Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Mission

"Come on Quin there about to steal the objective push up your the freaking tank! "

Screaming into the microphone as I gunned down another enemy, I felt my heart pound as I moved towards the objective killing enemy players along the way as my health ticked down, the controller gripped in my hand groaning as I moved the joy stick with an adeptness that would border on inhuman.

"I cleared the objective come on guys 20 more points!"

Saying this as I slid onto the objective I opted to use my characters ability in the form of a speed boost allowing me to weave the in coming fire from the respawning enemy.

"I'm here Yon, i'm here!"

Hearing Quins voice over the microphone I was relieved to see his character move in as he plopped down a shield absorbing incoming damage as we ran down the time as out points ticked up finally netting us a win.

"Good job Quin"

Saying this as I leaned back into my chair I felt a sigh of relief escape me.

"Hey Yon, I have to get off"

Hearing Quinn voice I took a second to tell him goodbye as I decided to switch from the game to web browser having turned off the controller and reconnected the keyboard.

'Another city block leveled huh'

Seeing a news article of an 'earthquake' that destroyed an entire city block, I knew better than to believe such a half baked lie, but moving passed this I instead focused on the shinning red exclamation mark in the corner of my vision.

[User has received a mission]

'Well thats unexpected'

Seeing a change to the system for the first time in weeks, I wasted no time opening the system a pitch black floating screen with red writting marking its arrival.

'Atleast I got my class features'

Thinking this I could only sigh at my status which was in all honesty quite shit, be it the lack of Feats or the 10 across the board in stats.

Luckily though I still had my class Features from barabarin a class that I was automatically assigned when I first awoke in this world, though I didn't mind the class I did find that one of the two features proved less than useless due to my flat stats across the board.

'Lets move on'

Finally arriving at the mission section I felt curiosity peak as I opened it.

[White Mold]

[Description: A white mold has been expanding in the dark places of your neighborhood, find its source]

[Reward: ???, Two stat points and 2 random skills, Random weapon]

'White mold?'

Reading the mission description a frown instantly spread across my face when it mentioned my neighborhood.

Though the quest felt quite simple and it only asked for me to find the source, I've read to many stories and played to many games to not understand risk to reward.

So seeing how this quest it not only offering me Stat points the value of which can't be understated, which is not even mentioning the skills and the random weapon this mission just screamed danger.

'I can't even ignore it'

The fact that something dangerous was in my neighborhood made it impossible to ignore it plus the fact that it's, expanding means it will one day reach me.

Well not like I was going to anyways as this was a opportunity I've been waiting weeks for.

Having a system at first made me excited but having no way to gain skills or stats I found myself stagnant and just living a ordinary life.

Well as ordinary as 10 floor apartment building owner in the most dangerous part of the city can get.

*Knock* *Knock* *Knock*

Breaking away from my thoughts at the Knock at the door I stood up as I went to answer it.

"Hey Yon, can we talk"

Opening the door I was greeted by a brown haired woman who looked to have seen better days.

Her skin was pale bordering on almost ghostly, her lips dry and chapped, heavy black circles complimenting her exhausted hazel eyes that stared up at me as I greeted her in return.

"Of course would you like to come inside? If its about the rent I remeber during the last tenant meeting I said I would lower it"

Shaking her head the clearly overworked women sighed as she looked around seemingly scared of something.

"No, its about my husband he's...sick"

Pausing as she spoke lily tried to find the right words I felt my curiosity peak as my previous casualness shifted to sharp focus.

"Sick?"

Asking this I saw the women shake her head as those words didn't seem quite right and as having an idea as she spoke.

"Its hard to explain follow me and I will show you "

Nodding my head I got ready to follow her, but first I made a trip back to my bedroom where I pocketed heavy pistol that looked similar to CZ 75 as I then followed lily to her apartment which was on the 6th floor.

"Let me just give you a warning before we enter"

Stopping before we entered lily turned to me her expression abit serious as she from the pockets of her worn jeans took out 2 sets of latex gloves one of which was handed to me.

"Do not turn on any lights and do not touch him even if he offers you a hand"

Hearing the weird warning I wanted to ask questions but before I could I found myself cut off as she opened the door and entered me soon following with a single thought in mind.
