Chapter 270: Eating a Full Meal is No Longer a Luxury
The three of them quickly arrived at a place by the sea. Raising their eyes, they could see the Sky Island floating in the Air not far away. Once they arrived, Scott took out a Device that looked like a Walkie-talkie.
"This is Scott," Scott said, turning on the Walkie-talkie. "Come pick us up, Kurt."
After a few seconds, a childish voice came from the Walkie-talkie, accompanied by a faint Electric Current Sound.
"This is Kurt, I'll be right there."
As soon as he finished speaking, a cloud of blue smoke suddenly appeared in front of the three of them, followed by a young man with blue skin and fur landing on the Ground.
"I told you, I'd be right there. Isn't that a lot faster than before?" Kurt said with a smile. Then, he noticed Yang Le standing beside him. "And who is this?"
"Our new Colleague," Gambit said, putting his Shoulder around Yang Le. "And also, the Jesus who will let us have a Full Meal."
"So, he's the new Gardener!" Kurt exclaimed in surprise, his Eyes widening. "Great! The feeling of being hungry is really awful."
"Are you really short on Grain here?" Yang Le frowned. Not only Kurt, but Gambit had mentioned not having enough Food more than once just now. Yang Le had also noticed that although Kurt's blue skin made it difficult to observe, Yang Le could still tell that Kurt was somewhat malnourished.
"Yes," Scott said with a wry smile. "I'm sorry to disappoint you, but we are indeed living a life of hunger and starvation."
"No choice, who told us to be Mutants?" Gambit said self-deprecatingly. "Those Ordinary Person basically don't want to interact with Mutants. Even if someone is willing to sell us things, they will inflate prices. It's common for Mutants to buy things two to three times more expensive than Ordinary Person, and even ten times more expensive exists."
Speaking of this, Gambit clenched his Fist and continued, "Can you imagine? A Lollipop actually costs 10 Dollar! If I didn't know better, I'd think I was buying Drugs!"
Gambit's words made everyone fall into Silence. This kind of discrimination is unacceptable to any modern Human. However, Mutants are subjected to this treatment every moment.
In the end, Yang Le stepped forward to Comfort the others.
"It's okay, now that I'm here, at least you don't have to worry about Vegetables anymore."
"That's right, brother!" Gambit grinned again. "Now that you're here, I can finally kick that Vegetable supplier's Butt hard. I've been annoyed with him for a long time."
"Me too!" Kurt waved his Right Hand angrily, his Tail swaying back and forth behind him. "Last time, he actually called me a Smurf! If it weren't for being able to let everyone have a Full Meal, I would have punched him already."
"Let's not talk about this anymore," Scott quickly changed the Topic. He was afraid that if this continued, everyone, especially Kurt, this Child, would develop a deeper and deeper Hatred for Human. If this continued, maybe the next Magneto would appear, and Professor Xavier's efforts would be in vain.
"Let's hurry back to the Academy. Kurt has Courses to attend in the afternoon, and Yang Le also needs to familiarize himself with his future Work Environment. We still have a lot of Business to do."
The Topic was interrupted, and no one wanted to mention those disgusting things anymore. Kurt grabbed Scott's Hand and said.
"Hold on to each other tightly, I'll Teleport you all back at once."
Before Kurt finished speaking, Gambit grabbed Yang Le's Hand and then grabbed Scott with his other Hand, saying, "We're ready."
With a 'pop' sound, everyone disappeared from the Original Place. In almost the blink of an Eye, Yang Le found himself standing on a Cliff overgrown with weeds. Looking into the distance, he could even see New York Harbor where they had just been.
"Huff... huff..." Kurt panted, leaning on his Knee. This Teleport, including himself, teleported four people in total, which consumed a large part of his Stamina, feeling like an Ordinary Person running several kilometers.
"Thank you for your hard work, Kurt," Scott patted Kurt's Shoulder. "Go back and rest quickly. If you're too tired, I can ask for leave for you this afternoon."
Kurt waved his Hand, panting and saying, "No, no need. Courses, if, if I fall behind, it won't be good. I'll go back and rest first."
Gambit supported Kurt and said, "I'll take this tough guy back to the Dormitory first. You take Yang Le to familiarize himself with the Environment first."
Scott nodded, agreeing with Gambit's Suggestion. Then, he took Yang Le and walked in another Direction. They were going to the Farmland reclaimed by the Academy, which was Yang Le's future Work Place.
Along the way, they stopped and started because they encountered many other Mutants. Among them, some Yang Le recognized as members of the X-Men, while others he had never even heard of, probably just Passerby.
But these people all looked a bit disheveled, their Clothes were old and worn, their faces were thin, and it was obvious at a glance that they were living very poorly. But without exception, their faces all wore genuine smiles.
It seemed that compared to material things, living in an Environment where they were not respected and discriminated against by others was all these Mutants needed. At least here, they could be treated as Human.
After about twenty minutes, the two finally arrived at a piece of Land surrounded by a Fence. This was clearly Yang Le's future Work post.
Without Scott's introduction, Yang Le consciously stepped over the Fence and stood on the tilled Soil. Judging by the looseness and moisture of the Soil, Swampfire's intuition told him that this Soil had been tilled not long ago.
"This is the Farmland we built ourselves not long ago," Scott introduced. "But we are just a bunch of amateurs and don't know if we're doing it right at all. We can only follow the steps taught online step by step. The Seed have already been sown in the Soil, but we don't know if they will grow."
"Normally, it's impossible," Yang Le squatted down and pinched a handful of Mud. It's autumn now, and this isn't a Game. It's impossible to grow Crops outdoors.
"But it's different now that I'm here." After saying that, Yang Le stood up. Originally, Yang Le seemed to want to hide his Ability and just cultivate some Crops, but what he had seen and heard along the way changed his Idea.
The sallow and emaciated Children, under Scott's introduction, looked at Yang Le with hopeful Eyes. They were looking forward to a long-awaited Full Meal. Originally, these Child should be nestled in their Parents' arms, enjoying delicious Food, but now even eating a Full Meal has become a luxury.
No Ordinary person could stand idly by, let alone this was easy for Yang Le. Now there was no Reason to hide anymore.
Removing his Gloves, revealing his yellow Hands, as Yang Le raised his Hands high, the few acres of Farmland opened up by Scott and the others began to tremble. Green Plant broke out of the Soil and matured at a speed visible to the naked Eye.
"So it's Corn," Yang Le said with a smile, breaking off an ear of Corn and throwing it to the dumbfounded Scott.
"Go tell the Children, they can eat their fill today."
