Chapter 77 - 77

The shrine had fallen silent again.

But the Naught did not move.

He stood at the edge of the gate—his hand gently raised, fingertips resting against the obsidian curve of the arch. Faint crimson rippled across the surface like breath under silk. From deep within, a pulse echoed, ancient and wrong, as though a forgotten heart still beat in that place.

Kiro stepped closer, cautious.

The stillness of the gate was deceptive. Every inch hummed with presence. He could feel the System inside him coiling tighter, less like a guide and more like an animal trapped in a cage.

Kiro frowned. "What is this place really? This… dream?"

The Naught lowered his hand.

And for the first time, Kiro saw weariness in those star-etched eyes.

"You ask the wrong question," the Naught murmured. "It is not the place you must fear. It is where it leads."

Kiro didn't respond.

The Naught stepped beside him, and his voice softened.

"You've heard the word Void. Spoken like a curse. A silence. An abyss."

Kiro nodded.

"But it is more than that," the Naught continued. "To my kind, it was once a place of worship. To others, damnation. Even now, the Kruger priests call it Heaven's Reversal."

He looked toward the swirling darkness in the gate.

"The Void is what is left when everything is told the truth at once."

Kiro blinked.

"What does that mean?"

The Naught's voice deepened.

"It is Heaven to those who lose the fear of self.It is Hell to those who cling to their shape. And it is Damnation to any who enter with doubt."

He placed a hand on Kiro's shoulder.

"And yet, to you… it might be a mirror."

Kiro felt the words root deep in his mind.

A part of him—some thread of instinct left behind by the Blood God—twitched with uneasy recognition.

He turned to the gate.

Its breath had changed. Faster now. As if sensing him. As if hungry.

"You were summoned here for a reason," the Naught said. "The Void does not want gods reborn. It remembers Kuni. It remembers what he tried to do."

Kiro's hand curled into a fist.

"I'm not him."

"Then step through and prove it."

Kiro stepped forward.

One breath. One heartbeat. His blood hissed. The gate opened.
