Chapter 6 - chapter 6

Rohan

I'm completely lost… This maze of a school is endless. Whoever built this place is a complete idiot. I'm sure Neros is just as lost as I am mhm Well, no use standing around, I guess I could just walk the way back the way I came. With that, I turned around to walk, but I instantly stopped… Because fate had finally blessed me. Standing in front of me was the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen. She had blue eyes with no pupils and long wavy purple hair with jewels on the two braids looping to the back of her head. It seems fate has brought us together, my lady. Let's skip all the formalities and just tie the knot and get married. I bowed and extended my hand to her; something I picked up in a children's book I saw once. She was taking a while to say yes though I opened one of my eyes. I must've laid it on too strong, but before I even knew what was happening, the toe of a very obviously overpolished boot collided with the side of my head.

Eventually, I was in my assigned room. I had never seen a room so clean and… beautiful. I had a small living room with a lamp, one window, a work bench and 2 chairs. It was all seamlessly connected to the kitchen. A small hall led to my bedroom and bathroom. My bed was bigger and more comfortable than anything I'd slept on in my life. But most importantly… Hot water, a hot shower. Before I knew it I was in the shower basking in the hot water, I felt like my soul was being cleansed. Stepping out of the shower and grabbing my towel, I looked in the mirror. I was happy, excited even but also guilty. My sisters were probably having it rough right now.I let out a sigh. I looked in the mirror again and frowned. I reached for my face and began taking the brown contacts out of my eyes. Once I was finished, I looked at myself again, frowning. My eyes shifted to a dark guilty yellow and then to a calming dark blue as I let out a sigh. I was a half-elf.. hybrids were pretty much regular in today's world, so there was really no reason to hide not up here in the big world. But back down there… My eyes, the only testament to my mother and my elf lineage, was a weakness because they portrayed whatever dominant emotion I was feeling at that moment. I didn't get any other obvious traits than my eyes from my mother. Looking at myself again, my eyes shifted to middle gray as I thought about my mother. Unlike me, my sisters inherited lots from my mother, her dark brown skin and long pointy ears. My mother was an officer in the military once. She was strong and fought a lot of battles. But something happened that got her stripped of her title and Sir's name, which got us dumped in the slums. I don't know what happened, so there was really no room for me to hold any resentment towards my mother. I don't think I could even if I did know. I sighed and rubbed my arm. My skin was an alabaster color like my father's. I didn't hate my skin, but I wondered what I'd look like with my mother's skin color. I chuckled and let out the final sigh of the day. I needed to rest.
