It was not a peaceful morning.
Not that Ollie would've had a great morning if this didn't happen. But this time, it wasn't just an isolated case of him feeling like his world was trembling.
This time, it was because the actual ground was shaking like rent was due and the landlord had backup.
Because somewhere between 5:50 and 6:00 a.m., a disaster decades in the making finally decided that today was the day to launch its career.
A resonant crystalquake.
What started out as a low, almost imperceptible hum, rising from the depths of the planet itself, started vibrating through the ground, the roads, and then the very floor panels of the dormitory complex.
Residents stirred. Some blinked. Others shot up, hands over their ears. A few screamed. A few cursed. At least one person probably cried.
Then a sharp, metallic twang rang out across the district like the planet had plucked its own nerve string.
