Chapter 95. Junko is dead? Wasn't she the final BOSS?

["Crack!"]

[Along with the sound of a phantom illusion heart being crushed by the Demon God arm, at the other end of the battlefield…]

[Cú Chulainn, who was preparing to unleash his Noble Phantasm, suddenly froze. Black blood spilled from the corner of his mouth. He still tried to do something, but was entangled by ribbon-like tentacles, gradually sinking into the black mud.]

[Cursed Arm Hassan coldly observed. Under the moonlight, the surface of the lake roared, then gradually grew still.]

[The Noble Phantasm called [Zabaniya: Delusional Heartbeat] is to reflect the target to be killed in a mirror, and then that reflection will inevitably cause real damage…]

[At the moment the black-red tentacle-like ribbons wrapped around Cú Chulainn's ankle, Hassan of the Cursed Arm had already touched the Demon God arm to Cú Chulainn's chest, creating a mirror that reflected his heart.]

[All damage would be reflected 100% through the mirror back onto his body.]

[This is a kind of absolute execution Noble Phantasm.]

[Cursed Arm Hassan gazed coldly at the vast, endless lake surface, let out a soft sound of praise, and prepared to retreat to report~]

["Not dead?"]

[Suddenly, his expression changed. He sensed a threat of annihilation, and his body immediately turned into countless clones—scattering.]

[At the bottom of the lake.]

[No one knew since when, but the great hero of Celtic myth was roaring, breaking through over a dozen layers of binding curses, crimson magical energy violently gathering into the cursed spear!]

["Heh… what I yearn for isn't this kind of disgraceful battle…"]

[Cú Chulainn grinned ferociously. The curse spear melted and transformed into a bloody lightning bolt, the overwhelming energy pouring down like a god purging the earth from above.]

["Boom boom boom…!!"]

[An immense destructive force—the vast lake turned red with blood!]

[In that moment of shattering the lake, it was like a furious dragon rampaging through this world. The surface of the lake, stretching for dozens of kilometers, instantly evaporated, accompanied by an earth-shattering explosion that struck even deeper into the lakebed.]

[Blood-red beams of light enveloped the heavens and earth, crushing every clone of Cursed Arm Hassan, overflowing with a wordless, overwhelming shock!]

[In the end, the lake vanished, leaving behind wounds several kilometers deep from the spear strike.]

[Cursed Arm Hassan struggled to drag his broken arm up to the shore, looking at Cú Chulainn who was fading away in the thunderstorm: "…As expected of a great hero with his own mythology."]

[To him, assassination was merely a duty and obligation, bringing no joy.]

[Though he was an Assassin, he still had respect for heroes.]

[But the command from his Master, who granted him wisdom, was absolute.]

[Gazing at the land devastated by death, the Assassin turned toward the dense western forest of Fuyuki City.]

[Then… the only one left standing in the way of Master's grand wish is that Greek great hero.]

[His expression hardened, his form grew faint, and Cursed Arm Hassan vanished like mist.]

...

Many were stunned, eyes dazed, still not recovered from Lancer's defeat.

"So he really died? Lancer actually died?"

"Clearly, he got ambushed and schemed to death."

"The hell, it doesn't feel real. The Child of Light went out like that..."

"Am I the only one curious what the hell those ribbon-like tentacles were?"

"I don't know, but they seemed extremely powerful. As soon as Lancer got entangled, he completely lost the ability to fight back."

"..."

Everyone was a bit stunned. A powerful and invincible Cú Chulainn died just like that—died in such a careless way.

That was one of the strongest in this Holy Grail War. A Lancer, one of the Three Knight Classes, the wielder of Gáe Bolg—the cursed spear that could reverse cause and effect, and he even had Battle Continuation Rank A, which allowed him to keep fighting for several more rounds even after losing his heart.

Yet, before he could even fully unleash his power, he was entangled by that evil force and pulled off the stage.

"I don't care! To me, in this Holy Grail War, Lancer bro is absolutely THE GOAT!!!"

"PRAISE THE GOAT \[-|-]/ !!!"

"THE GOAT \[-|-]/ !!!"

"THE GOAT \[-|-]/ !!!"

"THE GOAT \[-|-]/ !!!"

[In the scarred battlefield, a beautiful nightingale suddenly appeared.]

[It sang, releasing mournful and grieving melodies.]

