Chapter 15 - To The Themyscira

How did I become a god, you ask? Well, it was quite arduous, you know. I didn't even want to be a god, but when life gives you lemons, you just have to make damn lemonade.

The Mechanicum was actually the research center of the Federation. Nidavellir was my own workstation—don't confuse the two. Well, I actually have no idea why the Mechanicus even existed, you know. I wasn't around when they refounded themselves.

The point is, I took the Void Dragon, and apparently they made me the Omnissiah instead. I can't explain the shock I felt when I first heard a prayer. Then came the power, but divinity is a double-edged sword—yes, it will give you an immense amount of power, but the price is high. That's why I created the God Mode. I can redirect the power to me or to anything else.

Now, enough questions. And no, just because I'm still fine doesn't mean you can try it yourself. So close that damn portal, Magnus, or I will turn you into Magnus the Purple.

Legion Master Marbo landed on the white planet. His heavy steps cracked against what he initially thought was white sand, but he quickly realized they were scarabs—numberless and efficient. That confirmed this was the correct place. He continued to walk through the white mechanical desert as a path opened below him, guiding his steps toward the legendary Galleries of Solemnace.

He walked through endless halls filled with tesseracts. Myriad machines tended the mechanical corridors. Marbo tensed: everything here was dangerous. The floor he walked on could swallow him, the walls could crush him, the ceiling and the countless mechanisms above could easily attack him. He was alone. But that was all—he simply tensed. No fear, no anxiety.

A human came forward. He was old and fragile, his white hair and beard giving him the look of a scholar. His clouded eyes held a faint glow of green, so subtle that only a few could even perceive it.

"Please, this way." The human was not that different from the machines he tended—soulless, lifeless. This place was not for the living. Marbo was used to being in enemy territory. Solemnace reminded him of his home on Catachan, but only slightly. Yes, both planets were deadly to the living, but unlike Catachan or most of the death worlds he had served, Solemnace was not chaotic. It was artificial and controlled—like a weapon rather than a natural disaster.

The walk through the gallery was silent as neither of them spoke. Marbo's eyes moved around the exhibits. If his mission came to danger, he would have to—and would—use everything here. There were quite useful assets that caught his eye, especially that giant clad in advanced armor. The symbiotes within him warned him about it. That meant it was powerful.

Their silent walk concluded with their arrival. There stood a metal skeleton-like figure clad in engraved robes, holding a staff with a green glow. Trazyn the Infinite was seated on his throne, his unmoving face as uncanny as the rest of his race.

Sly Marbo, Legion Master of the Doomslayers, came forward to the Necron Overlord. Marbo loathed xenos, but duty held the most importance, and his duty was not extermination—not yet, at least. He still held hope it would come to that. The fact that he was alone on an enemy world was not his concern.

I found myself aboard Wonder Woman's invisible jet. Diana had managed to arrange a meeting with Queen Hippolyta faster than I'd expected—apparently, the Queen had time to spare. As we flew, I slowly tapped into my faith reserve. Yes, I still had access to those powers. Faith can transcend time and space, though only the most devout can cross the endless Void between universes. But given where I come from, that limitation didn't concern me.

The jet was quick, and after a brief sighting of the Pacific Ocean, a beautiful paradise-like island welcomed us—Themyscira, home of the Amazons. Also known as the island of women, but that aspect wasn't my concern. I'm happily married, thank you.

I jumped into the water just outside the island. What? Did you really think I would just barge in there and force them into submission? Please! I have manners.

The island's residents came to the shore shortly after, clad in their gear. I don't know if it was because of me or if they always dress that way. Regardless, they were absolutely stunning. Neither TV nor comics gave them enough credit. But again, not my concern.

Queen Hippolyta approached me. She was tense, and unlike most I'd met so far, she was a true warrior—experienced and careful, unlike her more impulsive daughter.

"Greetings, Queen of Themyscira. First, I want to thank you for answering my request for a meeting. Would it be possible to negotiate my entrance to the island? I wouldn't want to discuss such important matters in this uncomfortable location."

Oh, she was surprised. Well, I think she wasn't expecting ancient Greek from me. Diplomacy 101, my friends: If you use your target's language, they see you much more favorably.

"Greetings, Mr. Light. Of course we have a special place for diplomatic visitors. I would warn you that the other parts of the island are strictly forbidden." She answered in Greek too. Nice.

"Of course, Your Highness. I can assure you I have no desire to harm either your people or your culture. Please allow me to give you a present of appreciation."

I handed another box of mine to one of the women around the Queen. Another diplomacy lesson: do not hand things directly to the leaders. It is more appropriate to give them to their assistants.

