Third Person POV
Kaedwen.
...
...
"What is this? What's happening?!"
That was what the city's mayor murmured upon hearing the screams coming from the square, while trying to control the situation, though not very effectively. He was outnumbered, as the entire city wanted revenge against the humans, a wave of hatred spreading through the populace, and he and those who wanted to prevent it were far fewer.
He started running toward the square, upon hearing the commotion from there. Quickly, groups of elves and dwarves began fleeing the area. They ran desperately as if their lives depended on it, looking for shelter.
"What's going on over there?" the mayor asked as he approached them, running toward the square.
"They're killing us! Those in dark clothes, with red clouds! They're killing everyone!" exclaimed a dwarf, running past him, along with his companions who were fleeing in panic from the area.
Suddenly, more screams began coming from other directions.
"Hey! More of them!" they shouted, as chaos spread through the city.
"What is happening...?" the mayor frowned with screams echoing all around the city, and he ran faster toward the square. Already closer, he turned the corner and passed more people screaming and fleeing, all of them non-humans.
Upon reaching the square, he saw something that made him stop for a moment.
Several cages, used by the city's guards, now held all kinds of humans captive and were scattered across the area. That made him frown, but his thoughts were quickly overtaken by something even more shocking: a scene in the middle of the square.
A group of non-humans—dwarves, elves, and others—surrounded someone. They were trying to kill him. However, the figure in the center of the group moved with flips and precise strikes, even while being attacked from all sides. He began killing everyone there as if they were animals, leaving a trail of death throughout the area.
This was evident by the number of corpses already scattered across the square, totaling more than fifty. People fled in all directions in panic at the sight of the massacre.
"Please... don't kill me!" shouted one of the last survivors of that group, dropping his sword and stumbling as he tried to escape. The others had fled, running in desperation after witnessing the massacre, giving up on attacking that strange hooded figure.
Madara, from within his hood, simply watched coldly and turned to look at the mayor's group. The last elf, seeing that he seemed to ignore him, thought he had a chance. He quickly drew a dagger from his waist and lunged at the one who had killed all his friends and comrades.
Madara didn't even turn. He simply moved his sword with a single strike, slicing the man's arm and neck with precision. The dry sound of the cut echoed through the square as the elf fell, missing a hand and groaning in agony, joining the other corpses scattered across the place.
Without giving him any more attention, Madara continued looking at the new group that had arrived. The mayor was among them, and his face twisted in fear as he sensed the presence of just one clone of Madara hidden beneath that cloak.
"W-who are you?" murmured the mayor, consumed by fear.
"You should already know the answer..." Madara replied, his voice low but filled with challenge. "Tell me: are you with them? Do you intend to hunt the humans and attack me too?" He narrowed his eyes, and the mayor hesitated, gripped by terror.
"I thought you only killed humans... that you fought against the king's soldiers..." the mayor said, still confused by Madara's intentions, though he still disapproved of his peers' actions as humans of all types watched the scene around them, most of them crying.
"I came here to help the non-humans... that was certainly the idea. But then I saw the city capturing human people and massacring them like animals. That's why, today... I will be dealing with you." Madara declared openly, staring at them.
He had never claimed to be their friend. He simply didn't tolerate injustice from either side.
The elf looked at all the people again as he walked back to Madara.
"I didn't want this..." he murmured.
"But the whole city turned against the humans. It all started with the claim of a mage who visited us, claiming that the humans were betraying the non-humans—nonsense."
Madara could sense sincerity there.
"I even wanted to stop this situation... but it's not possible, I lost control of the place," he murmured, looking at the humans with pity.
At the same time, he thought that the path those who chose to follow had taken was the path of death, since this hooded man—and likely not alone—decided to act against the non-humans and now...
They were now lying around that hooded man, whoever he was, since the elf couldn't see the face beneath the cloak, as corpses.
"Then you'd better control your people," Madara replied coldly.
"I heard there would be a human army waiting for someone to open the gate. But that's a lie. There are no humans here, and you acted just as that mage wanted... Now I'll ask one thing: I want you to allow the humans to leave the city by dawn. Meanwhile, I'll be cleaning these streets of everyone committing crimes."
Madara didn't even wait for a reply. He simply disappeared, jumping on top of one of the houses and moving through the city.
At the same time, various parts of the city became battlefields.
Madara danced among the enemies, killing the non-humans with foolish ideals, massacring them one by one. There were some humans fighting against the non-humans throughout the city as well, and Madara decided to help them, leaning toward their side—but at the same time making it clear that if they attacked non-human women and children, they would be dealt with by him.
The non-humans, once thirsting for rage, now felt only fear and horror upon seeing their kin being killed by those men in dark cloaks with strange symbols all across the city.
The entire city was in disarray. Humans were being oppressed, hunted through the streets, dragged out of their homes by force, while public executions were being carried out in the city's ghettos—but now that had changed, as they saw their own captors dying like animals.
"When are you going to show yourself..." murmured one of Madara's clones—the same one who had left the square after speaking to the mayor.
