Chapter 20 - Part 19: Dream 1

I hadn't really noticed Misaki's bed, but it's surprisingly big...

(Proof of this were Isao, Hana, and their mother lying in the same bed)

Wow...

(Actually, this surprised me since the mattress I had in my room only had a capacity for 2 people at most, but Misaki's seemed to have a capacity for 5 or 6 people if the people sleeping on it do so sideways...)

(Well... I guess the comforts of a rich girl...)

Are you guys comfortable?

Yes, Brother Takuya

Yes, it's very comfortable...

(The children snuggle around their mother)

(Well, they seem to be fine)

(-a few moments before-)

(After dinner, I could see the children starting to get sleepy)

(This actually worried me since there weren't many places to sleep and because of this I would probably have to sleep on the floor or in the bathtub, but thanks to the size of Misaki's mattress, that's no longer necessary...)

(Lucky me, I guess)

(After figuring out where the children would sleep, I head to the bedroom closet)

(Well...let's find a good sheet so we can spend the night)

(...)

(After finding one, I head to the bedroom entrance and say goodbye to Isao and Hana)

Good night, guys...

Good night, Brother Takuya...

(After saying goodnight, I turn off the light) the light and close the door)

(...)

(Today has been a very tiring day...)

(I take off my shirt, which was a little soaked with sweat, and once in the bathroom, I put it in the washing machine)

This is going to take a while...

(I originally planned to take a shower and go to sleep. But since I was brought into this world at a moment's notice, I only have the clothes I'm wearing...)

(The washing and drying process for the shirt will take about 1 hour and 30 minutes...)

(Well, I just have to wait...)

(...)

(After putting the shirt in the washing machine, I head to the living room...)

(Once in the living room, I lie down on the sofa)

(A couple of minutes pass)

(Sigh)

This is boring...

At times like this, I'd love to play a shooter or any adventure game with a good story, But...

(I glance at the living room TV and it didn't have a console)

(Sigh)

Well, it was to be expected...although...I could watch the TV...

(I get up from the sofa and grab the remote)

Let's see what's on the channels...

(...)

(I continued searching for a while, but only found one news channel that was still broadcasting, and I decided to watch it since the other channels just had a static screen)

(On the TV, a man acting as cameraman and presenter could be seen broadcasting a huge bridge)

The army's fleet retreats for the time being after being outnumbered. They abandoned their mission to protect the Hashi Bridge, which connects to the neighboring city of Zenith, in order to prevent the spread of the virus. However, due to the many casualties resulting from the confrontation, the army decided to carry out an evacuation for the time being, in order to protect as many citizens as possible and mitigate all possible deaths.

(The presenter focuses on the bridge and in it, a large number of zombies can be seen walking across it.)

As you can see, there is a huge group of zombies, estimated to be around 1,000, heading towards Zenith City. This does not include the zombies still in Totsumae City. The total number of infected is unknown, but it is estimated that two-thirds of the population has succumbed to this virus. As a precaution, we recommend that all our viewers not leave their homes and maintain minimal interaction with the outside world. For people who are showing symptoms such as fever, dry cough, and sore throat, we strongly urge you to self-quarantine for about 5 days. Remember that the safety of your family or the people you are with is in your hands.

(The program is being conducted.) A brief transition appears, and a very beautiful woman appears on the screen (she appears to be another host)

Thank you very much for the broadcast, Yamaguchi... Now we'll broadcast the confrontation between our armed forces, which was recorded by the drones...

The images are a bit powerful, so we recommend changing the channel if you're very sensitive or have children present...

(a few seconds pass)

Well...

(On the television, you could see how the confrontation unfolded. Many soldiers were shooting at the large crowd of infected. From the way I saw it, the confrontation resembled a resistance battle, in which the army had a clear advantage. Or so it seemed at first. As time went on, the enormous number of infected showed no signs of diminishing, and it inevitably led to a direct confrontation, in which the infected had the advantage due to their numbers.)

(You could see several soldiers being devoured alive by many infected. Their voices couldn't be heard due to the sound of helicopters circling the area. Still, their faces, contorted in agony, were proof of the pain of being torn apart by these things...)

(Ugh....)

(I turn off the television)

Enough television for today...

(I leave the remote on a small table near the sofa)

(I lie down again on the sofa)

I could kill time. Sleeping, after all, there's nothing I can do right now...

(I relax on the sofa)

Today was a tiring day...

(I look at a corner of the room while I continue to think about this whole situation up to that point)

(My eyelids feel heavy and after a few moments they give way, giving way to a deep sleep)

(zzz...zzz..zzz)

(...)

(What followed was a deep darkness, or so I thought)

We finally meet, human...

(Those were the words that emerged from the deep darkness, accompanied by a silhouette that was getting closer)

You...who are you...?

(The silhouette approaches a distance where it's visible to me and introduces itself)

(What was once a silhouette was now a mysterious figure wearing a mask and a dark suit)

Greetings, human... First of all, I must congratulate you for having survived so far. In fact, I thought you would die at the hands of the zombie that lunged at you, but you persevered, and that is worthy of praise.

(The mysterious figure applauds carefully)

Although I'm not very familiar with this gesture, I know that in your world it's used to congratulate someone...

(The mysterious person continued applauding for a few seconds until it suddenly stopped)

Oh... that's right, where are my manners...

(The mysterious figure bows slightly)

...You must be very confused by this whole situation right now.

(The figure snaps its fingers, and a kind of throne appears behind the mysterious figure's back)

I truly owe you a lot of explanations, but for now, let's get down to business. Comfortable

(The mysterious figure sits down and then looks at me)

....Won't you sit down?

...Sit down?

(The mysterious figure gestures with his hand and points behind me, and when I turn around, I find a chair)

(...)

(I finally sat down in the chair, which had a very simple shape but still felt very comfortable)

(The mysterious figure clears his throat)

Well, as I was saying, I owe you many answers about the truth of this world...
