Chapter 89 - This is Teyvat, Not Warhammer 40K!

Shen Qin and Klee turned to see Lumine and Paimon approaching—one walking, the other floating.

"Big Sister Traveler! Little Paimon! What are you doing here?" Klee greeted them cheerfully.

"We were escorting the wounded back," Paimon said, flying over to high-five Klee.

Lumine stepped forward. "We took an Adventurers' Guild commission—not frontline combat, just clearing out monster clusters and handling logistics."

"Yeah! And we made so much Mora in just a few days!" Paimon added excitedly.

"Paimon, we're not doing this for Mora," Lumine said, narrowing her eyes.

"Ehe~ I know! Our main goal is to protect Mondstadt," Paimon giggled. "The Mora just happens to buy us delicious food!"

Klee clapped enthusiastically. "So cool! Klee wants to go blast bad guys too, but Master Jean said I have to protect Shen Qin! After thinking about it, Klee decided protecting him is more important!"

Shen Qin smiled and patted her head.

"It's safer for Klee to stay in the city. The frontline battles are… too brutal," Paimon began, but Lumine quickly tugged her away.

"We haven't eaten all day, I'm starving! Gotta grab food at Good Hunter. See you later!"

Damn, they must've earned a fortune if they're splurging at Good Hunter.

"Big Sister Lumine was even greedier than Paimon today! Usually, it's Paimon dragging her to eat!" Klee whispered to Shen Qin.

"True. Sometimes, even I'm more playful than Klee," Shen Qin chuckled.

Jean had kept Klee away from the war for a reason. Mentally, she was still a child—one who shouldn't witness the horrors of battle. So Jean assigned her to "protect" Shen Qin, ensuring she stayed safely in the rear.

"Lies! Klee is not playful!"

"Sure, sure~"

Klee eyed Shen Qin's arm, then suddenly leaped and latched onto it. "You teased Klee! Punishment time—be my swing!"

That night, Klee slept soundly in the guest room while Shen Qin tossed and turned, haunted by images of the fallen soldiers returning from the frontlines.

"System, let's do a draw. Maybe something can change this."

He used his last random draw chance—and nearly choked when the result appeared.

『 Bolter Weaponry : Principles and Technical Implementation 』

"System, this is Genshin Impact, not Warhammer 40K!"

Indeed, he'd drawn the primary weaponry of Space Marines—bolters.

Unlike conventional firearms (which rely on gunpowder propelling a bullet), bolter rounds self-accelerate after firing, like miniature rockets. This makes them far more destructive than standard bullets.

And the variants were terrifying:

Armor-piercing rounds (hardened cores), High-explosive rounds (internal detonators), Incendiary rounds (chemical fuel), and Fragmentation rounds (pre-impact dispersal)

"Might as well have given me plasma weapons at this point!"

He'd avoided plasma tech precisely because it was too overpowered—letting ordinary humans rival elite monsters (or even Vision-wielders). That would've escalated Teyvat's conflicts into all-out war… or attracted Celestia's wrath.

The only "advantage" of bolters was that they wouldn't immediately trigger divine retribution.

Still, he needed to research whether Teyvat had similar weapons to gauge potential repercussions.

...

...

The next morning, Shen Qin took Klee to the library. She loved storybooks, so she didn't mind—though she missed Fischl, who'd left for the frontlines.

After scouring dozens of ancient texts, Shen Qin discovered:

Firearms were mass-produced in Khaenri'ah, powered by rare Chaos Energy. Modern elemental firearms existed but required Visions to operate.

At least bolters won't stand out too much.

Now the real challenge is making them… precise.

Previous inventions (like the flying hoverboards and prosthetics) relied on alchemical "magic" to bypass technical limits. But bolters were purely mechanical—requiring machining tolerances Teyvat might not achieve.

You can't get a machining lathe out, he can't do that either.

No, it has to be changed! It is necessary to combine the metaphysics of alchemy to reduce the difficulty of processing explosive weapons.

And he has already figured out which kind of individual explosive weapon to develop― the bolter rifles!

This weapon, is powerful, hand-held, ballistic anti-personnel weaponry in use by the military forces of the Imperium of Man. It is a powerful assault weapon that fires explosive kinetic rounds colloquially referred to as "bolts". Shen Qin may only need to optimize its structure and power a little bit. After all, the Space Marines with the blessing of power armour can basically ignore its recoil, but the ordinary people in Teyvat may be powerful with a single shot. Its recoil will tear an average person's arm!

Shen Qin also found a lot of blueprints and information on Teyvat's mechanical weapons in the built-in database of the bracelet. Thus, Shen Qin referred to their technology and made modifications to the original prototype of the bolter rifle.

Gunpowder is not a problem. Klee has mastered the methods of making various types of gunpowder. They just needs to adjust the explosive power to the appropriate size.

As long as the buttstock, grip and other things can be used, there is no requirement for the processing accuracy.

The hammer, gas system, return mechanism, and magazine have certain requirements for accuracy, but it is not that important. It is enough as long as they can ensure normal operation without malfunction.

The only two things that need to be adjusted are the barrel and the optics. The barrel has the highest requirement for precision, and that is, to withstand the explosion of gunpowder for a long time without deformation or damage, and at the same time ensure the accuracy and acceleration of the bullet. The aiming device needs to slowly adjust the data after the barrel is formed.
