Chapter 27 - trying to finally make some shit and uninvite visters

It's the third day in this house and yesterday we spent the whole damn day putting everything where it belongs. Also, I went back to school yesterday because it opened again after blowing up, which I really don't care about, because I'm kind of set for life now with the deal I got with Bruce.

Now, I just got back from school like ten minutes ago and I'm in my workshop, which by the way is perfect for me, because it's got everything I need—from simple wood carving tools to mechanic tools—so I can make a lot of things now, starting with the protective runes around the manor property before I do anything planting related.

Now, I already know what rune I'm going to use after a lot of thinking about the best one for this manor, and I call it the Hearthward Rune. This one only needs to be placed in the manor. I plan on putting the main one on a granite block that's like two feet long, wide, and tall, then I'm going to carve the rune into the middle of it. Then, me and the girls are going to have to place our hands on the central sigil and say our true full names for us to enter the property with no problem at all. I'm also going to make some guest runes so I can give them to people to come in and out as if they were me or the girls.

Now onto the functions of it, because I haven't explained what it does well enough. The main thing is that it creates a powerful invisible magical boundary around the whole property. Second, for resident entry there are two ways to do it: first is saying one's true full name, because from what I understand it connects to our soul in a way; then there's the blood touch, which is what the name says. Third, permission-based entry is where you use the guest rune or we say you can come in at the speaker at the front gate. Fourth, hostile repulsion is where if someone tries to cross the boundary without permission, they're gently pushed back with increasing force. If malicious intent is detected, the rune can stun, bind, or raise an alarm in the resident's head. Fifth, the disguise piercing part of it will make a person go back to their true identity if they shapeshift or something like that, and lastly the stealth alert makes it so even invisible or ethereal beings cannot bypass it unless permitted.

There are some other minor parts of this, like how it allows wild or non-hostile animals to not be affected by the rune at all.

Anyway, I turn on Ren at 15%, then I sketch out my hand and focus on conjuring a black granite block that's two feet long, wide, and tall. Then it pops out of thin air and I catch it before it can hit the floor, and it wasn't that heavy. I mean, I do have Ren on at 15% so it makes sense it's not heavy for me.

I put the granite on the floor, put on my headphones, and put some music on—which was Queen because I love Freddie Mercury and he's my favorite gay man ever. Anyway, I then head over to get the stone carving tools and a pencil chalk.

Then I sit down on the floor, tie on my apron, and start to draw and outline the shape of the rune on the granite so it'll be easier to carve out for me.

Once it's fully outlined on the granite, I use Shu at 15% as I grab the hammer and pointed chisel, and I start to carve out the outline of it.

As I'm carving it out, I'm pouring my mana into the granite like I'm supposed to from the info I got from the Essence of Crafter—it has to have the mana infused into it so the rune gets familiar with mana and begins to absorb mana in the air into it.

I stop and blow the dust off my hand, then I reach into my pocket to take out my phone because I got a text.

It was from Sona and it says, "COME TO THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE NOW!!"

I swipe the dust off and rush over to the front of the house because it must be important—Sona doesn't use caps unless it's important.

When I get to the front, I see two crazy ass bitches who should NOT be here right now.

Because why in the fuck are Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy in my fucking house?!

Like, I've only really done one hero-type thing and that was like a week ago, and the only thing was saving and healing people—I didn't fight anybody.

"Ah, Scorch-Gardener, it's nice to finally meet you after how much The Green keeps praising you to me," Poison Ivy said to me as she walked up and looked me up and down, trailing her finger from my stomach to my chin, then she said, "And the hyp—"

"Red, is this that boy you keep talking about!?" Harley asked Ivy all excited as she jumped around me to check me out.

And I am kind of embarrassed right now because I am not built like the rest of the heroes body-wise—I'm kind of chubby—and now these Ivy and Harley are hot as shit, and it's the green skin Ivy so that's extra hot.

