"Mom," I called.
"Huh?" she hummed back.
"What did you feel like when you were pregnant with Axel?" I inquired.
"I was nervous, too, knowing there was a life inside me, and it was unexpected. But I also felt happiness; it was my first time having a baby, and once I received the news, joy filled me," she answered. "So, Carol, don't worry. You have Roman, and he loves you. You have us—we'll always support you."
I felt my eyes start to mist. Was this why I had been more sensitive lately? "Thanks, Mom," I said sincerely.
"You're welcome. Oh, we've arrived! Which game do you want to play?" she asked.
After a fun time at the arcade, we tackled the shopping portion before heading to the grocery store. We picked up essentials like peppers, tomatoes, yams, potatoes, rice, beans, cucumbers, broccoli, spring onions, onions, meat, fish, crabs, milk, eggs, and bread before I drove her back home.
