tail and wings start shrinking, quickly vanishing into her body. Because that's a thing she can do, apparently.

Kyoka really wishes that she could have had the nerve to try and sneak some of her parents' weed.

She stretches before hopping off the bed, looking off into the distance despite there being a wall directly in front of her. She nods in satisfaction before exiting the open doorway and making her way through the bare grey corridors, heading to her host. She's not surprised to find him in the same place he was when she showed up several months ago unannounced. Well, unannounced in that she didn't bother informing him, he's old enough that he should have been expecting her to come to Japan around this time anyways.

He did, though he clearly wasn't happy about putting her up until the newborn woke up. Not that his opinion matters of course, being a lowly human. The only remaining human she owes a favor to, but a human all the same.

"I'm heading out."

The man looks at her without eyes, injuries she can heal with ease if he would only use his favor. "They've Awakened?"

She can't help but smirk at the apprehension in his voice that he's clearly trying to suppress. As he should. "Yep," she pops the 'p', shoving her hands in the pockets of her purple striped dress. "Plan to head back after educating her."

He hums in acknowledgement before turning away to 'look' at the screen next to him, showing his protege. "I hope you don't take it personally when I say that I dearly hope to never see you again."

Haley Long lets out a bark of laughter as she strides to the exit. "Of course I don't. I hate humans as much as you fear dragons."
