Dana was suddenly filled with enthusiasm for learning again.
War magic and nature magic were both ancient branches that had long been lost to time, holding immense power. The spellcasting techniques within them were beyond the reach of today's wizarding world.
After successfully engraving a small magic guiding array into his left arm, Dana had already become capable of casting some powerful spells—an excellent trump card and secret weapon for him.
During the day, he attended classes; at night, he hid in the second level of Merlin's Vault to study ancient magic and sleep. On rest days, if there was a Chudley Cannons game, Dana would also show up for a few seconds. His life was fulfilling and structured.
Until the arrival of the Christmas holidays, which meant that Count Dentis, who was "handling family affairs in the East," was returning to England.
This Christmas, the twins received the best Christmas gifts they had ever received in their lives:
—A twenty-year lease for a shop in the New City Center, and an initial capital of five hundred Galleons.
"Dana is too generous!"
Fred said, his face full of emotion.
George hugged his brother, excitedly saying,
"Our magical joke shop can open immediately!"
Fred nodded.
"But we must give Dana fifty percent of the shares!"
"I don't think that's enough. The shop and the money are all from Dana. The house prices in the New City are outrageous now! We probably couldn't afford a shop in the city center even if we sold our whole family!"
"You're right, Dana should be the boss—but he's only played Quidditch for less than a year. How can he afford a property in the New City?"
"Don't forget, he's the core of the Chudley Cannons for the next few decades, and the Cannons belong to Count Dentis! Coincidentally, almost the entire New City also belongs to this Count."
"Wow, I heard the Count is very generous—and now it seems that's really the case!"
"Let's go to the New City tomorrow to check out our shop!"
"Okay!"
The hill where the Weasleys' Burrow was located lay just to the east of the New City. Walking down took less than half an hour, and besides, this was wizarding territory. The twins could simply fly down on their brooms and arrive in the blink of an eye.
"Dinner's ready!"
Mrs. Weasley's booming voice echoed throughout the house. The twins walked out the door with wide smiles, bumping into Ron, who looked excited with a small owl (the kind worth 5 Galleons) perched on his head.
"Look, Fred, George, this is my Christmas gift! An owl!"
"Oh, not cheap, Ron. Got a rich friend? Was it Harry?"
"No…"
Ron was a little embarrassed, but finally said,
"It was Dana who gave it to me—I have to admit, he is generous."
"Haha,"
George slapped Ron on the shoulder.
"You got such a hefty gift, and you're not even willing to say his name—I bet you didn't even prepare a gift for Dana, did you?"
Ron blushed.
"How could I not—I'll have it sent to him tomorrow!"
"Tomorrow?"
"Christmas owls are busy. It's normal to be one or two days late!"
While trying to stay firm, Ron was already thinking hard about what to give Dana—damn it, after buying gifts for Harry, Hermione, Neville, Seamus, Dean, and Ginny, he had barely any pocket money left!
Originally, he had planned to buy some sweets on the Hogwarts Express after the break.
Downstairs, the table was already full of dishes—most of which the Weasley children had never seen before.
Fred grabbed a square, reddish-brown piece of meat, tossed it into his mouth, and let out a satisfied groan.
George did the same, equally pleased.
Mrs. Weasley came out of the kitchen holding a large pot of soup.
"Fred! George! Go wash your hands!"
"Yes, ma'am!"
The twins ran toward the kitchen, giggling as they asked,
"Mum, when did your cooking get so good?"
Molly smiled.
"That's thanks to the Christmas gift Dana sent me—a transliterated copy of a set of Chinese recipes!"
Ron proudly tapped the owl on his head.
"Recipes aren't as valuable as my owl."
Molly rolled her eyes.
Ron didn't notice the look of exasperation and turned to Ginny, who had just come downstairs, still looking unwell.
"Ginny, besides family, did you get any gifts from classmates?"
Ginny nodded.
"Harry and Dana both sent me something."
Poor girl. A whole semester had passed, and she still hadn't made any close friends—her roommates were mostly Muggle-born or half-blood, and in their eyes, Ginny was a pure-blood family's daughter. Naturally, she was seen as different.
"Dana gave you something too? What was it?"
Ginny replied,
"A set of strawberry-flavored tonics."
Ron blinked, disapproving.
"Who gives someone medicine for Christmas?"
Ginny huffed.
"I don't know why I became so weak in early December. I'm still not better! You're my brother, and you weren't even as concerned as Dana was!"
Just then, Percy came downstairs, reading a book as usual.
"Percy, put the book down, it's time to eat."
"Okay, Mum," Percy nodded.
Ron glanced at the title—Management Studies. Ugh, boring Percy.
Mrs. Weasley called to the garden,
"Arthur! Dinner's ready!"
Arthur's excited voice echoed back:
"Just a moment! I think I've figured out how to operate this generator!"
Clearly, the only person who would give Arthur a Muggle generator was Dana.
Perhaps, of all the Weasleys, Ron was the only one to receive a Christmas gift from Dana somewhat unwillingly.
"Arthur,"
Mrs. Weasley said at the table,
"Dana gave our whole family Christmas gifts. I'd like to invite that child to come spend a few days with us."
Arthur nodded.
"Of course. I'll write him a letter after dinner."
Fred laughed.
"No need, Dad—Dana isn't in England this Christmas."
"Not in England? Where is he?"
Percy looked up and said,
"He's probably traveling in Europe. I heard Professor McGonagall say Dana's mother's last wish was to travel the continent with him."
Molly placed her hand on her chest.
"Oh, that poor child."
Suddenly, Ron's expression changed. He put his fork down.
Up until now, his gift might have been the most expensive—five Galleons!
"Fred, George, what did Dana give you two?"
The twins looked at each other and grinned.
"Nothing. Just a future."
Ron: Huh?
How much is a future worth? Is it more than five Galleons?
