Two armoured vehicles powered by dozens of monster cores drove noisily through the wilderness, raising a cloud of dust in their wake.
Gabriel sat silently, cleaning the hilt of his greatsword while Alice stared at him as if he was rare candy or something.
He had long noticed her gaze but ignored it. They were currently heading toward the ruin site, which was roughly a thousand meters away.
"It'll most likely take a day and a half if the bus keeps running at 100 km per hour," Gabriel noted.
Of course, he also knew the time could be longer since they needed to rest.
Apart from Alice, he could feel the eyes of others scrutinizing him. Gabriel could tell they all wanted to converse with him but seemed to be holding back because of his emotionless face.
"So, tell me more about yourself," Alice struck up a conversation, sensing the awkwardness.