Here's the thing for why the girls actually let them in without a fight or aren't that scared: it's because these two are the most chill, only really do robberies when they need money, and they don't really harm people around them unless on the rare occasion when they're on some anti-hero type shit.

But that does not mean Harley doesn't get manipulated by the Joker sometimes to go back to him, because she does sometimes, then she does a lot of horrible things and realizes what is happening so she goes back to Ivy, then it all repeats itself.

"Uhh, what do you ladies need from me?" I asked as I stopped Harley's hand from touching my hair, which she pouted at.

"Well because, cutie, you so happen to be the greatest savior to all of nature and to heal it properly. Also, The Green says that the safest place for me and Harley is being around you and it has never failed me, so I trust you with my life," Ivy answered.

"And I trust Red, so we decided that we are living here now with you!" Harley said after Ivy spoke, as she went behind Ivy and hugged her.

"What?" Me and the girls said at the same time because I was not expecting that at all—that was random as shit. Like, they don't even know us, yet they're just going to move in with me all because The Green said to. I mean, I am basically a god of healing if you look at all my healing powers and what I can do with them.

"Uhm, Gray dear, please come over here so we can talk," Sophie said as she and the other girls waved me over.

When I went over to them, Sona just bluntly asked me, "Gray, what in the fuck did you do and why did she call you Scorch-Gardener?"

"I have no idea," I answered the second question because Scorch-Gardener sounds like a title and I assume that's what The Green calls me, but why I have no idea. I mean, I don't have fire powers to my knowledge. I know I'm a meta-human because I have the gene, but it's locked. I can force it to unlock but that would hurt me a lot, and if The Green is calling me that then it means that I have pyrokinesis powers.

I'll force my meta-gene to unlock later in a safe place to see what it is.

I get a text and I take out my phone to check who it was from. It was Bruce.

"Let them live with you." That's all he texted me and it's typical that he's watching me.

Fucking stalker Batman.

"We are going to let them live with us," I told the girls and they were shocked.

"Gray, are you sure?" Veronica asked me.

"Yeah, I'm sure. Plus, I can keep them a little bit under control," I said, and I plan on healing the whole Joker obsession because that's a mental illness—she was basically brainwashed into being in love with him. Also, in theory if I do it right (which I will), I can heal that out of her while keeping the personality she has now, or I can just let my presence ability do its thing while I do nothing really.

Yeah, I'm just going to let my presence do its thing, because it's supposed to make a person slowly become the best version of themselves, and I don't think she'd like me messing with her mind, so I'm not even going to bring it up unless she asks if I can do that for her. Honestly, if someone messed with my head without me knowing, I'd be pissed off.

I turned around to Ivy and Harley and then I said, "Well, you two can stay here on a few terms—like, you cannot do any type of crime under this roof at all unless it's necessary."

"WHAT?!? NO CRIME!?" Harley said sounding very dramatic, then she said, "I can live with that, a little bit," dropping the whole dramatic bit.

"I have no problems with that at all," Ivy said, then she added, "I have been meaning to get out of the whole crime business anyway."

"There are more rules and terms that Sophie and Veronica can tell you," I said, kind of throwing them under the bus.

I then rushed to my workshop to really get that rune made as fast as possible, because if I'm going to have those two living here, then I'm going to need something to protect this place like golems. Yeah, that's a good idea—I got a golem rune in mind that I can connect to the Rune of the Hearthward Threshold's alarm part, called Warden Stone Glyph.

When I got to the workshop, I went back to work fast yet still at a decent speed because you can't rush perfection at all.

Now on the topic of golems, I think that I'm going to make little ones for the garden/farm. There's a cute little rune called Greenhand Golems. Unlike the other golem rune, I have to either make a clay body, carve a wood body, or cobblestone body. A basic one of those with no sub-runes is great like: it has plant tending where it waters the crops, also detects soil dryness via mana feedback; weeding & digging is where it gently removes weeds without disturbing roots of nearby plants, also can dig small trenches for irrigation or planting; harvest support, where it carries small baskets of fruit, herbs, or vegetables and recognizes ripe crops by touch, smell, or pre-programmed glyph cues; and finally pest watch, chasing off small animals or pests without harming them, and emits a low hum or pulse to ward off bugs magically.

