Chapter 11 - Wednesday's Worries

Walking into the skate shop, a small gust of wind hits his entire body as the terrain of the skate shop opens to his vision, the lights, skateboard, wheels, skates, rollerblades, everything was here. Perfect for Do-Yun.

Do-Yun looked to the clerk before looking around with other people, he looked to his left, then his right, and began touching the wheels, skates, and even the skateboards, up until his system gave a reaction.

"[Phantom Ride] is available for use." The system prompt made Do-Yun aware as he touched a skateboard, before taking his hand off, and then he walked to the clerk.

"Excuse me, Noona, are there Roller skate wheels around? Or your company's skate shoes?"

The clerk's eyebrow shot up before she pointed to a separate aisle in this large skate shop, specifically meant for roller shoes and roller blades.

"Over there, Dongsaeng." She says before sitting back down.

Do-Yun goes to that aisle and begins touching the wheels of roller skates. The system reacts six times.

He goes back each time, placing the objects his system reacted to next to each other.

"I'll buy two," Do-Yun said, as his budget was quite large for someone his age, considering his selling of the obsidian spear and multiple slime gels.

"No, one would do. Roller skates would be redundant when I have roller shoes..." Do-Yun picked up the skateboard as the system once again reacted.

"PING!" Phantom Ride is available for use.

Huh...It's not very expensive either... Do-Yun smiled and walked to the counter.

"Noona, I'll have this." Do-Yun puts down the skateboard in front of the clerk. She looks at it, scans it, and types it on the register.

"70,000 Won, Dongsaeng"

Do-Yun nods, smiling because this board was worth far more than 70,000 Won. He knows there are parts that were made from monsters from the dungeons. He puts down the 70,000 Won and takes the board before bowing his head to her.

"Thank you!" Do-Yun takes the board, forgetting his receipt, and the light in his eyes is like a smoldering flame.

The moment he got outside, he attempted to ride it, but he couldn't control his balance and fell.

"Ow..." Do-Yun mumbled as he activated the transport link almost instinctively and made it roll to him slowly.

"Well, that's new..." Do-Yun picked up the skateboard and went on his phone, and started searching for videos for beginner skateboarders in order to learn how to ride.

"My roller shoes won't be enough one day... I kind of disappointed myself..." Do-Yun said to himself as he recalled that [Transport Link] is like a Hummer; it guzzles his mana like a Hummer guzzles gas, regretting buying the skateboard before solving his mana issue.

"Transport Link doesn't make me automatically learn how to ride... It's more like giving my ride...sentience. Motorized sentience letting it act separately, independent of myself, as if it ran on a motor. I can have my wheels roll on their own...As long as my connection to the vehicle isn't interrupted." Do-Yun made a mental note as he spoke to himself, noting more rules of the transport link. He had about one more week before his school reopened for classes.

[Transport Link.] Do-Yun's Transport Link flared to life as his skill made it known to the modes of transport around him: His new Skateboard and his Roller Sneakers. H picks his roller sneakers.

"Deploy Wheels," Do-Yun said as he suddenly increased in height, his wheels deployed from under his shoes. "I'm getting better at controlling this."

Do-Yun kicks off once more, going towards his home. If there was one thing he could do, he could increase his control. He'd begin practicing how to use his new skateboard. For once, Phantom Ride was accessible for him to use.

[Phantom Ride]

Cut to Do-Yun's Childhood friend, practicing with her rapier, having fun with her new skills, she cherished her time with Do-Yun, thinking about how they killed slimes together, and how he let her have first pick of any loot. She then giggled, remembering how goofy he looked because he couldn't control his roller shoes and slammed into a nearby tree.

She thought about calling him, they had around another week before their school opened up again.

"Should I call him? No No... He'll call me..."

After thinking about it, she picks up her phone, but she just holds it, then puts it down.

Her phone rings, her ring tone seemed to be a cover of a song she liked, she picked it up expecting Do-Yun. However, it was just her mom who called her.

Cut to Do-Yun again, he's practicing on his skateboard. He wasn't half bad by now; he could ride it, and by splashing water or slime on the ground, he could perform an assisted power slide to stop his skateboard. He wished he could do tricks with his skateboard.

"Maybe I shouldn't use a skateboard yet...I don't think I even mastered my Roller Shoes yet..." Do-Yun was beginning to feel depressed; he'd go back to just using his skate shoes. He began venting his emotions, gritting his teeth, and skating through the streets without [Transport Link], beginning to learn how to control the roller shoes more. He focused on raw mastery, he had no destination, he wasn't skating toward anywhere, managing his weight, balance, and staying calm before stopping at a junk yard. Something caught his eye. A dented Motorcycle helmet.

Do-Yun rolled toward the helmet, taking the trash and metal off of it to reveal its full glory. it was dented, and the visor was missing, and the bottom of the helmet could move. He took the helmet to a nearby vehicle shop. He opens the door.

"Um...Hello! I'd like to know what kind of helmet this is!"

A young-looking male grunted and nodded. "Bring it here."

Do-Yun gave the helmet to the clerk.

"I think it's broken, but I like the design, it's sleek, but the bottom is broken and the visor is missing-"

"The Visor is missing, but the bottom sure ain't broken."

"Huh?"

"Kid, this is one of those Modular helmets with both a moving face guard and a moving visor." The man said

"That makes it easier, then. Is it possible to replace the Visor?"

"Yeah, we can do that." The man gets up and goes to a door behind him with the helmet, and it takes a while to return. When he did return, he luckily had a perfectly fitting. All fixed, Sir.

"Thanks, how much?"

"On the House, man."

"Really? Are you sure? This was a Visor replacement..."

"Boss accidentally overstocked on Visors of different sizes, we got a few extra that we'd eventually be forced to throw away. Don't worry."

"O-Oh, Okay, thank you for your business..." Do-Yun was surprised at his luck, the Dent was still in the helmet, he looked up a few videos, and would resolve to fix the dent later. The boy looked at the helmet, then thought to put it in his inventory, and the helmet vanished.
