Awakening in a New World
"HONK! HONK!"Screech—CRASH!
The brakes squealed, but it was pointless. The truck plowed forward, too fast, too late. The driver never stood a chance at avoiding him. Who the hell steps out in the middle of a deserted road like that?
"Ughh…"Leon, twenty years old and now very, very broken, lay twisted on the pavement. Cold, hard, unforgiving. Every breath hurt. Every nerve screamed. His vision was a swirl of red and white. And those headlights—bright as hell—burned into his skull.
"Truck-kun... I was joking, man. It was a meme. A joke. You didn't have to take it literally…"A breathless laugh left his lips, dry and cracked. Pain tore it away mid-chuckle. He tried to lift a hand—nope. Didn't move. His body was going numb, like someone was flipping all the switches off, one by one.
Then—nothing.
He jolted up with a gasp. Chest heaving.
"W-What the—?"His forehead was drenched in sweat, his heartbeat thudding in his ears. Panic gripped him, primal and sharp. But as his eyes adjusted, confusion took the wheel.
This… wasn't home.
Not by a long shot.
"Where the hell am I?"The room was massive, and borderline surreal. Tall black columns, etched with glowing red symbols, stood like ancient guardians. Velvet-draped furniture. A library straight out of a fantasy RPG. The bed he'd been lying on looked like it belonged to a vampire king.
He scanned the space, eyes narrowing. Was this a dream? A prank?
He stumbled to his feet, unsteady. Everything felt off. His hands, for starters—pale, strong, too perfect. Not his. And his clothes? Rich black fabric, embroidered with silver. Tailored. Expensive. Not his thrift-store hoodie, that's for sure.
His mind raced."I didn't imagine it. The truck hit me. That happened. So then—what is this?"
He staggered toward the huge window and flung it open. The air that hit him was crisp and alien. And the view? Unreal.
A city sprawled beneath him—cobblestone streets, towering spires, torches burning along the walls. Lanterns floated in mid-air. And above all of it, two moons glowed in the twilight sky.
His jaw dropped."No way… this is real?"A grin crept onto his face. His heart raced—but this time with something else.
Wonder.Awe.Hype.
"Holy crap… I got isekai'd!"He actually laughed, loud and half-unbelieving."Truck-kun, you legend! You really did it!"
He turned, arms raised like he was waiting for a spotlight."Alright, bring on the cheat system! C'mon, don't leave me hanging now—"
...Silence.Still silence.
His grin twitched."Wait. Wait wait wait—where's my system? My overpowered abilities? This isn't funny."
A beat. Another. Still nothing.
"Oh god. Don't tell me I'm stuck here as some random NPC."He groaned and slumped to the floor."Of course this would happen to me. Typical."
But then—
WHAM.
Agony punched through his skull like a freight train. He screamed, clutching his head as memories that didn't belong to him flooded in, fast and furious. Images, voices, names, battles, secrets—none of it his, and yet... all of it felt right.
Then—clear as day, a name.
Leon Moonwalker. Duke. Moonstone Kingdom.