It can connect to the Hearthward Rune to know where to stay in, and don't get me started on the sub-runes for it like Bee-friend, Bloom-care, and others.

I do need to make some clay jars and pots to hold the things that I plan on planting to keep them fresh, and I got a better rune for it than the one I used last time.

But I'll make that when I got the garden set up and all the golems, and also get those anti-mind related necklaces made for the girls.

I grab a brush that was on the floor next to me and I start to brush the du—

"What you doing?" Harley asked me as she walked into my workshop like she owned it, and that kind of pissed me off a little bit.

"Making something," I told her as I brushed the dust off the granite to take a good look at the rune, and it looked amazing.

"What is that?" Harley asked as she walked over to me, I assume to get a better look at the rune.

"Something."

"You know, you are really boring with those answers."

"Cry about it," I said to her as I stood up with the granite in my hands then I left the workshop as I nodded to Harley to follow me.

While walking to the front of the house, I decided to ask Harley, "You sure living here is what you want?"

"Yeah, 'cause me and Red are kind of done hurting people and causing chaos because it's gotten boring and me and her want to rest from all that life." She answered me with her voice sounding tired and it didn't feel like she was lying to me, so I'm kind of going to trust her a little bit.

"That is good and I am happy for you, but here's the thing: I care about the girls a lot and if anything happens to them, then I am going to be putting people in the ground," I said to her as I used Ren, and I think that I added a little bit of bloodlust like I wanted to, 'cause Harley was shaking a little bit.

That was cringe, not going to lie.

"I understand, I would do the same for Red," Harley said as she calmed herself and I stopped using Ren.

"Good to know," I said as I took out my phone and texted into the group chat that has me and the girls in it, "Come to the front of the house now please with Ivy."

"Where do you think this would look good at?" I asked Harley as I gestured to the granite.

She took a good look at it and then said, "Just put it next to the doors, no one will question why you got something like this there because rich folks got a lot of weird things."

I nodded as I set it down next to the front door on the left side.

As I did that, the girls and Ivy got to the front of the house and Sona asked me, "What is that, Gray?"

"Something to keep us and the property safe," I answered as I took out a sage stick and lit it, waving it to the rune, and the rune glowed, so now it was activated. Then I took out a piece of wood that I ripped off the manor and I pressed it against the rune and it sucked it into the rune. Once I did all that, I could feel the barrier starting to form around the property.

I then put my hand above the rune and said, "Gray Galena." After I said that, I felt myself connect to the rune.

I turned to the rest, who all had a confused look on their face, then I said to them, "I want every single one of y'all to put your hand above the rune and say your true full name, and once you're done I will explain what it is."

Sona was the first one to walk up to the rune and she put her hand above it, then she said, "Sona Mikalson Medusa," and she paused after she did all that, then looked around because I assume she could feel the connection to it too.

Then one by one, they did it too, while having a similar reaction to each other.

"Are you going to explain what that was now?" Sona asked me.

"It is a protection rune that will keep the whole property safe from almost everything, while also not allowing anyone who is not us in unless we give them permission to enter." I gave them a very simple and basic breakdown of what it is.

"You know how to do runes and magic?!" Harley asked me.

"Runes, yes. Magic, no, not really." I answered, then asked Ivy and Harley, "Did y'all bring all your things in a car here and do y'all gotta get your things?"

"Oh, we got all our things in two moving trucks that we stole a while ago!" Harley answered my question, and I am not surprised, really.

I just sighed as I then asked them, "Please tell me that you at least put your things in boxes."

Harley just looked at me with a smile while Ivy looked away from me and coughed into her hand.

I sighed even deeper as I just walked to my workshop to not deal with them and let them put all their things themselves in their room, which I assume they are going to share.
