Today, BayMax performed its first medical intervention. The problem? A sausage at Sheldon's breakfast, but the response was more surprising than anyone could have imagined.
Despite some failures, nothing that Jimmy couldn't fix that very morning. However, because of this, both he and Sheldon were late for class for the first time since they enrolled in this school.
Professor Rafael, the math teacher, walked along the first row of students and observed, with curiosity, the two best students in the school, Jimmy and Sheldon, who were at the door. In a joking tone, he asked, "Can you tell me why you're late today?"
For Professor Rafael, the top students, like Jimmy and Sheldon, rarely ever arrived late.
Especially Sheldon, considering his personality, it was unlikely that he would ever miss a culture class.
Maybe it was Professor Rafael's kind and indifferent attitude that triggered resentment in Sheldon's heart. He recalled the near-death experience that morning: a white robot lifting his father as if he were a rubber doll, and then the medical attention they received. Seriously, he said, "Professor Rafael, I almost died today because of a sausage."
Although Sheldon said it with all sincerity, Professor Rafael couldn't imagine anyone choking on such a delicious sausage, let alone almost dying from asphyxiation!
Subconsciously, he thought Sheldon was lying.
With a mocking smile, Professor Rafael asked, "Sheldon, can you tell me how big that sausage was?"
"It was about this big." Sheldon used his index finger and thumb to indicate roughly five centimeters in length. That already seemed like a pretty terrifying size: "At that moment, it got stuck in my throat, and I couldn't breathe. But thanks to BayMax, I received top-quality medical care right away..."
Seeing how seriously Sheldon spoke about something so strange, Professor Rafael, who had already deduced that he was lying, couldn't help but burst out laughing.
In the classroom, the other students, who were between fifteen and sixteen years old, didn't sympathize much with little Sheldon because of his personality. Seeing Sheldon's "funny" performance, they finally couldn't hold back and erupted in laughter.
The laughter was so loud it felt like the whole classroom was going to tip over.
Although Sheldon had somewhat low emotional intelligence, he could sense the "malice" from his classmates and teachers at that moment. Disappointed, he closed his mouth and, without realizing it, looked at Jimmy as if searching for some kind of emotional support.
"Don't worry, they'll have to pay BayMax to fix them. It's one of the benefits of private industries," Jimmy said. He had already learned that not everyone deserved to get his inventions for free, so he made money from them.
Sheldon smiled. For the first time, he felt that having a friend wasn't a hassle, especially if that friend shared his intelligence or was even brighter. He didn't care anymore that Jimmy was much smarter; for him, Jimmy was a friend.
"Alright, stop laughing." Seeing Sheldon's embarrassment, Professor Rafael, who had always been a trouble for Sheldon, decided to stop the collective mockery. Then, he looked at Mike and asked, "And you, Jimmy? Why were you late?"
At first, the professor tried to keep calm.
However, perhaps because the reason Sheldon was late was so amusing, Professor Rafael held his serious face for two seconds before bursting into laughter once again.
Thinking it was all very funny, he added, "Jimmy, you weren't late because of the sausages, right?"
Professor Rafael's joke triggered another round of laughter from the students.
Rafael casually glanced around and noticed that most of the people laughing were boys.
"I was making some adjustments to BayMax. After all, it's the first time it's providing first aid. Thanks to Sheldon's sausage incident, I can improve it even more."
Upon hearing Jimmy's outrageous response, the laughter in the classroom intensified.
Professor Rafael, leaning on his desk, continued laughing mockingly.
"Is it that funny?" Jimmy looked at the students in the front row, his expression growing more serious.
He had never spoken much with his classmates, and they weren't too familiar with each other. The constant laughter was starting to seem excessive.
It was the first time his classmates saw Jimmy angry. Considering he had skipped several grades and was also good at fighting, many of his classmates immediately stopped laughing.
It had been a while since Jason had been punched, but he hadn't come back since then.
Some boys, who hadn't realized the offense, also stopped laughing after the girls in the class reminded them of the reason.
At that moment, Veronica also showed her unwavering support for Jimmy, demonstrating her role as the leader of the group of girls. She had connected with almost all the girls in the class.
Soon, the class fell into complete silence, and Professor Rafael stopped laughing awkwardly. Seeing Jimmy's serious expression, he asked, surprised, "Are you serious?"
"Of course, I have no reason to lie," Jimmy replied, nodding slightly.
"It seems I misjudged the situation, I'm sorry."
Professor Rafael then asked that Jimmy and the other two return to their seats.
Because of the mockery, Sheldon spent the entire math class feeling down and didn't respond to the questions like he usually did.
The morning's classes, in general, felt very boring to him.
At noon, Jimmy sat next to Sheldon.
In the middle of the conversation with Sheldon, he shared his desire to graduate earlier than planned.
