Chapter 66 - CHAPTER 66

c66: Teaching Caulifla to Train

"Sis!" Kale rushed over as soon as Caulifla hit the ground.

"I'm fine. When we get back, I'm going to train even harder," Caulifla said, not the least bit discouraged by her loss.

"She's got a real Goku-like spirit," Li Xu nodded to himself, genuinely impressed. Just like Son Goku, she took defeat as motivation, not shame.

"What was that move you just used?" Caulifla asked, brushing herself off.

"That was the Afterimage Technique," Li Yi said proudly. "My dad taught it to me. You weren't able to sense my real energy signature, so you went for the fake. Your ki control and perception still need work."

"Uncle, can you teach me too?" Caulifla asked. Though she wouldn't admit that Li Yi was stronger, she couldn't deny Li Xu's skills and the strange, powerful techniques he clearly knew.

"From 'big brother' to 'uncle' in one breath… how did that happen?" Li Xu grumbled internally but let it slide.

"You can come train with Li Yi every day if you want. But be warned, my training isn't easy. If you don't think you can handle it, better quit early," Li Xu said sternly.

"If Li Yi can handle it, so can I!" Caulifla huffed. Li Yi had become her main rival now—she couldn't fall behind.

"Then show up tomorrow and train with him." Li Xu agreed. Whether one student or two, he was still the teacher. Besides, having a rival would help push Li Yi further.

"Kale, let's go," Caulifla said, grabbing her sister's hand and walking off.

"Li Yi, that's enough training for today," Li Xu said. After a long session, even he needed a break.

"Dad, I still want to keep going," Li Yi replied, eyes burning with motivation. Caulifla's pressure on him was growing by the day.

"…Fine. Bra, you train with Li Yi for a bit," Li Xu nodded.

"Eh? Why me?" Bra complained, frowning. Though she didn't hate training, she wasn't as driven as her brother.

"Because I said so. I'm your father that's final," Li Xu said firmly.

"Ugh, fine…" Bra pouted. In other things, she could wheedle her way out, but when it came to training, Li Xu never backed down.

Leaving the training room, Li Xu found Bulma in the living room watching TV.

"Where are Li Yi and Bra?" Bulma asked as he sat beside her.

"Still training. I told them to push a bit more today," Li Xu replied, pulling Bulma into a light hug.

"Honey, not today. I'm still sore from yesterday," Bulma said with a tired but amused smile, knowing exactly what he was hoping for.

"…Alright." Li Xu sighed, releasing her gently.

"Bulma, it's been over four years since we left Earth," he said thoughtfully.

By Earth's timeline, Raditz should have arrived by now. But thanks to his presence, the butterfly effect had shifted many things. Whether Raditz still came or not was uncertain.

"Yeah. Are you thinking about going back?" Bulma asked curiously.

"Earth would be a good change of pace, but Li Yi and Bra just made new friends. Taking them away now wouldn't be fair to their growth," Li Xu said, shaking his head.

Besides, with Goku on Earth, things were in good hands. Goku's power was far above where it had been at this point in the original timeline. Even if Vegeta came early, Goku wouldn't lose.

Goku had that main-character energy protagonist aura, as Li Xu liked to call it. Even if things went wrong, Goku would figure it out. Li Xu wasn't Earth's babysitter. He had his own family now.

"That little girl Caulifla's not bad at all. She's almost as strong as Li Yi," Bulma said. And considering Li Yi was born with a power level of 100,000—stronger than even the elite Saiyans of Planet Vegeta Caulifla's natural talent was remarkable.

"You've got real talent in combat. With proper training, your potential will be immense," Li Yi said with a bright smile, having seen Caulifla's raw strength firsthand.

"You Saiyans really are a battle-obsessed race," Bulma muttered, rolling her eyes. It reminded her of how Vegeta and Goku always prioritized training above everything else.

The next morning, as always, Li Xu arrived at the gravity training room before sunrise.

Li Yi and Bra had also gotten up though Li Yi trained diligently with strict self-discipline, Bra was far more reluctant, grumbling throughout the morning stretches.

"Uncle, I'm here! You better teach me all your awesome techniques today," Caulifla said boldly as she entered, dragging a sleepy Kale along.

"Techniques are secondary," Li Xu replied calmly. "True strength lies in raw power and precise control. When you've mastered that, even the simplest move can overwhelm flashy techniques."

"Yeah, but I don't have that kind of power yet," Caulifla pouted. Li Xu was at a loss for words her honesty was refreshingly blunt.

"Ahem… We'll start with ki control today. If you want to learn serious techniques, you need a rock-solid foundation," he said, clearing his throat.

He then walked to the center of the room and set up a narrow pillar, placing two lightweight training spheres on top—standard equipment designed to help warriors develop control, not brute force.

"Here's your task: Use an energy shot to knock down the back ball, but the front ball can't move and the pillar must stay standing. Otherwise, start over," Li Xu instructed seriously.

"Also, don't break the balls," he added. These were low-durability spheres any burst of excessive energy would destroy them instantly. This was a classic precision test, similar to Goku's and Gohan's early training with Piccolo and Mr. Popo, emphasizing control over power.

"That's all? Easy!" Caulifla grinned confidently, stepping up.

Seeing her cocky expression, Li Xu couldn't help but twitch his mouth slightly. This kind of task looked simple, but for someone as hot-headed and impatient as Caulifla, it was the perfect exercise to temper her nature.

"Watch this!"

Whoosh!

Caulifla focused and launched a quick ki blast from her fingertip, aiming in an arc to strike only the rear sphere.

Bang!

Both spheres shattered on contact, and the pillar clattered to the ground.

"Tch just bad luck! I'll get it this time," she said with an awkward chuckle, quickly resetting the setup using spares from the shelf.

"This time I'll nail it for sure!" she said, brimming with confidence again.

But the result didn't change. Her blasts were consistently too powerful, disrupting all three targets each time.

"Uncle, this is way too hard! Can you even do it yourself?" she asked, puffing her cheeks in frustration.

Li Xu chuckled quietly. Without a word, he placed the balls again, stood where Caulifla had been, and raised his finger.

An elegant arc of ki spiraled from his fingertip, moving fluidly like a whip. The ki ball struck only the rear sphere, knocking it off gently. The energy shot continued its trajectory, flew half a circle around the room, then returned to Li Xu's hand without disturbing the front ball or the pillar.

"Whoa! You're awesome!" Caulifla gasped, her eyes sparkling with awe.

"This is what it means to precisely control force and flow," Li Xu said. "When you can do this, you'll be ready for serious combat techniques."

"Kale, help me set it up! If Uncle can do it, I definitely can!" Caulifla declared with renewed determination.

"Okay, sis!" Kale giggled, running over to help reset the equipment.

Together, the two girls returned to training, their teamwork and enthusiasm filling the gravity room with energy.
