Pain rippled through my gut as I curled on the floor. My arms still clutched to my stomach. My legs slightly moving.
A jolt ran through me as the sight unfolded.
The world around me shifted, leaves rustled without wind, shadows twisted without form. Towering trees still stood all around. No sight of life, no roads, just trees.
Where is this place? Didn't I just run out of the forest?
Then I saw it: an ancient house standing alone, silent and watching.
Gosh, wrinkles settled on my skin as that woman appeared before me, almost snapping the life out of me.
"You," I gasped.
This is strange. How come I ran out of the forest and still returned to the same spot?
"Come inside," she said, moving into the small house.
No… something isn't right. The earlier I asked this woman what's happening, the better for all… or so I thought.