Her assistants (and guards, I assume) checked the box before opening it, revealing a sack of wheat inside. I spoke before they could ask about it.

"This is wheat I brought from the future. It is thousands of times more water and space efficient than the best of this time. As an island with an isolation policy, I think food might have been an issue for you. There are also other vegetables and fruits in there that are superior in every way."

Now that got their attention. Well, of course these are Golden Age plants made through countless experiments. They are world-changing, at least.

"I appreciate your thoughtful gift, Sir Noah. Please let us guide you to a place more fitting for conversation."

She and her guard brought me to a table set up on the shore. This island is surely beautiful. The crystal-clear waters, fine and soft sands, and warm sun create a literal paradise on earth.

As we sat down, some women brought us fruits. They were unlike what I expected—quite excellent hosts. After an exchange of compliments and pleasantries, we started the real conversation.

"Now that we've concluded the pleasantries, we should start discussing the real subjects. To answer your first question, Your Highness, I came here because I am going to build an empire centered on this planet, and you and your people are among the mightiest powers on this planet."

The tone shifted with my words. The Queen became serious as now this talk was about her people.

"What exactly do you want from us? Our servitude? Well, you better be prepared because Themyscira won't surrender without a fight." Oh! Her diplomatic side nearly got me. She is indeed a warrior.

"Well, your submission would be amazing, yes, and I am always open for a conversation of flesh. Yet we don't have to go that route. I just want you to be neutral, at least. No ruler wants a powerful enemy near their capital."

I don't think she listened to anything other than my first sentence. Well, a brawl it is. I don't know who said "brain over brawn," but don't listen to that guy. You need brawn for everything.

Her servants moved the table away as Amazonian warriors created a ring for us. She removed her armor, leaving her with just her clothes. I also took off my suit, leaving me in shorts. My symbiotes put my body in battle mode as my psychic powers awakened and prepared to burst forth. Not that I would need them.

She also left her weapon, showing that this was not a fight to the death. Good—killing their queen could impede my efforts to subjugate them.

With a signal from the referee, who was Diana, our combat began.

She was a good fighter. Her moves were experienced, flowing like a calm river then bursting like a typhoon. But I was better. My experience completely overwhelmed hers, as did my power. I was unlike how I'd been a few weeks back—faster, stronger, and more experienced. We both held back a respectable amount, yet we were still serious.

I blocked her punch as she leveraged off it and tried to kick me instead. I dodged as her foot passed my head, caught her leg, and struck her down to the sand. She immediately got up and retreated. She was still at peak performance, but her strategy changed toward more defense than attack as she realized the gap between our skills.

Without giving her a break, I charged like a beast. She tried to evade and outmaneuver me, but I managed to punch her abdomen with a burst of speed. Before she could be thrown out, I caught her leg, pulled her back, and threw her toward the waiting Amazonians.

The girls circling around us tried to stop her, but they were carried along with her momentum before finally managing to drag her to a stop on the shore. The queen was still fine, her only injury being a bruise on her stomach.

She came back with the girls who had been carried along with her. Her mood was quite subdued, unlike her earlier battle lust. She wanted to fight more, as did I, but we had business first.

Seeing her still being defiant, I was about to unleash my full power when another presence beat me to it. With a light show and heavy presence, a humanoid figure materialized before us, transforming into a beautiful woman in revealing attire.

All Amazonians bowed to the figure that I assumed was Aphrodite. Well, that works too. I still unleashed my power though. I can't allow her to overwhelm me.

"You must be the new god who came here. Noah Light, was it?" She spoke to me. Her voice was silky and mesmerizing.

"I am Noah Light, yes, Lady Aphrodite. I am not exactly a god, though. It is quite complicated. You can treat me like one anyway."

Her eyes focused on me as her face brightened.

"Such pure and powerful love! I don't think I ever saw someone loving somebody with such intensity. You are an example of a lover!"

Her voice turned quite excited. Well, I love my wife dearly, so I agree. Though my defenses didn't detect an intruder, so either she is that good at it or it's not mind reading. Hmm, Hermes, remind me to look into it, please.

[Got it, boss.]

Well, anyway, using her to gain a foothold in the local pantheon would surely be beneficial. I have enough problems without gods who want to kill me.

"Oh, I got distracted. Sorry. I am here by the order of Zeus, the king of Olympus. He wants to talk with you."

Nice. My conquest is going way better than I expected. Especially Hephaestus and his forge would be a magnificent addition.

Okay, let's go and see the King of Olympus.
