I was sitting in my Biology and Anatomy class when Naomi rushed over and plopped down on the seat next to me.
Only me and her were in this class as everyone else in the group had a free period and we were waiting for the class to fill up.
"Broba! You will never believe what just happened!"
I stared at her. "Ok, try me."
"Okay so I was leaving my room a few minutes ago and as I passed through the main common room, Gabriel and Alec were sitting there and he was talking about you!" She squealed. "He said you were really pretty and smart and funny and always got flustered around you."
"He gets flustered around me?!" I questioned in disbelief.
"Yes! He likes you, Broba!" She shrieked.
I was shocked. The closest thing l've ever had to someone liking me is...well scratch that. No ones actually ever liked me.
"I...I don't know, Omi, maybe he was talking about someone else?"
"Are you kidding me?! Of course it was you!!! What other Broba goes to this college and just became best friends with Gabriel ?!!!"
I shrugged."You never know."
She rolled her eyes and patted my shoulder as the professor entered. "You'll see Broba. You'll see."
Just then I got a text.
Hey:)
It was Gabriel . I shrieked internally and texted back.
Hi.
Are you in class?
Yup...you?
Same. I'm guessing you're organizing your pens?
I paused as I looked at what I was doing: straightening out my pens. I seethed.
Shut up meanie.

I rolled my eyes, switched off my phone and focused on the lesson.

I sat on bed, scrolling through Netflix on my laptop in my PJ's, Hope already asleep, when I hear my phone ringing beside me.
I glance at the caller ID only to see one of my favorite people's name pop up.
Mom
"Hey, Mom!" I said.
"Hi sweetie! How are you? How is the moving in going?"
"I'm good mom. Its going great. I've made a few friends already." I smiled.
"That's amazing, sweet pea. The rest of the family wants to say hi." She said and spoke to someone before giving them the phone.
"Hi pumpkin!" My dad said.
I smiled. "Hey dad. How's everything at home?"
"Eh, well you know. Its alright but things aren't really the same here without you." Dad fake sniffles on the other end.
I laughed. "I miss you guys too, Dad."
"I wanna talk to her, dad!" I hear Cassie say on the other end.
"No, me!" Daniel shouts back.
"Hold on, I'm still talking to her." Dad says, pulling the phone away.
I miss my family.
"Okay pumpkin, l've gotta go before Cass rips my eyes out." I giggle. "Bye love you!"
"Bye. Love you too." I say as the phone is passed on.
"Hey Lia!" Cassie says.
"Hey Cass. How're you doing at home?"
Even though Cassie was older then me, she lived at home because she didn't want to be away from home, so did all her college courses online.
"Well, other than Danny suffocating my nostrils, I'm okay. But I miss you."
"I miss you too." Even if Cassie's a real pain in the ass, she's still my first and best friend.
"Give me the phone, Cassie!" Daniel yelled.
"OK, gotta go, love you byeeeee!" She squeals as the phone is ripped away from her.
"Hi Liaaaaaa!" Daniel shrieked.
I laughed. "Hey kiddo. How are you?"
"I'm okay. How about you?" He asked.
"I'm fine. How's the master plan going?"
"Great actually! She said yes! I have a date to the dance!" He said excitedly.
Daniel was 13 and asked for my help asking a girl to the dance. We had concocted a scheme and I had left when he was about to initiate the final step.
"Nice one, Danny. I knew you could do it." I said
I heard shuffling on the other end. "I have to go sis. Love you!" He says.
"Love you too."
The phone was given back to Mom. "Lia, you're hiding something."
"What?! What do you mean?" I question curiously.
"Mother's instinct, baby. Now tell me, its a boy, isn't it?"
How did she know this stuff?
"Fine." I explained the whole Gabriel story to Omi telling me that he liked me.
"Yes! My daughter is finally out there! This Naomi girl is right, by the way. He likes you. I like her, she gets it." Mom says.
"Okay, fine, I'll try and see how things go." I say.
"Good. And remember, Mama knows best."
I laugh. "Okay, I love you mom. Send my love to everyone else too."
"Love you too sweet pea. I will. Bye!"
"Bye!"