He kept moving across the rooftops. All the other clones were busy and even paired up throughout the city, stuck in their respective sectors protecting the captured humans. But that specific clone had left the scene because he felt he was being watched from a distance.
Unlike the other points where there were two clones, there he was alone.
And, just as he predicted, the observer made a move.
Suddenly, a portal appeared right in front of him on another rooftop. A spell was fired from within the portal, hitting the clone in the air before he could react.
Immediately, he became paralyzed and started falling, crashing onto the rooftops and breaking some of the tiles as he collided.
The portal closed.
But, about ten meters away, another portal opened, appearing above the same house where the clone had fallen. A mage emerged from it, moving toward where the fallen clone lay.
"It's best to take him before the others show up," the man murmured.
He believed that if a group of those masked figures arrived there, it would be a problem. He had seen them massacring non-human soldiers and citizens and did not want direct confrontation.
With this one now fallen and paralyzed by his spell, he believed he could extract information—taking him to his lab and having some fun with a bit of torture. After all, he enjoyed that.
What he didn't know... was that there were wings flapping in the sky.
The real Madara was watching the scene from above atop his griffin, his red eyes spinning slowly until they took the shape of the Mangekyō Sharingan.
He had to be careful when activating those powers, as it could make him go blind. Even so, he couldn't deny how useful it was to have them.
Besides the Susanoo and the evolution of the Sharingan, making him much more effective, the Mangekyō also came with two incredible abilities.
He didn't know the true power of Madara's Mangekyō Sharingan—the original. That's why he was quite surprised to see those abilities in action. He didn't know if those were truly the legendary ninja's capabilities or the result of the skills he himself developed, driven by the abilities of this world, since it seemed to have a power somewhat reminiscent of the gifts of Ciri.
In the next moment, he activated one of those abilities.
The sorcerer was about to reach the body when a sound tore through the sky.
The cry of an eagle—but one larger than a horse—echoed loudly.
Surprised, he didn't see what happened right before his eyes.
The body vanished suddenly, being transported elsewhere.
Madara had activated one of his Mangekyō abilities:
a space-time technique capable of switching places with a target,
similar to Sasuke's Rinnegan power... though not limited to just that.
The sorcerer barely had time to react.
His neck was grabbed tightly, and before he could say anything,
he saw Madara's red eyes staring at him intensely.
He was then thrown backward, rolling over the tiles.
"W-who are you?!" he shouted, surprised, trying quickly to get up.
But he was already beginning to have an idea,
clarity emerging in his mind as he looked at the eyes in front of him.
He murmured, overtaken by fear, looking around the city:
"Of course... now I understand. Those were just clones.
And you... you're the real one. The boy everyone's looking for, and here..."
He turned pale upon realizing the truth before him.
Before, he thought it was a group acting across the cities.
Now, he saw it was just one—the real Madara.
And his ability to create clones was known throughout the continent.
Madara removed his hood, revealing his face.
He was indeed the boy everyone was looking for—older than described.
A young adult, after all; at sixteen years old, people are considered adults in this world.
His gaze returned to the Mangekyō in his eyes,
and his opponent felt a chill.
Desperate, the sorcerer cast a spell directly at Madara.
His figure began to distort as it was struck...
but in an instant, returned to normal.
The man tried to flee.
He quickly opened a portal and entered it without thinking.
But, to his astonishment, upon exiting the other side,
he found himself back on a rooftop at the exact point he had left.
"W-what's going on...?" he murmured, dazed.
Madara was no longer in front of him.
"You are in an illusion," said the voice the moment it appeared behind him.
As he turned, the sorcerer saw the same figure
he had seen inside that blue war monster.
His body froze in fear.
Madara, in his adult form, wearing the red armor,
stared at him as if he wasn't even worthy of being considered an enemy.
"P-please... I didn't know it was you..." the man stammered.
That was enough to make him collapse to the ground,
kneeling and in tears.
How could anyone deal with that Uchiha?
How could one remain conscious before that man?
The one who's been called a God among mortals upon seeing his abilities.
"I created this illusion just to make it clear
that I was already coming after you, regardless." Madara began,
his voice cold and calm.
**"After all, Henselt had little information about Vilgefortz...
but he knew you had initiated contact between the two.
So, you certainly would know more things.
I'm lucky I don't need to return to the capital in search of your memories."**
The sorcerer's eyes widened in horror, unable to move.
That was the last thing he would remember...
before his consciousness sank into deep darkness.
Outside the illusion, the mage's body began to collapse.
His head was removed with a single strike, rolling across the tiles,
as his lifeless body slumped.
Madara, now standing before the corpse,
had extracted all the information he needed—
including some clues about Vilgefortz's whereabouts,
even though the two had never spoken directly,
their relationship being quite cold.
"Looks like now... all that's left is to deal with the rest of these worms,"
Madara said, letting the body roll across the rooftops
until it tumbled off the edge of the house below.
His eyes turned to the city,
where most of the aggressive non-human groups had already been contained.
The humans were being freed,
and the repression of the innocent had been brought to an end.
Now, all Madara needed to do...
was ensure the humans got out safely after everything that had happened.
