Chapter 12 - Furnace[5]

And as soon as he touched the badge on the lock, it clicked and opened. And Kael entered his room.

Yesterday, Kael was very tired, so he didn't even properly check the room, but now he is looking properly.

The room was a simple small room, with a bed along the wall, a study table, a small almira beside it, and lastly, another gate that must be the washroom.

Kael opened the almira, and inside it were two sets of the compulsory uniform of the organisation.

Putting the uniform back, Kael decided to take a bath and clean himself for the first time since waking up.

He opened the washroom door and entered the attached bathroom; it had a small mirror, a commode, and a single tap.

Kael looked at the reflection, and for the first time, he looked at his reflection.

The reflection was a young man. His face held the softness of youth, but his eyes burned with questions the world hadn't answered yet, and he had a lean physique. Hair's a mixture of black and brown, wild, long, and uncombed. Not the most handsome boy, but he had the potential to be quite a looker.

"Heh! Not bad." Kael chuckled to himself, as he was happy that he was not ugly.

Then Kael took a bath, cleaned himself of all the sweat, dirt and blood he was covered in, and left the bathroom.

He then wore the uniform provided, though he had seen it many times by now. Since it was the first time he was wearing it. He realised, even though it looked quite tight and uncomfortable from outside.

That was not the case; on the other hand, it was quite comfortable.

After wearing the uniform, he attached the badge over his chest; he decided to go around the place, as the senior grunt mentioned there are few places where grunts can chill.

Though he also said there will be very few chances, they will be able to chill. As the schedule will be packed.

But since he had nothing to do, Kael decided to go to those places.

After leaving his room and walking through some paths, Kael finally reached the said place, and it was filled with new trainee grunts, as after the trail, everyone was on their toes, so everyone must want to relieve that stress.

"It's him, who got into a fight with a senior."

"Really, how is he safe?"

"Well, I heard some big shot helped him."

"No, I heard he begged, and they forgave him."

"No, I heard he is crazy strong, and he beat the shit out of him."

"Shush!! He is looking this way; let's ignore him."

As Kael entered the place, he heard some of the people gossiping about the incident that happened in the mess.

And that is to be expected, as not just senior grunts were there; some trainees probably would have seen what happened there, and they must have told other people about it.

But not caring much about it, Kael moved on. As, in a way, it was beneficial to him if people ignored him.

The fewer people know about him, the better, as they will realise he doesn't have his memory and will take advantage of it.

"Hey! trainee." Someone called out to Kael.

"Me?!" Kael asked the person who called out to him and was seated beside a table and a few things beside it.

"Yes! you." The man nodded, and Kael decided to go near him.

"So, want to get any tattoo?" The man asked with a cheeky smile. When close, Kael noticed the various tattoo designs around the table and a strange device, and the man himself was covered in tattoos.

"Nah, not interested. Maybe later." And saying that Kael left.

Leaving the tattoo artist, Kael wandered around the place, or what the grunts called 'Area 69'.

Soon Kael reached an area that was crowded; many people were standing in a circle, and in the middle were four individuals seated on four chairs, with a table and a board; some kind of game was placed in the middle of it.

The four player, each throw a pair of dice over the board.

'12'

'10'

'9'

'7'

"Hahahaha." The guy who had the highest value started laughing. And he moved a piece, placed it on the board and moved it 12 steps, and it landed on a tile with 'Slap Card' written on it.

The guy started grinning and rubbing his hands, and soon drew a card, from one of the stacks placed around the board.

He saw what was written on it, and then he showed it to everyone present.

[Slap Anyone.]

The card had that written on it.

"Get up! bitch! Time for my revenge!" The guy said to the person sitting across from him.

"You can be next; select someone else." The other guy tried but to no avail. As the first guy was dead set on him.

With no other choice left, the second guy got up, and closed his eyes,

The first guy brought his hand near the second guy's cheeks and then brought the hand as far as he could.

*Thud*

The first guy slapped the second guy, causing him to fall to the ground.

"Hahhahaha."

"Hell yeah!"

"Oh...Sevens."

'What the heck, what is the psychotic game?' Kael wondered as he saw the second guy get up. And everyone started playing again.

Kael decided to stay and watch the full game. As the game continued, Kael saw more people getting slapped, other types of cards drawn, some allowed to move extra steps, and some allowed to cancel slaps.

One even allows the person to slap the other three.

Though he found the game a little odd as he watched more and more. He realised, though the game is a little brutal, it is fun.

And after 15-20 minutes, the game finally ended when one of the guy reached the middle tile in that 10*10 board and stayed there for three consecutive turns without getting slapped, and he won.

And got to slap the other three guys.

"Hahaha, yo, guys, want to play one more round?" The winner asked

"Nah, it is already time for the last meal of the day, and I don't want to go to bed hungry." One of the guys said, and hearing him, everyone decided to go to the mess and have their food.
