Chapter 115: What to Do When a Teammate Goes Astray? Just Give Them a Beating
The more he understood humans, the more he realized their strength. To wage war against humanity, relying solely on the Pokémon they had "tamed" wasn't enough—they weren't obedient enough. He needed more forces he could command.
As long as he achieved ultimate victory, the Pokémon would thank him for what he had done.
History is written by the victors.
"Give me back my Pikachu!"
Ash shouted loudly—his Pokémon had been "taken" as well.
Mewtwo didn't even look at him.
In his eyes, Ash was nothing more than a helpless, angry child.
Even as the protagonist of the original Pokémon TV series, Ash was still far too immature. He had a long way to go before defeating Leon and becoming the champion of the Masters Eight. At this point, neither he nor Pikachu had the power to resist Mewtwo.
But this boy wasn't the type to be intimidated just because someone was stronger than him.
Ignoring the protests of his companions, Ash recklessly charged at Mewtwo, swinging his fist.
Trying to punch Mewtwo?
Against another opponent, maybe even a Machamp might stand a chance—but against Mewtwo?
Not even a protagonist-level rookie would stand a chance.
And yet, only Ash would attempt such a thing.
This seemingly brainless action actually required immense courage.
Mewtwo's strength was obvious to all. Even the strongest Pokémon crumbled before him.
But the brave are fearless. Ash was determined to get his friend back, even if his own power meant nothing to Mewtwo.
Unsurprisingly, he was sent flying.
His whole body soared through the air.
But the expected scene of him crashing and being badly injured didn't happen. A faint purple glow enveloped Ash, and he gently landed on the ground.
"Psychic?"
Mewtwo immediately recognized the move.
A blue Pokémon he had never seen before appeared before him.
With just a glance, Mewtwo sent a barrage of Master Balls flying toward it.
"Metagross, Bullet Punch!"
A flurry of iron fists swiftly knocked away the specialized balls.
Even Mewtwo momentarily forgot that one of the mysterious trainers who had arrived earlier had finally made a move.
"So, finally someone with some real skill."
Mewtwo showed a hint of interest. Blue light flared from his eyes, and he raised his three-fingered hand, clenching it in Metagross's direction.
"Psychic!"
A faint purple glow enveloped Metagross.
But almost instantly, it was overwhelmed by the blue light that wrapped around it.
Metagross, a powerful Psychic-type, was completely overpowered by Mewtwo's psychic force.
With a casual flick of Mewtwo's hand, Metagross floated through the air like a puppet on strings.
"Is that all you've got?"
Mewtwo's tone held a trace of disappointment.
Metagross's strength had only slightly piqued his interest.
In this era, he was the embodiment of power.
Invincibility can be lonely.
As Mewtwo commanded the Master Balls to absorb Metagross, a lightning-fast figure shot forward, blocking the attack.
With rapid hand movements, the Master Balls—unscathed even by countless Pokémon attacks—shattered into fragments.
"!!!"
Mewtwo's pupils shrank slightly, clearly shocked that his proud creations had been destroyed.
For a moment, a sense of familiarity surged in his chest, and his heartbeat quickened.
Is it... you?
"Let me see your face."
Blue light gathered in his hand.
Rip!
The cloak tore apart, revealing the figure underneath.
A being clad in pitch-black armor, dragon-like in form, stood before him.
"Another Pokémon I've never seen before,"
Mewtwo murmured, still assuming DarkWarGreymon was a Pokémon.
But his tone betrayed slight disappointment.
"It's not you."
"Join my army."
Mewtwo spoke earnestly, recognizing the strength of someone who could so easily destroy his Master Balls.
The reply came in the form of a black energy orb.
Dark Gaia Force? No—just a bit of negative energy.
Mewtwo casually dodged with a slight movement, then confidently replied:
"Looks like I'll have to defeat you first!"
DarkWarGreymon didn't speak, but his eager stance showed his excitement.
Blue energy gathered in Mewtwo's palm—an immediate counterattack to the earlier assault.
But DarkWarGreymon didn't dodge. He simply swatted the energy ball away and looked at Mewtwo in the sky.
For the first time, he spoke:
"Show me your true power."
"A worthy opponent."
As if influenced by DarkWarGreymon's fighting spirit, a surge of blue light burst from Mewtwo's body.
At the same time, darkness cloaked DarkWarGreymon.
A blue sphere and a black sphere began colliding at incredible speed in the air.
The world trembled.
The trainers stared dumbfounded at the sky. The battle unfolding exceeded anything they could comprehend.
"Aren't you going to find your partner?"
Yamcha, unable to bear it any longer, reminded them.
"Right, my Pikachu!"
Ash immediately snapped out of it and ran toward the path where the other Pokémon had been taken. The other trainers followed as if awakening from a dream.
Only Yamcha stayed behind.
Well—not quite alone.
"Mew!"
A pink, cat-like creature with a long tail floated beside him.
Mew.
Said to be the ancestor of all Pokémon.
She watched the battle in the sky with wide, curious eyes.
Yamcha ignored her and let her float nearby.
Boom!
The two powers in the sky clashed again—but this time, the blue orb lost, slammed to the ground, and left a humanoid crater.
Clearly, in the direct clash just now, DarkWarGreymon had the upper hand.
The strength of Digimon was undeniable. Unless one had system-level privileges like Porygon, even someone like Yamcha couldn't gain an edge over DarkWarGreymon.
"A truly powerful opponent."
That was Mewtwo's assessment of DarkWarGreymon.
He stood up from the crater as if nothing had happened. With a wave of his glowing blue left hand, all his injuries vanished.
Recover, a move that restores half HP in the games, was an extremely effective healing technique in reality.
Watching the escalating battle between Mewtwo and DarkWarGreymon, Yamcha finally felt a rare headache.
What do you do when a potential teammate goes astray?
Waiting might not cut it now.
If worse comes to worst…
Time to use Plan B.