[As if holding a ritual for the soul of the departed "Child of Light – Cú Chulainn" from Irish mythology.]

[Finally, it stayed there for a long while before flying away.]

[Transforming into a pure beam of light, vanishing into the depths of dawn, at the edge of the sky.]

...

"Was that… the witch Morrigan?"

"Can't believe even this scene was recreated after Cú Chulainn's death."

Tokyo, in the present-day residence of the Shinomiya family, Hayasaka Ai was momentarily stunned.

Since the Holy Grail War began broadcasting, she had researched all materials related to the heroes, and legend had it that Cú Chulainn—the one who fought to the very end with courage—died after being pierced through the heart by his own spear.

On the shoulder of that upright-standing corpse, a small bird perched.

It was said to be the embodiment of the witch Morrigan—who gave him an unrequited, hopeless love.

"Truly the irony of fate…"

The blonde maid sighed softly, a vague worry surfacing in her heart for the Kaguya-sama of the parallel world.

Now that Cú Chulainn had died, with no one left to protect her, Kaguya-sama would surely be in great danger.

[The old residence of the Shinomiya family, a cool breeze swept by, leaves swayed in the wind.]

[Inside the archive room, the mustached detective Mouri Kogoro furrowed his brow as he flipped through the documents. Suddenly, his pupils contracted sharply, and he drew a shocking conclusion, somewhat stunned: "There was a problem with the Third Holy Grail War held in Fuyuki City!"]

["So, the Holy Grail has been corrupted?"]

["Then, can the wish still be granted?"]

[Hold on!]

[If this variable is added…]

[In that moment, Kogoro sank into thought, rushing toward a library.]

[He found many photos and documents, and eventually opened a medical record.]

[Faintly, one could see the words "multiple personality" appear.]

["So… that's it?"]

[Kogoro muttered, as if confirming a suspicion within his heart.]

[The final missing piece had been found.]

[If that's the case…]

[Kogoro's expression suddenly changed, sensing something was wrong—he had to issue a warning quickly…]

["Kkh!"]

[He gritted his teeth and grabbed his wrist.]

[A sharp pain flared, and the Command Spell on his wrist began emitting green smoke, then slowly faded away.]

["Lancer?!"]

[Kogoro couldn't believe it— Is the mighty demigod Cú Chulainn dead??]

[Tap~]

[Tap tap tap~]

[The sound of light footsteps echoed.]

["So it was you after all?"]

[Kogoro's pupils shrank. He slowly turned his head toward the shadowy figure descending the staircase while softly humming.]

[Without waiting for an answer, the very moment he caught their attention, he immediately fired two shots in rapid succession—almost world-record speed—but…]

["Cough…" A choked groan, blood trickled from the corner of Kogoro's mouth. He looked down at his chest, now pierced through by a black-and-red ribbon.]

[Thud!]

[A chill swept across his neck, his vision soared, the world spun, and his head rolled to the ground. His final, faint consciousness came to a stop before a pair of feet.]

["You're quite a good marksman."]

[The mysterious figure wiped the blood off their cheek, as if offering praise—or perhaps mockery.]

[Ssshhh]

[Without bothering to erase any traces at the scene, the black-and-red ribbon tendrils wrapped around Kogoro's head, turned away, and vanished into the darkness.]

[Left behind was Kogoro's corpse lying in a pool of blood, his face still full of regret.]

[Lancer's team—completely annihilated.]

...

"Dad, your death was really tragic."

At Mouri Detective Agency, Ran was a bit shocked, but she didn't break down crying.

Mainly because, after witnessing the tragic deaths of Hideyoshi, Matou Makoto, Shouko, and Aki Tomoya one after another, Ran had already mentally prepared herself for the death of Mouri Kogoro in the parallel world.

Seeing that father death was at least somewhat "peaceful," Ran even felt a little relieved—at least he didn't die in agonizing torment.

"Oi oi, Ran, can't you at least cry a little for your dad?!"

Mouri Kogoro shouted in frustration, his face twisted with annoyance.

Hmph, raised a daughter this big and she doesn't even care for her father.

Even so…

He turned his head to look up at the sky, eyes sharp as blades.

There were too few clues. He couldn't deduce who had killed him in the parallel world.

But Mouri Kogoro already had a suspect in mind—though there was no information, no one knew himself better than he did. When all those without a motive were ruled out, only the one who shouldn't possibly be the culprit remained…

If it really was you…

Then that's one hell of a twist.

