"Nikolas," Selene said, her voice shaking as she tried not to let the tension in the room get to her.
Nikolas turned his head to face her. His hardened expression immediately dissolved as his gaze held hers.
His hazel-green eyes, which were blazing with anger just moments ago, softened the moment they met hers.
Selene felt her stomach twist as they began tying into knots.
Did the touch of her hand or simply saying his name actually calm him down? She had thought it would not work, but she had done it anyway.
Just the thought that he cared about her enough to let himself be consumed by anger made her stomach flutter.
She had tried not to meddle in his family affair, so she had decided to sit back and listen to at least understand why Austin would do this.
