Chapter 137 - Chapter 137: "Your Chidori Is Impressive—It’s Mine Now"

Crackling lightning let out a sharp, piercing screech—like the cries of a thousand birds.

"What intense chakra…"

Rin Nohara watched the arcs of electricity dancing in Kakashi's hand and smiled with joy for him.

She knew Kakashi had been developing this technique for a long time, and now it had finally borne fruit.

"Kakashi, don't use that jutsu."

Minato Namikaze, having just dodged a claw strike from Yugito Nii, called out to him.

"Sensei, I've got this. Even with multiple enemies, with this technique—"

Kakashi poured more chakra into his hand. The lightning flared even more intensely, and the chirping of birds became louder and clearer.

"I can end it all in a flash. Just like your famed jutsu…"

"Kakashi!" Minato's tone grew heavier.

From the way Kakashi was barely holding the jutsu together, it was obvious he didn't have full control over it yet.

Beads of sweat formed rapidly on Kakashi's face, and his arm trembled slightly as he maintained the technique.

"Sensei, we're currently on a mission under Jiraiya-sama. According to shinobi protocol, I'm not obligated to follow your orders."

Kakashi's reply left Minato speechless.

What could he say to that?

Stubborn? Rigid?

Rin, overhearing their exchange, instinctively glanced at Kakashi's face. As expected, he didn't look well. She quickly stepped forward and grabbed his shoulder.

"Kakashi, please just listen to Minato-sensei."

"Rin, trust me," Kakashi said, turning back to her.

Then his eyes lit up as he looked toward Shimizu, who had subdued Samui.

"Shimizu, I finally developed the technique!"

"Good. I'm glad."

The moment lightning had sparked in Kakashi's hand, Shimizu Uchiha hadn't wasted a single second. His eyes, bearing the fully matured Three-Tomoe Sharingan, never left Kakashi's jutsu.

Everything he had studied about Lightning Release techniques was now coming into play, allowing him to analyze and comprehend Kakashi's move at lightning speed.

"Well, well! What do you guys think this is—a personal talent show?" Killer Bee belted out in a sing-song voice.

Jiraiya's hand was scorched black—clearly, he'd just been struck by lightning.

Should he activate Sage Mode now?

He quietly pondered.

Killer Bee's synchronicity with the Eight-Tails was improving. With the power of a Tailed Beast on his side, even Jiraiya had to tread carefully.

One hit from any of those jutsu could mean serious injury. He needed to keep up his defenses and evade with precision.

"Minato, let's wrap this up quickly."

"Understood, Jiraiya-sensei."

Minato knew they had to end this fast.

Whether it was the Two-Tails' or the Eight-Tails' jinchūriki, both held an overwhelming chakra advantage.

Even with Jiraiya and himself combined, they couldn't match the sheer chakra reserves of a single Tailed Beast.

"Don't underestimate us, shinobi of Konoha!"

Yugito's expression darkened. These intruders had captured her comrade and now spoke as if no one else was present—completely disregarding the Hidden Cloud!

As she roared, a massive surge of chakra erupted around her. A ghostly blue flame ignited—ominous like a specter in the night.

Kakashi frowned. From the moment he began forming the new jutsu until Yugito exploded with chakra, only five or six seconds had passed. Everything was happening in an instant.

He planted his heels firmly into the ground and leaned forward, forcibly suppressing the surge of power, carefully observing the enemy's position.

His plan was to dash in a straight line and take out everyone in that path.

"Huff…"

Kakashi could feel it—this new technique was still incomplete. Something vital was missing.

But now wasn't the time to think about that. He shoved the thought aside.

Just as he was about to launch forward, Shimizu stopped him.

Shimizu used a Fire-Style Body Flicker Technique to appear beside Rin, tossing the restrained Samui into her care.

"Kakashi, your jutsu isn't perfect yet," Shimizu said quickly.

Minato and Jiraiya were still locked in fierce combat, and shinobi from both Konoha and the Hidden Cloud continued clashing.

These short exchanges between them were snatched from fleeting moments of downtime.

"What?"

The lightning in Kakashi's hand nearly flickered out.

Just one glance, and Shimizu could already tell it wasn't perfected?

"In terms of power and speed, it's flawless."

"You're right," Shimizu agreed.

Raikiri—or rather, Chidori—had excellent speed and destructive force.

The Rasengan dealt internal damage and covered a wider area.

Chidori, however, focused on a single point, piercing with precision.

Each had its strengths and weaknesses. That's why Naruto and Sasuke were always evenly matched.

In their final battle at the Valley of the End, both used the last of their chakra to unleash a Rasengan and a Chidori.

The result? Both lost an arm. Even the lengths of the stumps were about the same.

Naruto never pulled back—not when he'd already resolved to shoulder everything.

From that alone, it was clear Chidori and Rasengan were on par.

"You can feel it now too, can't you? That immense power… Your body is straining just to contain it. The moment you release it, you won't be able to control it."

What Shimizu wanted to say was simple: this jutsu was too much for Kakashi. He couldn't handle it yet.

In the original timeline, without Minato backing him up, Kakashi didn't even make it into melee range before getting killed by a kunai.

"Shimizu, I…"

Kakashi opened his mouth to argue but froze instantly.

In Shimizu's hand—was the same jutsu.

Crackle!

Lightning arced around him, and the chirping of a thousand birds echoed from his palm.

"Let me handle it," Shimizu said calmly.

With that, his body sank slightly into a stance.

His lower legs were coated in Fire Release chakra, the heat scorching the grass beneath his feet.

Chidori was already fast—but with the boost of his Fire-Style Body Flicker Technique, his speed would soar even higher!

Whoosh!

Dust exploded as Shimizu charged forward, dragging the crackling Chidori along a deadly straight line.

His target… was Killer Bee!

"Bee! Dodge—now!"

Inside his mind, the Eight-Tails roared a warning.

Killer Bee's body changed instantly. As Tailed Beast chakra surged from within, a blood-red cloak enveloped him.

He leapt high into the air, narrowly evading Shimizu's ground-level strike.

So fast!

That was the thought in everyone's mind.

Compared to Minato's Flying Thunder God Technique, which lacked a visible "movement" process and merely blinked from one point to another, Shimizu's approach had far greater visual impact.

Everyone could see the terrifying speed.

The Chidori's arcs of lightning left long trails in the air, while the ground behind Shimizu was scorched with two deep black lines.