...

Scene shift—the atmosphere turns gloomy and eerie.

[A few minutes earlier, at the Holy Church.]

[Gilgamesh cast a cold glance, lifting a wine glass: "Mongrel, I gave you a chance. You wasted the precious treasures of this king—dying is already a mercy."]

[Beside him, a lively figure danced through the shadows, holding… a severed arm.]

...

[Not long after, the Raku Sou group returned to the front gate of the Shinomiya residence.]

["Young master, is something wrong?" The old butler was happily watering flowers. Seeing Raku Sou, he smiled and greeted him.]

["Fubo, I heard from Kaguya that uncle Mouri came by?"]

[Raku Sou asked in a low voice.]

["Ah, that famous detective? He said he wanted to investigate something. He went up to the archive room on the second floor..."]

[Raku Sou nodded. Upon hearing that, he led Medusa and Yukino upstairs.]

[Suddenly, Medusa stopped in her tracks, her expression slightly changed.]

[Yukino noticed something was off and asked with concern: "What is it?"]

["There's the scent… of someone recently dead." – Medusa answered in a low voice.]

["...?!"]

[Raku Sou's expression suddenly turned cold. He immediately dashed toward the archive room.]

[But… it was already too late. Mouri Kogoro had gone cold, his blood-soaked head placed right at the entrance.]

[His eyes shut tight, and a heart along with a smile had been drawn on his face — chilling.]

["Did Enoshima Junko attack this place?"]

[Yukino bit her lip. She didn't know how to properly comfort Raku Sou.]

[But if it was Enoshima Junko leading a Servant from the previous Holy Grail War to attack the Shinomiya estate, there should have been signs of a battle. Once Lancer engaged the enemy, the loud noise would surely have been detected.]

[They could've swiftly sent reinforcements by having Medusa ride Pegasus and rush to assist.]

["I see, so the real battlefield wasn't here."]

[Raku Sou clenched his fists tightly.]

[Faced with a surprise attack that was clearly premeditated, uncle Mouri and the others were most likely done for.]

["This is bad..."]

[He seemed to have realized something. His expression turned grave, "The enemy is collecting Servants. Right now we only have Medusa left, and…"]

["Let's go find Berserker. If their final target isn't us, then it's the head of the Einzbern family!"]

["What?!" Yukino gasped, immediately reacting.]

[The enemy lurking in the shadows…]

[Could they really be this terrifying?]

[Raku Sou turned to Medusa beside him and said solemnly: "Rider!"]

["Understood."]

[Medusa lightly nodded. Her snow-white right hand raised up and slashed a sharp chain across her own neck.]

[Ancient aura spread out, pure white holy light gushed from her blood, eventually condensing into a divine cluster of light. Accompanied by a pleasant neigh, a Pegasus—Phantasmal Species with white wings—stepped out from the radiant glow.]

[At that moment, a figure, covered in blood, suddenly came running.]

[Raku Sou and Yukino stared at her in shock.]

[That was… Enoshima Junko?!]

...

Looking up at the Celestial Curtain, that frail woman, her clothes soaked in blood, the exposed flesh and bone from her severed arm gruesomely visible—it left the global audience completely speechless.

What the hell? Wasn't she always freakishly confident and desperately obsessed?

Overflowing with final boss vibes.

And now she's about to die already?

Suddenly someone spoke up, panicked:

"Wait a sec, then that means the 'Master' Cursed Arm Hassan mentioned wasn't her?"

"So Medea, Kojirou, Lancer weren't killed by her?"

"Holy shit, then who did it?!"

"Is there some kind of hidden boss showing up?!"

...

While everyone was still confused and unsure of what was happening, on the Celestial Curtain—

[That frail woman—Enoshima Junko—seemed mentally unstable. Her hands clutched her face as she mumbled, like her faith had crumbled, "The one being toyed with from beginning to end was me… it's me again… hahaha."]

["Ah~."]

["What a delicious kind of despair this is!"]

[Yukinoshita Yukino frowned and stepped forward, about to ask something.]

[But Enoshima Junko was completely absorbed in her own despair, paying no attention to Yukino at all.]

[After a while, she finally revealed a twisted smile and looked toward Raku Sou.]

["I'm not giving you any clues, just wait and see."]

