Chapter 26 - The Body Remembers

Power bends the world.

But the body remembers what it costs.

Rune Engraving is not a matter of will alone—it is an act of endurance, a dance with exhaustion. For every mark carved, the engraver surrenders something: time, breath, clarity.

So came the sacred limit—the law known as the 3-1-3 Rule.

Three Basic Runes per day.

Easy to forget. Easy to underestimate. But enough to ruin the nerves of a novice.

The first cuts warm.

The second burns.

The third? It scars.

One Professional Rune per day.

Only one. Ever.

More than that, and the hands shake. The blood thins.

The dreams start… wrong.

Three days for one Prade Rune.

Even gods respect this boundary.

To rush a Prade Engraving is to call Death to your doorstep, offer it wine, and hope he drinks slowly.

This is why runic weapons are feared, hoarded, hidden. Why elites kill to keep theirs secret. Why the best engravers are revered not for speed—but for patience.

Because each day you engrave, your body learns to hate you.

And each rune you create brings you one step closer to forgetting who you were before you started.
