[Class 8-2B, classroom]
"Good morning, everyone! and welcome once again."
"Good morning, teacher," the class replied simultaneously.
With a soft smile, the woman at the front of the room introduced herself.
"My name is Aya Ivanov, and I'll be your homeroom teacher for the rest of the year. I hope we can create a meaningful and enjoyable journey together."
She paused briefly, her tone warm but firm.
"Now, let's begin with roll call. And since today is your first day, we'll keep it light—just introductions for now. Regular classes will begin tomorrow."
"Okay now respond to your name"
"Redolf."
"Present."
"Jemmy."
"Present."
"Alicia."
"Present."
The roll call continued, each name fading into the background as Rafael leaned over and whispered into Yuni's ear.
"Yo, what do you think this time?"
Yuni shot him a sharp, warning glare—his eyes cold and serious.
Seeing Yuni's expression, Rafael quickly backed off, raising his hands slightly in surrender. "Alright, alright… sorry," he muttered, turning his attention back to the front of the class, quiet now.
Moments later, the teacher called, "Rafael?"
Startled, Rafael jumped up like he'd been electrocuted, hand in the air. "YES!!"
The dramatic reaction caught everyone off guard. The room burst into laughter, even the teacher couldn't help but smile a little.
And Miss Aya said "wow Rafael you seem quite energetic" with a smile, "Okay sit down, everyone pay attention let's continue with the roll call"
After a while, the roll call came to an end. The teacher clapped her hands together gently.
"Hmm… where do we begin?" she said, scanning the room with a smile. "Alright, let's start from the right. Let's hear a little about each of you!"
Her eyes landed on the boy sitting in the first seat on the right.
He stiffened slightly. "U-Um… h-hi, m-my name is A-Albert…"
A voice shouted from the back, "Speak faster or the bell's gonna ring first!"
The room erupted in laughter, but the teacher quickly raised her hand. "Hey! Quiet down. It's not okay to make fun of someone for how they speak."
The class settled, and she turned back to Albert with a softer tone. "Go on, Albert. What do you like to do in your free time?"
"I… I like to w-write," he said, eyes barely meeting hers.
The teacher's face lit up. "That's wonderful, Albert! Writing is a beautiful skill—never be afraid to share your voice."
Aya smiled warmly. "Okay, Albert—one last question. What do you want to be when you grow up?"
Albert looked down for a second, then replied softly, "An archaeologist."
Yuni, watching from his seat, thought to himself, Albert's still the same as I remember—shy, quiet, and always in his own world. I just hope he doesn't end up a target for bullies again.
"Oh, that's wonderful," Aya said, nodding with genuine approval. "Exploring the secrets of the past. I love that. Okay, Albert, you can take your seat."
Albert gave a small nod and quickly sat down, trying not to draw more attention to himself.
"Next!" Aya called cheerfully.
Ebanio, Yuni thought. Strong, athletic... I never got to know him well, but I remember he's honest—the kind of person you can trust. Always ready to lend a hand.
The boy behind Albert stood up with confidence. "I'm Ebanio," he said in a clear, steady voice.
"Nice to meet you, Ebanio," Aya said. "Tell us something about yourself."
"I play basketball in my free time," he answered, "and one day, I want to become an NBA player."
Aya grinned. "That's a great dream—and you've got the build for it too! Just don't forget about us when you're famous, okay?" she said with a playful wink.
Ebanio chuckled. "I won't, miss."
After a few more students introduced themselves, it was Rafael's turn.
He stood up confidently and flashed a grin. "I'm Rafael. I like playing soccer and messing around with my friends. I don't know exactly what I want to be yet, but maybe something cool... like an actor or a game designer."
The class chuckled at his laid-back tone, and Aya smiled patiently.
"Well, it's okay not to have everything figured out just yet," she said. "What matters is that you're open to discovering what excites you."
Rafael gave a thumbs-up and glanced at Yuni with a wide, goofy smile.
Yuni quickly looked away, sighing internally. Don't look at me… I don't know you, he muttered in his mind, feeling secondhand embarrassment from Rafael's antics.
He's really going to ruin my second shot at school, isn't he?
Yuni slouched slightly in his seat, already regretting not choosing a seat in the back row.
Miss Aya glanced at her list and said, "Alright, next."
Yuni stood up slowly and cleared his throat. "Uh… I usually just stay at home, and I like watching TV in my free time," he said, casually.
He paused for a second, then added, "As for the future… I don't think I need to worry about it just yet. So yeah, that's about it."
He gave a small shrug and sat back down, avoiding eye contact with anyone.
Miss Aya gave a small smile. "That's perfectly fine, Yuni. Sometimes it's okay not to have everything figured out right away."
She jotted something down in her notebook, then looked back up. "Thank you for sharing."
Then, with a clap of her hands, she added, "Alright, next!"
A girl stood up with quiet confidence and spoke clearly,
"Hi, my name is Evvali, but you can just call me Eva."
She smiled politely before continuing,
"In my free time, I usually revise my schoolwork. And in the future, I want to become a neurosurgeon."
Her voice was calm, yet determined — and a quiet murmur of admiration passed through the class.
Miss Aya nodded, impressed. "That's a wonderful goal, Eva. Best of luck — I'm sure you'll achieve it."
After a few more students introduced themselves, it was finally time for the last one.
A quiet student stood up, her voice barely above a whisper.
"I'm Suisen."
Her soft, pale voice echoed just enough to be heard, and then she sat back down.
Yuni's eyes widened slightly.
"Suisen…?" he thought, the name sending a chill down his spine.
That name—he had heard it before. It carried weight in his memory, a tragic story from his past life.
Suisen i remember...
She's the girl… the one who was raped by four boys. She never even made it past her first week. A few days after the assault, she took her own life.
She hanged herself... all alone in her room.
Curious and uneasy, Yuni slowly turned to catch a glimpse of her face.
And when he did, his breath caught in his throat.
It was her—the same girl he had helped earlier that morning.
The same soft eyes, the same quiet presence.
"I changed something," Yuni realized. "She was never supposed to be here… but now she is."
He looked away, unsure whether to feel proud… or scared of the consequences.
