Cherreads

Chapter 253 - 253. You’re Feeding Me Dog Food Too?

Aside from being a little burnt and bitter, the eggs were edible enough.

Lin Xiaohan watched eagerly as jason ate every bite of the fried eggs she had made herself. Her pretty face, shaped like a goose egg, brightened. "Hee hee, how was it? Tasty, right?"

Jason Liu took a sip of warm millet porridge and gave a crooked smile. "Hehe, it's great! Xiaohan, thank you. I'm so touched that you brought me breakfast so early..."

If only you hadn't brought me breakfast and just let me sleep in, I'd be even more touched, he added silently in his mind.

"Really?" Her eyes lit up with joy. She clapped her hands lightly and said with a cheerful grin, "Since you like it so much, should I make breakfast for you every morning?"

"—Huh?" Jason froze. The bun in his mouth suddenly felt dry and tasteless.

Seeing his dumbstruck expression and silent despair, Lin Xiaohan burst into laughter. "I'm just teasing you. You think I don't know how bad my cooking is? And you want me to cook for you every day? Keep dreaming, mister! I don't have that kind of time."

Jason let out a deep breath of relief—not because her food was awful, but because he didn't want to wake up early every day just to eat it. Sleeping in was far more comfortable.

Why give that up just to suffer through early mornings?

Watching him finish the breakfast she brought, Lin Xiaohan happily refused his offer to wash the dishes. She picked up the lunchbox and went to wash it herself.

Not long after, Jiang Chuchu saw her walking out of the general manager's office with the lunchbox. Her eyes lit up with mischief as she hurried to catch up, and the two women walked side by side into the pantry.

"Ahem! Miss Lin bringing someone breakfast? Now that's a sight to see!" Jiang Chuchu teased as she poured herself a cup of coffee and leaned casually against the wall.

Lin Xiaohan, who was busy cleaning the lunchbox at the sink, blushed and snapped back, "Yeah, so what? Got a problem with that? I'm feeding you dog food now!"

The term "dog food" made Jiang Chuchu's face twist into a smile. Damn, she thought bitterly, I'm still a single dog!

"Sis, you're breaking my heart," she said dramatically.

"Hey, I can snag a rich and handsome man anytime I want!" she added, puffing her chest in mock pride. "I should hurry and find one so I'm not the last single person here."

Lin Xiaohan rolled her eyes as she looked over at her dramatic friend. "If you lowered your standards even a little, you'd have been taken off the market ages ago."

Jiang Chuchu shot her a look. "Easy for you to say! You're already with a golden treasure and now you want me to settle for less? Hmph! Some friend you are!"

"Well then, what do you want me to do?" Lin Xiaohan laughed, enjoying their daily banter.

"After you marry Jason Liu and become a rich lady, help your best friend find a man just like him—wealthy, kind, and good-looking. Then we'll both live the good life, honey sisters for life!"

Lin Xiaohan chuckled softly. "Should I introduce you to an old nobleman with riches and a foot in the grave? How about that?"

"I'll take it!" Jiang Chuchu said without missing a beat. "He dies in a few years and all that money becomes mine. Then I'll be the rich one."

She smirked and arched her eyebrow. "And when I'm rich, shouldn't I get to play around with some young fresh-faced boys too?"

Lin Xiaohan laughed so hard she nearly bent over. "I knew it. The more you talk, the less shame you have!"

Jiang Chuchu giggled, took her hand, and playfully stroked the ring on Lin Xiaohan's middle finger. "But seriously, how did you two get together so quickly? I didn't think our straight-laced boss knew anything about romance."

Lin Xiaohan swatted away her hand and leaned in to whisper yesterday's story.

"No way! He sent you 99 roses?" Jiang Chuchu gasped. "Didn't think that stiff fellow had a romantic bone in his body!"

As they giggled in the pantry, Emily from the finance department hurried in. "You two! Meeting in the conference room. Now."

Lin Xiaohan and Jiang Chuchu exchanged puzzled looks. What was Jason Liu planning?

Jason Liu stood in the large conference room, addressing his employees at Fusion Trading. It was his first time using this room, but he didn't feel nervous. His voice was calm and confident.

"Did everyone get their salary for the end of the month?" he asked with a smile.

"Got it! Thanks, Mr. Liu!" shouted Lucas from the purchasing department, cheerful and full of energy.

"Hee hee, thank you, Mr. Liu! Now I can finally buy a new phone!" said Emma, a plump and cheerful newcomer he'd met at the last company dinner.

"We'll work even harder next time and aim to double our pay!" declared Justin from the sales department, pumping his fist.

"If you want double pay," Jiang Chuchu, now wearing her stern manager face, stepped in, "then you better go out there and crush your sales this month!"

"Yes, Manager Jiang! I'll do my best!" Justin nodded earnestly.

Next to him, Daniel smiled and promised to work just as hard.

Jason stood quietly, listening to their chatter about how they'd spend their wages. He didn't interrupt. When they finished, he moved on to the actual business.

"No more manual checking at the warehouse," he began. "I'm hiring people to upgrade it."

"In the future, only company employees will be allowed in. I'm installing a face recognition system at the gate—only those registered will be able to enter or leave."

"The purchasing department will bring in the goods. I'll personally manage the rest."

Everyone nodded. "Understood, Mr. Liu," said Oliver, the purchasing manager.

The others didn't mind—they had their own duties to focus on.

Jason continued, "Also, since business is growing fast, our current warehouse is too small. I plan to rent land next to it and build a massive new storage center."

The room fell silent as everyone processed the scale of what he was planning.

Fusion Trading was growing—fast—and they were right in the middle of it.
