Chapter 4 - Getting Used to (1)

I wiped the sweat off my brow. My chest rose and fell.

"Finally! I'm done," I panted between breaths, looking at everything I had finished cleaning—even the corners of the ceiling and everywhere in the house.

My attention shifted to the library inside the house. That bookshelf looked awkward...

"This bookshelf looks awkward," I muttered, pushing it aside as dust scattered.

Boom! A trapdoor.

"A trapdoor..? What's that for?" I swallowed my saliva, sweat dripping down my face.

"I wonder what's in there..." I slowly opened the trapdoor, revealing a large room with brick walls and a stone floor.

And a ladder going down.

"Huh... I wonder what Cassian used this room for..." I paused before continuing, "But... this room is perfect for training! Thanks, Cassian."

Closing the trapdoor, I moved the bookshelf to another place to make room for it.

I looked around the library—a small but cozy space to read.

"But damn, books are all over the place... I'll clean it up after I buy some stuff later," I sighed before walking out of the room.

"Thankfully, I already finished putting my stuff where they're supposed to be..."

Now... all the other stuff I cleaned up, including the dust outside in the alleyways of the city—before I walked back inside the house.

"Hopefully no one saw that... I have nowhere else to put them," I whispered, chuckling.

"Now... my damn shirt, it reeks!" I said, taking it off.

My attention then turned toward the bathroom. I slung the shirt over my shoulder and walked in.

'Now... I wonder, how did Cassian even afford all of this despite being the child of a fallen Marquis house? Did his father give him a secret stash or what?'

I tossed the shirt into a container of water before I started filling up the tub I was going to wash in...

'Still, this place is pretty good compared to other houses...'

-After Bathing-

"Now that was refreshing!" I walked out of the bathroom right after drying myself with a towel. I also hung my clothes after washing them.

The floor creaked beneath me as I walked toward the stairs. The floorboards creaked louder when I stepped on them.

"Damn floorboards... creaking all the time..." I cursed under my breath, reaching the room I had picked.

I walked inside, opening the closet and picking out a new set of clothes to put on.

---

I walked outside the house.

"Crowded as usual, huh?.. First... I need to find a blacksmith," I muttered, walking down the steps.

I turned my head in every direction, trying to spot one.

'This is gonna take a while...'

I sighed, walking to my left. I looked back toward the market.

"I'm gonna need to buy some food later on... I'm pretty hungry..." my stomach growled.

Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a blacksmith.

"Oh? A blacksmith this fast?" I walked toward it, looking at the sign.

"Hawkins Blacksmith? What a weird name," I muttered.

I walked inside.

"Welcome. I hope you find whatever you're looking for," the blacksmith said.

'A dwarf, huh?' I stared at the blacksmith before shifting my focus to the weapons.

I browsed through each weapon. 'Whoa, weapons of this quality are usually hard to find...'

I grabbed the most durable and sharp-looking one, then walked to the counter, placing the sword down along with a wooden one that fit my size.

"Hey, old man, how much is this?"

The blacksmith glanced at me before replying, "For the two of them, it's about 1 gold and 50 silver."

I dug through my pockets, found the amount, and placed it down. "Here."

I grabbed the weapons and walked out. 'It's such a steal! Usually, at other blacksmiths, this would've cost me about 4 gold and above!' I smiled.

Then I bought everything else I needed before returning to the house.

---

I walked inside and closed the doors behind me. "Fuck... this is heavy..." I groaned in pain, dropping everything I was carrying.

Chest rose slow, then fell fast. My breathing was heavy.

'Why did I decide to buy so goddamn much?..' I cursed myself before grabbing the food I bought and putting it in the cabinets.

I dragged the stuff meant for the training room/basement toward it.

"Why is this so fucking heavy?.."

Then I arranged everything I bought where I had planned to place them.

"Finally!" I wiped the sweat off my face before looking at the mess in the library.

"What did Cassian even do to this? Was he in a hurry to leave or what?!" I murmured, walking toward it.

I grabbed books and started organizing them. "Hold on, didn't the Emperor's informant tell me that Cassian had a sister?.."

"So where the hell is she?.."

"I'll look into that later when I have time, I guess..."
