It has been weeks since I was promoted to Baron.

The days following my transformation and promotion have blurred together; a blend of pain and confusion. Through the transformation my body was shattered and had to be rebuilt by the power my predecessor gave me, now I feel different. I can perceive things I have never been able to before, along with strange sensations and unexplainable phenomena. Astra has assured me that in the coming weeks, I will fully acclimate to this new, unstable power.

For now, I have been focused on learning more about my duties as lord and the territory I now govern. House Voss, though a Barony, controls a vast domain; around 40% of the system. This includes authority over various industries, be it military, commerce, or intelligence.

Despite this power, it is surrounded by enemies, some strong and imposing, some weak and less threatening. Some are visible, bold and proactive and others are hidden in the shadows, lurking and scheming.

Over the last few weeks, I have studied every aspect about my domain. Velmora, the capital planet is the heart of House Voss, home to most of the population and primary military pool. In addition to that, it hosts our agriculture and production industries that bring sustainability and income to the Barony.

From Velmora, there is the mining planet Dwaro, there are multiple outposts established there as bases for miners though the number is dismal. Though Dwaro is rich in minerals which are one of major income streams, it is barely inhabitable due to its harsh environment.

Then there are the twin planets, Alven and New Alven, these are the primary planets. They serve as the main nodes for trade, mining and manufacturing with the domain and finally are additional outposts scattered throughout the sector engaging in similar activities.

House Voss has claim over 40% of the system, which includes most valuable locations in the system. The remaining 60% is shared by two noble houses that are our neighbours.

Our system is located at the edge of the galaxy and my territory at the border, to our left, is House Ulix, a Viscounty. Despite them being a viscounty, they are weaker than Voss and own about 35% of the system with us. To the right, owning the remaining 25% is House Barax a Barony.

While these houses possess influence extending to other systems, here we are the dominant force but that does not mean we are invincible. Both Ulix and Barax own land that once belonged to House Voss and have been antagonistic with us for years, under different circumstances, they would not hesitate to instigate war but with the reputation of the House now, they are cautious.

I myself, have kept my existence hidden from the rest of the nobles. Hiding my identity will give me more time to solidify my power and protect myself. Thanks to the independence that I have inherited, I can decline mandatory summons and meetings with other nobles. Thanks to my predecessor's past behaviour in society, this is not suspicious.

In the first weeks of my rule, I focused on securing my position. With the assistance of the Circle, we have kept the power transition quiet. There have been no announcements, no major changes, or disturbances.

I ordered the head of the Inquisition to clean out any spies within her group, and after that, she launched discreet investigations into all influential figures within the territory. I instructed her to observe only and not act for the time being.

Additionally, I have met with the Circle members on separate occasions to get an idea of who they are and their thoughts about me as the new lord. Thankfully there has been no indication of disloyalty or opportunism. However, Kyra has reported a few persons of interest outside the Circle who pose a future threat.

I received a brief overview of our military strength. As a privilege from independence House Voss is allowed to have more forces than other Baronies. Though we suffered great losses during the last war, my predecessor has tried tirelessly to fill that shortage up. Currently, we are a little over the norm.

We have a strong military, in the hundreds of millions, ranging from Troopers to Shock Troopers all well-equipped. We also command three star fleets, the most for any Barony which normally possess one. Additionally, the House also has ten active family knights excluding Sir Oll'k of which are the strongest in the entire territory.

We are not lacking when it comes to star ships, most are modern generation and durable enough to pose a danger. Our relationship with the outside is normal and neutral at best, though we have enemies, there are no active conflicts. We maintain trade and diplomacy with others.

When it comes to my military and our position in the galaxy, I am not in a hurry or too worried.

As for the Divine Blood Core, after I got it, I tried learning more about it. It is unlike anything I have ever seen or experienced in all my entire life. Ever since I got it, I have felt a change in my body, I can feel my blood flowing through my veins. I can hear my heart pumping and my moving organs in a way I never could have before.

My senses have greatly been enhanced, my hearing is ten times better, and my sight can see great distances away. I feel as if I can do anything with my strength alone, yet, I sense that something foreign now resides within me.

Astra shared with me the secrets of nobles and the powers they get from the Divine Blood Core. I learnt a lot from her, I had long known the importance of nobles when it comes to safe hyperjump and heard rumours about their strange powers.

According to Astra, nobles possess psychic abilities. They can read the minds of anyone no matter how strong-minded unless they have taken certain measures. They can also send mental shockwaves to their opponents without lifting a finger strong enough to incapacitate.

The strength of a noble is determined by the concentration of their own Divine Blood Core.

Lesser nobles like myself have weaker Cores than high nobles like the Emperor. Additionally, nobles regularly enter a meditative state in which they get to manifest Void Prisms. These are used by star ships all over the galaxy to move across through the void safely.

Being able to produce them is another reason as to why nobles are essential. The sale of these Prism is a major source of income for a noble house.

I am still too weak but in time, I will master this power and make a name for myself.

Soon, my deadline will pass, and the Empire will be notified of my existence and when that time comes, the other nobles will come for me to dispute the reputation of this House. They will come through politics, sabotage, assassinations, or even war, I must be prepared.

I will strike before they get the chance to. I need to forge my own alliances and fortify my position. Thankfully, House Voss has a lot of money, and with its reputation, it will be much easier.

With the support of the Circle, I plan to expand our influence through trade, military, and partnerships. I know what I am able to do and what I must do.

House Voss is mine now, I will not fail, I will not be defeated.
