Adeline raised a brow, watching as Andrei reached for the wall sconce just beside the wall and gave it a firm lift. The base creaked, revealing a small hollow pocket behind it. Inside was a small, silver key.
He pulled it out and slid it into the keyhole, turning it and unlocking the door. Then, stepping aside, he gestured for her to go in.
Adeline didn't hesitate and rushed into the room, eager, but the moment she did, her steps slowed and her expression shifted. "…Huh?"
She stopped just a few steps in and blinked around, scanning the space. It was completely empty. There was no furniture or anything that seemed like a portal—just pale tiled floors and plain painted walls.
She turned back toward the door, where Andrei was now inside, locking it behind him. "I don't see any portal," she said, crossing her arms.
Andrei calmly pointed to the wall directly across from them. "Touch that wall."