["But I've hidden the three Command Seals with one of your friends. Go get them."]

[In the end, she gazed into the distance, laughing with glee, "Ah, so when you're just about to achieve that stupid, arrogant, insane wish of yours, only to have your illusion shattered—wonder if that'll offer up an even sweeter despair…"]

[The sound abruptly stopped.]

[Enoshima Junko, her pupils dissolving, stared blankly into the distance—then collapsed to the ground.]

["What the hell was she even saying?" Yukino asked in confusion, looking at Raku Sou beside her.]

[Raku Sou lifted Enoshima Junko's corpse, turned toward the house, and calmly said, "Her wrist had been severed. As the overseer of the Holy Grail War, once each War ends, any leftover Command Spells are to be reclaimed."]

["They are kept in the overseer's custody."]

["Looks like senpai had figured something out, so she hid the Command Spells with an acquaintance."]

["As for who the final enemy is—I have a theory, but I need to confirm it."]

...

"Damn, he figured it out that quick already?"

"Who is it? Stop playing this suspense game."

The entire world was left dumbfounded.

...

Time passed slowly, and the viewpoint continued shifting.

[According to Enoshima Junko's final words, Raku Sou went to Ryuudou Temple and retrieved the three Command Spells.]

[Under his command, the three of them rode Pegasus together, heading for Einzbern Castle along the shortest route. The roaring wind tore through the cloud layers, like a white comet streaking across the sky.]

[Before long, a vast green forest appeared before them, surrounding the cliffs stood a magnificent, ancient castle.]

[Raku Sou looked down at the castle, a glint of contemplation in his eyes.]

[Suddenly—]

["GRAAAH!"]

[Before they even arrived, a roar sent ripples through the air.]

[A figure, savage like a marble statue, tore through the sound barrier, shooting straight into the sky like a deep black beam, instantly soaring into the clouds and transforming into a massive giant with a lion's mane of hair—raising an axe to strike them down.]

[In front of the castle gates, escorted by two maids, one blue and one pink, the Purge King snorted coldly and stepped out.]

["Hmph, I hadn't even come looking for you, and yet you've shown up here to die?"]

[He coldly looked to the sky, Heracles' axe about to strike the white comet.]

[It looked as if they would be completely obliterated.]

[However…]

[As a Servant of the Rider Class, Medusa possessed the greatest mobility of the seven Servants.]

[Even though Heracles had virtually no weaknesses and even his Agility was ranked A—]

[They were still in the sky—Divine Pegasus turned into a streak of white light, easily dodging and leaving the charging Berserker far behind, neighing in exhilaration.]

[The axe swept through—under the force of sheer brute strength, the air itself was crushed into shockwaves that spread outward, eventually forming an invisible wave spanning thousands of meters that crashed down to the ground—silent, yet the entire forest across several kilometers was completely annihilated.]

["BOOM BOOM BOOM…!!"]

[What followed were thunderous explosions, and a pillar of smoke pierced straight into the clouds!]

...

"The sheer brute strength of Heracles… no matter how many times I see it, it's always overwhelming."

Amid the sea of clouds, Shuten Douji—Lord of Ooeyama—couldn't help but exclaim, growing curious about wrestling with this god of strength.

...

[Then, the muscular giant landed back on the ground and let out another furious roar, once again launching into the sky with even greater force and fury, his body piercing through the clouds, entering the stratosphere, and in an instant, slashing down nine radiant axe arcs.]

[Nine invisible shockwaves spread out, sealing off all possible escape paths—forming the Celestial Net of Destruction!]

["He can't control his reason?"]

[Raku Sou's eyes turned cold. He spread out his hand, magical energy surging forth, condensing into a razor-sharp sword.]

[Swoosh!]

[With a single slash, the thick cloud layer stretching thousands of meters was torn apart like silk, and the nine shockwaves—defying all laws of physics—were obliterated in midair.]

[They had been killed… on the level of "concept."]

[They no longer existed!]

Note:

Yo guys, I'll be halting this fanfic this week.

Before translating this fanfic, I had only read up to Chapter 70. At that point, the story was still very good and full of potential. But starting from Chapter 100 with the "Destroy Japan" little Arc, the story has seriously declined, the quality keeps getting worse, so I'm planning to take time to read the later chapters to see whether it improves or continues spiraling downward.

If it continues to be this bad, then I'll drop it.
