The sections that focus solely on Otto are meant to convey information the author wants readers to know, but which Ryn, Kiana, and the others wouldn't be aware of.
Following the defeat in the war, Kallen was stripped of many of her rights and her reputation plummeted. Her and Otto's positions within Schicksal were completely reversed.
Kallen had sealed nearly all the Honkai Beasts beneath Schicksal's cathedral, but Honkai continued to spread in the form of a disease.
Watching Otto immerse himself in his laboratory work, Kallen felt she couldn't fall behind. If he was working so hard to save the world, she had to do her part too.
The Phantom Thief's crimes grew increasingly brazen, forcing Schicksal to deploy its Valkyrie Squad to capture them. However, Otto stubbornly protected Kallen, even replacing the Valkyrie Squad with his own newly formed Valkyrie team.
But Otto hadn't anticipated the fanatical loyalty of Eleanor, the captain of his Valkyrie squad. Misinterpreting his orders, Eleanor began relentlessly pursuing Phantom Thief kallen.
After Eleanor's experiment succeeded, Otto became increasingly obsessed with human experimentation, even attempting to use healthy, living subjects.
"Becoming the Great Inventor and saving the world with Kallen" had become an obsession for Otto.
He realized he had completely lost his way...
But there was no turning back. Living, dead, neither living nor dead... Otto didn't know how many lives he had ruined, but he knew he could never let Kallen find out what he had done...
Yet paper could only wrap fire for so long...
The flower shop girl, Sasha, awakened her Stigmata. Her extraordinary abilities caught the attention of the Schicksal Organization.
She should have been an excellent Valkyrie candidate... but the Honkai had transformed into a plague.
One night, black-clad agents of Schicksal stormed Sasha's home and abducted her. Phantom Thief kallen, who had just completed a heroic act, witnessed the scene.
kallen tried to stop them, but they fled with Sasha.
She pursued the agents, leading her to Victor's mansion...
kallen searched Victor's mansion high and low but couldn't find Sasha. However, this time, she discovered a hidden basement she hadn't noticed during her first visit.
"What is this door made of?! Why can't even I break it open?!" kallen furiously attacked the basement's iron door, but it remained unyielding. "Why is the Schicksal emblem on it?"
"Who's there?! What are you doing? Guards! Come quick!"
kallen's commotion failed to breach the basement door but alerted Victor.
"Open the door immediately if you don't want to die!" kallen grabbed Victor and slammed him against the door.
Victor racked his brains, unable to understand why the Phantom Thief, after stealing all his money, would return to his home. But fearing for his life, he immediately unlocked the basement door.
After all, inside were... Otto and the Valkyrie Squad.
Hearing Kallen's voice, Otto immediately hid. He realized that the Schicksal Organization's activities in the basement could no longer be concealed from her, but at least... he didn't want Kallen to know he was involved.
"Sasha... Why!? Why are so many little girls locked up here!? What's going on!"
Kallen, holding Victor hostage, entered the basement and was horrified by what she saw. Not only was Sasha there, but many other children were imprisoned as well.
"Release them at once!" Kallen shouted, ordering Victor.
"No! This is all Your Excellency the Bishop's orders!" Victor protested, struggling. He knew Kallen wouldn't kill him, but if he released the children, Otto and the Bishop would surely execute him. Where the hell did that bastard Otto go? Come out and stop this damn woman!
"Release them now, or I'll break your limbs."
"No! This research is crucial! It could help us cure the Black Death..."
"Nonsense!"
"No... you don't understand." Victor stopped struggling. Since Otto wouldn't come out, he would tell this naive girl the truth himself.
Victor pointed at the Honkai Crystal in front of Sasha and said to Kallen, "The Black Death can be cured with medicine, but if we can unlock the secrets within that box... we can completely defeat Honkai!!"
"Captain Kallen!"
"What?"
Kallen turned instinctively when she heard her name, only to see Eleanor and the Valkyrie Squad staring at her.
"So it was you all along, repeatedly obstructing Schicksal and hindering Lord Otto! No matter your reasons, I'm taking you back!" Eleanor charged at Kallen, wielding three daggers in each hand.
"Eleanor, listen to me! These children are innocent..." Kallen didn't want to hurt Eleanor or involve the children, so she dodged without retaliating.
"Take this seriously and fight back!"
Eleanor, who hadn't landed a single hit on Kallen, shouted in frustration.
Then Kallen retaliated... with a swift kick that sent her flying.
"Stop this... I don't want to fight you..."
"Hmph, don't underestimate me..." Eleanor reached behind her, and began to channel her Holy Blood. Her hair gradually turned white as a long, black spear materialized in her hand—Abyss.
Abyss, a fragment of the Divine Key Abyss White Flower. After the Schariac Clan's decline, they not only granted the Apocalypse Family the right to bestow the title of Saintess, but also passed down Abyss, a part of the Abyss White Flower that symbolized the Saintess's status.
With her Holy Blood unleashed and Abyss in hand, Eleanor instantly overwhelmed Kallen. The withering power emanating from Abyss steadily weakened Kallen, leaving her body limp and powerless.
Lacking equipment, Kallen could only dodge repeatedly this time. But under Abyss's relentless assault, Eleanor finally found an opening and slashed her leg.
The power of the Abyss surged up from Kallen's leg wound, causing her to collapse weakly to her knees.
"Don't struggle. I won't let you harm Lord Otto again."
Eleanor raised the Abyss high, preparing to execute Kallen on the spot.
Kallen closed her eyes, already too weak to resist the Abyss's corruption.
Drip... drip...
But the Abyss didn't fall as Kallen had expected.
"Stop! Eleanor!" Otto grabbed the Abyss with his bare hand, blood dripping steadily from the blade.
"Lord Otto!!"
Seeing Otto standing behind her, wounded by her own Abyss, Eleanor dropped the blade in panic.
Why... is Lord Otto here?!
Before Kallen could dwell on this, Otto ordered Eleanor not to harm her. He summoned other Valkyrie Squad members to take Kallen away and imprison her.
As Kallen was led away, Eleanor turned to her Lord Otto.
"Are you alright, Lord... Otto?!"
Otto had already lost consciousness, his blood loss and the Abyss's withering power having taken their toll.
